I've never been one for keeping track of upcoming releases in anything. I discover most films and books long after their release.

I’m now looking forwards to Silverborn The Mystery of Morrigan Crow by Jessica Townsend which is the 4th book in the Nevermoor series. She announced the title today.
Yeah...end of next year. Bit of a pain but can’t wait anyway. They’re great books. Fun for ages 8-80. And beyond.
Star fang has been acquired by Scribd. I remember it being nominated in a challenge recently but failing due to a lack of availability.

Tor's most anticipated books for the rest of the yearhttps://www.tor.com/2021/06/14/the-30...
I'm not sure I appreciate the she/her and she/they and they/them labels on all the authors. I don't want to pick my authors by their labels.

Not to get you to read a book by someone with specific pronouns. This is something that would probably be best discussed in the Author Demographics thread, so anyone who wants to, please move on over there :)
I took a look at that Tor.com list, and I was already super excites for Light from Uncommon Stars by Ryka Aoki, but now I can't wait!edit: Started to edit the typo, but I guess I'm pretty "excites" so I'll leave it XD
Apparently on Instagram now you can say what your pronouns are Chessie. They’re trying to normalise it. I haven’t looked at that list yet. Suppose I should.
Yeah, I think it's great to help people know how to address folks in a way that makes them comfortable, I don't think it's meant to advertise or label like for marketing, though it may make it easier for those of us who do track such things, too!
Yoon Ha Lee:"Okay, I can finally announce this because my editor has Tweeted the news: Delacorte (Penguin Random House) has acquired my YA space opera trilogy Lancers:
Hannah Hill at Delacorte has acquired, in a preempt, Lancers, the debut YA trilogy by author Yoon Ha Lee (Dragon Pearl). This adrenaline-fueled sci-fi adventure follows Hwa Young, a teen training to become an Imperial lancer pilot after her rebel moon home is literally ripped apart. But when she uncovers a terrible secret that the Empire has been hiding from its citizens, she must return to her rebel roots to save her world. Book one is planned for summer 2023; Seth Fishman at the Gernert Company did the deal for North American rights.
Because I have no imagination, the first book has the working title Lancers (or maybe Lancers #1). I'm sure Hannah will have Opinions on the final title. Anyway, this is the No Longer Sekrit YA novel that I've been working on - I'm currently midway through Ch 12 (so maybe 40% done??), although I'm also a vomit drafter, as y'all know, so I will have to do first-pass revisions to make the draft presentable.
Now I need to figure out how many swear words I'm allowed to use in YA (something you really can't get away with in middle grade, LOL). =D"

You had me at Yoon Ha Lee LOL
I'll read anything.
I'm looking forward to this one that I just heard about: The Memory Librarian: And Other Stories from Dirty ComputerDirty Computer is a music album by Janelle Monáe (which I didn't even know about until today!). She's made several narrative albums with SF overtones, which I just think is cool.
The book comes out in April 2022
I'm really anticipating that one too, Diane! (Dirty Computer also has a 50-minute music video that was nominated for a Hugo: https://youtu.be/jdH2Sy-BlNE)
Not everyone's cup of tea, but I know at least a few others have read the Teacup Magic series. The third one comes out this month. I knew it was coming but I don't think it was on Goodreads when I last checked.Spellcracker's Honeymoon by Tansy Rayner Roberts
edit: typo
Anna wrote: "Not everyone's cup of tea, but I know at least a few others have read the Teacup Magic series. The third one comes out this month. ..."Cool. I just started the first over my late night snack (no tea, sadly) and can already tell that I'm going to want more. Thank you.
I pre-ordered Spellcracker's Honeymoon. Tansy Roberts said in her e-newsletter if you send her proof (screenshot) of pre-order, she will send a bonus scene. So I did this and it was worth it.
Anyone who hasn't read Teacup Magic yet, you can get the first one free this month. More info on Twitter.
I’m eagerly waiting for Perhaps the Stars in October. Probably going to attempt a reread of the first three soon. I’ve been wary of starting again because the date kept getting pushed back.
It also looks like all our UK friends will maybe get earlier access which bums me out lol. Super jealous. :(

