Same here. I usually only write a very short comment. I wrote a review for Mrs. Sherlock Holmes because I really wanted to point something out about his style, but it took me the whole day coming and going from the computer.

Kristie - you looking for this one? Deep Down Dark: The Untold Stories of 33 Men Buried in a Chilean Mine, and the Miracle That Set Them Free - it's great.

think so. It's hard to tell if it's fire just by looking at it. But, given the title and book blurb, one must assume that it is.

Not quite - 98% LOL! Just kidding. A word of warning, don't be expecting coherent answers later today. A few of my friends are going over for a Christmas drink and bake day today.

Yes, you may.

My connotation of historical fiction is that it is a telling of a real time/person/event in a fictional format. My expectation is that it be as true to the facts as possible. I want to be transported back to a time period to learn about it.

@Mariab, at the end I think Mrs. Sherlock Holmes is historically accurate, but I needed to make peace with the author's style, which includes lighting up the life of the time.

Hope it makes sense.

Thanks, Janice. That's why I questioned it. The fire on there is not real clear. What's your opinion on this one?

It has a part of a truck on the cover and the main theme is around an accident involving a truck. Would this work?
I also have The Guardian where the MC (at least one of them) is said to drive a truck. Can I use any of these 2?
For MC over 60 can I use books from the Black Jewels series like:
The Invisible Ring
Twilight's Dawn
The MCs in these are mostly warlocks over few hundred years old.
Or I also have Morrigan's Cross. An old vampire is supposed to be in that.
For Maiden would any of these work:
Wolfblade
Child of the Prophecy
Written in Red
Angel
I have all of them but am not sure if they would qualify.
And for Taurus (illness) can I go with either of these 2:
Veronika Decides to Die
Before I Fall
Lastly, for the black cover, I know I already asked but I found even this on my shelves Kushiel's Chosen

I have been meaning to read this series for ages but kept backing off because of the size of the books. This challenge would be the perfect excuse to get on with it. And as I'm already reading the Malazan books for another challenge I'd like to use Carey for black. Does it fit?

I like your idea of using one for title and one for cover. I think both covers have fire on them.

Yes to both truck books.
Over 60 - Morrigan's Cross would work. I'm unable to determine age based on the book blurb for the other two.
Maiden - Child of Prophecy and Angel would work. The others are difficult to determine from the book blurbs.
For illness, Veronica Decides to Die would work. I'm not sure about the other.
Black - yes.

As long as "time travel" is on the book page, standalone or embedded in another genre, you're good.

Aries – Ares
- Ares’ team affiliation is the Olympians. Read a book shelved as mythology, or has the word “God” in the title. Plurals are accepted.
Can I use Goddess in the title
Thanks"
I was thinking more along the lines of mythology being steeped in the patriarchal lines of the gods. No offense to all the goddesses out there, but we'll leave the task as is - "God" or "Gods". If your book with "Goddess" in the title is in the genre mythology, it's a win all the way around.

Thx J!

I approve :P

I'm really struggling with this one. If you take the picture literally, it's not much different than a bathtub. But, it is a bowl with a teaspoon beside it. So I guess I'll accept it.

That looks like an orb, like a crystal ball - think oracle, not planet. So no, to this one,

The title needs to be exact. Since the movie doesn't have a sub-title, the book can't either.
I'm being difficult tonight, aren't I?

Here are my first questions:
- Is it a metal enough weapon?

- Is there enough fire?

- This is burgundy, is it ok for red cover?

- Are these considered profiles?

Thanks again ;-)

I should clarify the ruling. If option 1, where it is the book upon which the movie is adapted/based, then sub-titles are allowed. For example, I want to read Dead Man Walking: The Eyewitness Account Of The Death Penalty That Sparked a National Debate which was made into the movie Dead Man Walking in which Sean Penn starred.
If, option 3, where the book shares the same title as a movie, then it must be exact.

Here are my first questions:
- Is it a metal enough weapon? Son dernier coup d'archet.."
Yes, to the metal and fire options.
No, to the burgundy. I wouldn't call that red.
No to Emma - she's pretty much looking straight on. Yes, to Sir Nigel.

From bathtubs to test tubes.... Who would have thought this question would cause so much debate. The task is to symbolize a water-bearer. Picture a Grecian woman bearing an urn of water. I knew that it might be limiting choices if I specified only urns on the cover, so I opened it to other water bearing "vessels".
After typing that, I realized that test tube doesn't quite fit the idea of the task. Go with option B.

Here are my first questions:
- Is it a metal enough weapon? Son dernier coup d'archet.."
Yes, to the metal and ..."
Thank you!

You know us by now! We are as creative trying to fit as much into the rules as we can as you are in coming up with these challenges ;-)

Will do boss. I have a cover with a succubus carrying a chalice, so will go with that.

I had a lot to say about the novel, apparently. I've been getting very lazy and don't write that in-depth reviews any more.
