Sara (phantomswife) - What are you reading for this category?
I read The Dove in the Eagle's Nest, written in 1866.

- How is it related to the element (cover, title, content, item, etc)?
OK, a bit of a stretch maybe...but, this takes place in the Austria alps at a place that is compared to a eagle's aerie. That is pretty high in the air. Plus the eagles do figure into the plot somewhat and they are definitely part of the air.

- Which of the 4 elements do you prefer?
Not sure how you can prefer one element over another. The earth is beauty and basic; we need air to breathe; had we not had fire we would never have been separated from the animals (thank you Prometheus); and if you have ever been thirsty you know the value of water (and that includes being thirsty in your soul, for nothing soothes like the sea or the sound of a waterfall).

Airs Above the Ground - Mary Stewart

How is it related to the element (cover, title, content, item, etc)?
The word "air" is in the title.

Which of the 4 elements do you prefer?
They all seem pretty essential to me.

The Wind in the Willows by Kenneth Grahame

How is it related to the element (cover, title, content, item, etc)?
The title has wind in it.

Which of the 4 elements do you prefer?
Strictly speaking they are all important but I like Earth element the best.

Tracy (tracyisreading) | 2573 comments What are you reading for this category? I stuck with my original plan for this one and read When Breath Becomes Air. I liked it, but not as much as I thought I would. I can't put my finger on exactly why? Maybe because the first half of the book dealt mostly with his years in medical school. But overall it was interesting and sad.Maybe little scary for me right now.

For a picture book we read When the Wind Stops, which had an interesting and deeper theme than I thought, that when something stops everything else goes on. May be useful to read again later with the girls. For the moment I don't think they really got it.

- How is it related to the element (cover, title, content, item, etc)?
Has air in the title. ( all of my element books have the actual element in the title, that is how I planned out these prompts.

- Which of the 4 elements do you prefer?
Water. Cant live without it, and being around it relaxes me.

The Cloud Roads

How is it related to,the element?
I really had problems finding something that fit here, but clouds being in the air was the best fit that I came across.

Which of the 4 elements do you prefer?
For this challenge? Fire was my favorite.

- Which of the 4 elements do you prefer?
Water

Chrissy | 1137 comments I just started H is for Hawk on audio today, so that I will finish during week 46. So far, so good! It is narrated by the author, which is always nice for a memoir type story.

Jackie | 2450 comments Mod
I read H is for Hawk for this, since hawks spend a lot of time flying through the air.

I'm personally most drawn to water, though I'm pretty fond of fire too.

message 61: by Lynn (new)

Lynn (lynnsreads) I read The Birds and Other Stories, which is the first time I had read Daphne du Maurier. I liked it so much I have purchased two novels by her.

It is about birds and their aerial attack on humanity. This was the only difficult of the four for me to find. I had already read the other three elements without consciously trying.

I never knew the movie "The Birds" was based on a book!!! How did I not know this? especially since I knew Hitchcock made the movie version of Rebecca?

message 63: by Ashley (new)

Ashley (ashleym99) - What are you reading for this category?
Death in the Air: The True Story of a Serial Killer, the Great London Smog, and the Strangling of a City

- How is it related to the element (cover, title, content, item, etc)?
Title and content. The book was focused on how the air in London during smog was deadly.

- Which of the 4 elements do you prefer?
The books I read for the elements were all very different. It depends on the book and not on the element itself.

message 64: by Sue (new)

Sue S | 555 comments I read Silver Clouds by Fleur McDonald. A very light and 'airy' read!

message 65: by Ron (new)

Ron (ronstjohn) | 205 comments What are you reading for this category? The Martian by Andy Weir

- How is it related to the element (cover, title, content, item, etc)?
Producing and conserving a scarce air supply was a major plot point. I also considered "Jane Eyre" but that seemed too much of a stretch.

- Which of the 4 elements do you prefer?
As elements, definitely air. Water gets you all wet and earth is dirty. Fire is dangerous. For books I managed really great books in all four categories: East of Eden (earth), The Girl Who Played With Fire (fire), and The Woman in Cabin 10 (water).

message 66: by Jody (new)

Jody (jodybell) | 3477 comments I read Breath, Eyes, Memory for this one.

- What are you reading for this category? Fly Girls: How Five Daring Women Defied All Odds and Made Aviation History
- How is it related to the element (cover, title, content, item, etc)? I saw air and thought airplanes.
- Which of the 4 elements do you prefer? As much as I love the ocean, I have to say the air. If we were to get rid of most human inventions but keep airplanes, I would be happy

message 68: by Silvia (new)

Silvia Turcios | 1058 comments - What are you reading for this category? I read Airman

- How is it related to the element (cover, title, content, item, etc)? Air is in the title and also the content is about a boy who is obsessed about flying.

- Which of the 4 elements do you prefer? After this book Air :D , but I like also Fire
