It would certainly fit for Sagittarius "fire" in title, but I see you all ready have that one filled. My problem with this one is that I think the cover is designed to resemble fire, but I can't tell that it is, so I'm going to say no.

It looks more grey to me than white. There's a little white across the top and bottom, but I don't think it's enough. Sorry.

I am looking at my physical book and it really does. I think it does but then I may be bias. :)

I'm not sure what that is to be honest. Is it the earth and moon? Is it a head? Is it a planet? The task is for "earth-like" planet. I'm going to say no. Sorry.

message 1120: by Jannene (last edited Aug 11, 2018 07:32AM) (new)

Jannene | 3124 comments If you had the physical book it would be more clear. You can see the outline of North America. It is about the end of the world.

Do you mind if I take a picture up close and upload it?

message 1123: by Jenn (new)

Jenn | 3033 comments So, I just finished Carousel Beach, for the toppler, and had been hoping that one of the characters would be a bit more prominent so that it would qualify for Leo-Superhero-MC over 60.

But, would you accept it for Taurus-Stone-Illness is a major theme - It is about a woman trying to fight through the debilitating emotional turmoil following the deaths of her beloved grandmother and unborn child on the same day. (Not at all what I had been expecting from this read!)

Thank you Janice :)

Camilla | 2112 comments For Leo – Salmon
- Read a book that is set in the Pacific Northwest (Canada or United States): coastal Oregon, Washington, and British Columbia:
is Portland, Oregon coastal enough?

message 1127: by Janice, Moderator (new)

Janice (jamasc) | 60069 comments Yes, that will work Camilla.

message 1128: by Camilla (new)

Camilla | 2112 comments Excellent, thank you Janice!

Amanda - Cat Addict Historian (closet_reader) Maybe this is a stupid question, but I am just starting this challenge. Do I need to report each book I read one at a time, and if so where? Or do I just report once I have achieved the first badge.?

Also, I added a book to this challenges shelf and it still says 0. Does it take time to show up?

message 1130: by Janice, Moderator (new)

Janice (jamasc) | 60069 comments Welcome to the group, Amanda, and to the challenge.

Read the challenge instructions carefully.

You need to set up your own personal thread in which you will report each book read. There is a required method of reporting which is detailed.

When you finish the different parts of the challenge (there are 4), you need to request a badge here. Again, there are instructions on how to do that in the first few messages of the thread.

Speaking of badges - we award badges for various activities in the group. Every member who completes an activity will get a badge on his/her individual Wall of Fame. You need to pop over here and give us the name you want for your wall. We have other Amanda's in the group and you need something unique to identify you.

If you need help, be sure to ask. We don't bite (much). :)

message 1131: by Janice, Moderator (last edited Aug 20, 2018 09:17PM) (new)

Janice (jamasc) | 60069 comments Oops, almost forgot to address one of your questions. Your challenge will start today (Aug 20). Any books started/finished previous to that date will not count. Unfortunately, that will shorten your time period significantly.

If you are using the challenge widget on the group's main page, you need to create a shelf for the challenge in your bookshelves. I call mine ylto-zodiac. In order for the widget to count your book, you must include the shelf in your book review, and mark it as read, with the date that you finished reading it.

ETA - I see the shelf that you set up. The challenge widget shows 0 of 12 read, but when I click on that link, it shows your book. It might be a caching problem. If it doesn't show in a few days, check Goodreads Feedback group. You can leave a message for staff. There always seems to be ongoing problems with these widgets.

Okay, I have set up my person thread > Lehew's - Who is the Zodiac Challenge?

I think I have done it correctly, please let me know if I am missing anything important, only if you super promise you will not bite :)

Sandra (sanlema) | 11295 comments The only reason why Janice might bite us is lack of coffee, but she is always careful and drinks some before reading and answering our questions. :*)

Jayme | 4568 comments Hi Janice - I looked over the general information about the challenge, but couldn't find the answer to my question.
I just received an advanced reader's copy of the Daughter of Moloka'i from the publisher and was wondering (hoping) that I could read it for the challenge, but wasn't sure. Thanks

Debra (debra_t) | 6542 comments Does the face on the cover of this book fit what you had in mind for a profile for the Gemini-Agate task?

The Weatherhouse by Nan Shepherd

Janice (jamasc) | 60069 comments Debra wrote: "Does the face on the cover of this book fit what you had in mind for a profile for the Gemini-Agate task?

No. She's looking straight at the camera, so her face is tilted to far forward for it to be a profile. Think cameo jewelry, which is where I got the inspiration for this task.

message 1146: by siriusedward (new)

siriusedward (elenaraphael) | 887 comments Janice, as I am working my way through the various tasks , I wanted to thank you again for this awesome challenge. It has encouraged me to read a lot of books which I would not have thought of trying and some which I was in need of a push.So thank you.I am not so much after the badges as much as completing the different tasks..interesting esp. as the cutoff page number is 175.Makes it more challenging as there are many books that would have fit otherwise.
:)

message 1147: by Janice, Moderator (new)

Janice (jamasc) | 60069 comments I'm glad you're enjoying the challenge, Elena. It's fun creating them, and it's great that people enjoy them. It means a lot to me.

message 1148: by Peggy (new)

Peggy (pebbles84) | 15868 comments Janice, does this qualify as a significant amount of water? I'm not sure if it means that the water should be clearly recognizable, or whether it means that over half the page is water.

Big Fish A Novel of Mythic Proportions by Daniel Wallace

message 1149: by Janice, Moderator (new)

Janice (jamasc) | 60069 comments I'll accept it, Peggy. My aim with that task was that water needs to be clearly identifiable.

message 1150: by Peggy (new)

Peggy (pebbles84) | 15868 comments Perfect, thanks!
