Overflowing Bookshelf Challenge

Laura sinks her claws into this challenge, all snuggled up and comfy in her dragon's lair
I love Terry Brooks' books! I am reading one at the moment :) Something very comforting about the way he writes. Proper 'curl up with a good book' sort of fantasy.
I have yet to try them. :)And I will as soon as I close up one of the huge series I have open.
I was also thinking about The Word and the Void? That trilogy seems to be separate from Shannara. Have you read that one?

It is not entirely seperate - but I won't spoil anything :) I only read the first book of the Word and the Void. It did not grab me as much as the Shannara books. I may read them one day...
I am curious to see what you think of the Shannara books. I think the original Shannara series was the first 'proper' fantasy I read when I was a teenager and I have a soft spot for them still.
@Virginie - thank you! 😘@Lola - if The Word and the Void is not separate then I'll start with Shannara as planned. I am currently collecting the books in this series one by one whenever I get them on sale. Hope to get them all in a few months' time. :)

Wow now THAT is really impressive ^^ Your challenge is quite inspiring :) Good job ! now I really want to try harder for mine, so thank you ^^
Thank you Elinor! :)(btw - I also sort of have that problem you mentioned with buying extra stuff :D)
So! I guess I just fell off the wagon again!!! (*sigh*)My favourite bookstore called today to inform my beautiful Janny Wurts hardcovers have finally reached - I had ordered those close to a month back. So naturally, I went to collect them. But then the owner was so nice and sweet and showed me all the lovely new additions to his stock....
So here we go! Instead of 2, I picked up 8!!!

But they do look very pretty, especially together with that wooden 3D puzzle of a wolf that my little one has put together and painted for me to go on the Robin Hobb Shelf!
I called it Nighteyes.
It does look like him now doesn't it?! Well maybe just a little. :D
Nice haul :) I really want to discover Janny Wurts some day ^^And I agree, the wolf is really cool !
Nighteyes! 😍 😍 😍 And as a wooden toy, no less! Is this proof the Fool exists in this world? ;)Nice haul! I guess that 'only' flew right out the window the moment you entered the bookshop hahaha
@Elinor: Janny Wurts is really good but can prove a little difficult to read if English isn't your mother-tongue... I'd advise you to start with a standalone before diving into her big series. We'll be reading To Ride Hell’s Chasm with the Fantasy Book Club in June, and Janny agreed to do a Q&A. If you end up reading one of her books, you might want to try and contact her. She's always very enthusiastic and willing to discuss her work, providing tons of insights, details, paintings of characters, etc.
You said it girl!!! Straight out the window!!!! But I'm not sorry at all - cause those are some fine books! 😁😁😁And can I join that BR also? I'd like to do a reread of that book even though I've read it just a few months back. It is absolutely awesome.
@Elinor - what Virginie said: start with a standalone. That way you'll get used to her prose.
Thanks for the advice ! I can't plan on reading anything more in June I'm already quite over-booked. I'm still saving the name of this book for later ^^I just realize that I already one of her series, but one she didn't write alone, the Empire trilogy (I bought the entire trilogy on a great e-book sale), I may start here since I already own them and want to read them as soon as possible.

And a Q&A should also be created for the book. Janny was extremely pleased her book won the monthly poll and said she'd "offer anything [she could] to make [our] experience memorable".

Thanks lovely but the group is private so no access for me. :(

Laura, I believe they only switch the group to 'private' for polls to eject spamsters and eliminate ballot stuffing/to be sure it's the regular members only during voting - check again, it should be open to anyone when their current poll is over.
Thank you Janny. :)OMG! You visited my thread! That is so absolutely awesome!! I'm like a little kid who's been given the best candy now! Yeay!!! :)
I will look for the group again in a few days then. I adored To Ride Hell's Chasm and would really like to be in a BR for it.
Laura, Janny is right, the group closes admissions during polls. However, the main mod mentioned going on vacations soon-ish so I'll ask her if you can get a direct invitation to the group :)Just to make sure you'll be able to access the thread!

Never heard of this book before but it sounds right up my alley so that's going straight on my tbr shelf. Janny Wurt's other series is also on my tbr but I can't start that while I have both Wheel of Time and Malazan on the go so I love that it is a standalone!!
Laura, the group is now public, you can join :)Hailee: You can get a feel of Janny's prose that way, before diving into a very complex and long series. I'm amazed you have both Wheel of Time and Malazan going at once :o
@Virginie - got it now. Thank you. 😘@Hailee - Wow! those 2 are 2 heavy series to go through at the same time. :)
And come read To Ride Hell's Chasm with me.
Courtesy of some great recommendations of Manju and Virginie and a very friendly bookstore owner who always searches for the titles I that ask, my challenge is down the drain this month.Bought this month:
1. The Wall of Winnipeg and Me
2. Kulti
3. The Law of Moses
4. Making Faces
5. Wolfsong
6. The Player and the Pixie
7. Truth or Beard
8. Song of the Beast
9. Scriber
10. The King of Elfland's Daughter
11. Sorcerer's Legacy
Don't know when I'll get to read 5 times 11 books to atone for these but I'll give it my best shot.
The problem is I told my personal book fairy agent to see if he can get more of the authors I had bought few days back and he just messaged and happily informed he got extra 8 of Amy Harmon and is waiting for me to pick them up.
I don't know if I should laugh or cry!!! :D
round 23 finished:1. Cinder
2. Mansfield Park
3. The Phantom of the Opera
4. Assassin's Fate
5. Villette
Reward: The Smoke Jumper - already bought
round 24 finished:1. The Stone Sky
2. Fugitive Prince
3. Nicholas Nickleby
4. Book of a Thousand Days
5. Beauty and the Wolf
Reward: Book of a Thousand Days - already bought
I will Manju - after I get the remaining 8 if get smth nice to go with them - like the dragon, the woolf or the mug. I only post pics when I have smth interesting to go with those books. Not fun otherwise. :D
Um! Not quite!It's actually 11 + 8 + 4 left from last month's hoard! (*sigh*)
And there is also that one with the sex shop next to bakery that Iain recommended which will be probably added to the pile of 8.
So ..... 24 in total.
If I do that I'll be buying even more. So I'll honestly give it a shot at 5 for 1 and try to abstain from raiding the bookstore or borrowing from the library for a while. That way I may manage.... in a few months!
Fingers crossed it will work. :)
I'm adding todays aquisitions:The Bird and the Sword
A Different Blue
The Song of David
Slow Dance in Purgatory
Prom Night in Purgatory
Running Barefoot
Seduction and Snacks
Only 7 after all, not 9. Yeay! Only 22 books to atone for this month!
Now I'll go back to reading to finish round 25. :D
round 25 finished:1. Sorcerer's Legacy

So I removed books no. 4 to 8 from my shelves.
I'm adding instead 3 books which I got in exchange:

And I won't atone for these since they were "exchange". :D