Zoraida Cordova has an adult novel coming out: The Inheritance of Orquídea Divina. I like her writing, but her previous trilogy is a little on the YA side for me, so I'm excited to try this new book!
More Yoon Ha Lee! He has a new serial (it's a romance, but with fox shifters) on Kindle Vella: https://www.amazon.com/Fox-You/dp/B09.... I don't know how the Vella thing works yet, but this has me intrigued enough to check it out.
It's also not available on the Kindle app on my iPad, despite the "Kindle" in the service name. This is a weird rollout.
I hadn't heard of this yet:Introducing Kindle Vella
Kindle Vella brings you stories released one short episode at a time, available in the Kindle for iOS app and on Amazon.com.
Things to look out for if you're new here:
Follow the stories you like to keep up with the latest from your favorite characters.
When you like an episode, give it a Thumbs Up to let the author and other readers know you liked it.
The first few episodes of every story are always free--after that, purchase Tokens and redeem them to unlock episodes. Tokens may only be used to unlock Kindle Vella story episodes in the Kindle for iOS app and on Amazon.com.
When you unlock episodes, you will receive one Fave a week that you can award to the story you're enjoying most that week. We'll feature Top Faved stories so other readers can find them too.
It sounds absolutely evil and I hope it dies a quick death before they get the exclusive rights to too many stories. I have been disappointed by the way Amazon just ignores IPs they own through Kindle serial.

One of my favorite self-published authors is doing something like this. She said it's to get her name out there. But she also said that when the episodes were finished the novel would be available for purchase.
As a matter of fact, she is already on other episode sites, such as Patreon and Ko-Fi. According to her, Kindle Vella is the same type of thing.
Michelle wrote: "As a matter of fact, she is already on other episode sites, such as Patreon and Ko-Fi. According to her, Kindle Vella is the same type of thing."Amazon did the same with Kindle serials. The serial finishes, and then the whole thing is bundled up in a book and sold as a novel. I own a couple of them! The problem is that Amazon retains the rights to that IP, and if they decide there's not enough interest in the series for the next sequel, the author can't shop it around elsewhere to publish either. (I know traditional publishing does that too, but Amazon seems particularly brutal to me, probably because they're the ones who have the series I want continued locked up.) Now they're directly bringing the popularity contest into it, complete with cryptocurrency. I really don't think it's the same as Patreon or Ko-fi at all, but I'm certainly not criticizing authors for taking Amazon up on the platform.
John Conroe, i follow his facebook page and gives a word count. his new book nearly there mmm must re read the other 17, ha ha ha
Emily St. John Mandel wrote a novel during quarantine and it sounds absolutely amazing. (And some of it seems to be set on the moon!)
Sea of Tranquility - April 2022

Her last one was great- though I really wouldn't classify it as fantasy at all. There's a teensy bit of magical realism, but I loved it anyway. Still well worth reading. I'm excited to see what she does with this one though because the blurb seems so complex.

There are two novels that will be released later this year that I want to read. I have pre-ordered both. The Wisdom of Crowds, book three of the Age of Madness Trilogy, by Joe Abercrombie, will be published September 16, 2021.
Leviathan Falls, book nine of The Expanse series, by James S.A. Corey, will be published November 16, 2021.
An interesting point is that both hardcover books are listed at 560 pages each.
Terciel and Elinor by Garth Nix is to be released in November (in Australia, anyway). Paperback only so far but I'm assuming kindle version will be released at the same time. It's about Sabriel's parents, from the Abhorsen series. A prequel. I'm excited!
The Kindle and Hardcover editions are being released on the 2nd of November Jan. Australia always gets paperbacks now. Suppose they’ve worked out we won’t pay $42 for a new release hardcover. Even though Becky Chambers newest one is only in hardcover even over here which is weird.
