I love this prompt! I'm going to choose from this list of books that I had penciled in for 2017's challenge, but ended up going with a different book. The Last Letter from Your Lover
Lab Girl
Beezus and Ramona
First Light
Small Great Things
Girl in Translation
The Bonesetter's Daughter
The Paris Wife
Night
Pictures of You
The Snow Child
I have many that I hoped to read this year but didn't get to:Station Eleven
The Night Circus
Wave
Ready Player One
Darktown
Americanah
Cocoa Beach
Lilac Girls
The Radium Girls: The Dark Story of America's Shining Women
Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine
Hillbilly Elegy: A Memoir of a Family and Culture in Crisis
The Hamilton Affair
Half of a Yellow Sun

I still have my initial list of the possible books for each prompt, so I'll probably just go back to it & pick one that didn't make the final cut. A lot of those weren't because I didn't want to read that book, but because I had easier access to a different one, so I went with it instead.
Like everyone else I have plenty of options for this one, but I was sure I was finally going to read Rebecca this year (there's still 2 months!) so if I don't get it done that will definitely be my choice.
There are so many books for me that can fit in this category :DThe Red-Haired Woman
Exit West
Remnants of a Separation: A History of the Partition through Material MemoryThe Tree with a Thousand Apples
I have a looooot of books that could fit into this prompt, but I will probably read Harry Potter: A History of Magic
Now that Overdrive has the history function, I’ll use t to find something I borrowed but didn’t get to.
I have either a lot of books I have been planning to read or none really because I don't really think like that, so this prompt feels a bit stupid for me... But there are a couple of books that I have been wanting to read (and fit in prompts for 2018) but I want to read the first book about the same character before those. It's not really a series, the books are standalones, but the person's background does get referenced. It also doesn't fit in other prompts, so...
Yes, for me this is basically a free space as well. So having Overdrive’s function of remembering what books I checked out is helpful. I often fail to get to books before the loan expires.
This is a bit of a freebie. But I'm going to make it a point to read The Casual Vacancy since I've had it slotted for prompts the last 2 years and replaced it both times.
These are a few on my list that I meant to read this year: Pachinko (this could fit into author of a different enthnicity than me, also)
Sourdough
The Hate U Give
Ack! How am I going to do this one? I don't really set out lists of books to read ahead of time- instead I select books from the library that look interesting, and then see what prompts they fit into. By the middle of the year I was seeking out books specifically to fit certain prompts, but I was still making that decision on a book-by-book basis, getting help on this website and then reserving the specific title, or searching out the library with the prompt in mind. So, since I never had a list of books "to be read in 2017" how can I have any that I didn't read?
Oh, I've got it! Take out a stack of books in mid to late December and don't finish them all before January. Whichever book I read first in January will fulfill this prompt. I just have to figure out which book to count if I'm in the middle of one on December 31st- do I count the book I started in 2017 but finished in 2018 or the first book I start in 2018?
I often don’t get to all my library books before hey have to be returned, so I’ll be reading one of those. Though I also often see books and put them on my library wish list. I guess I didn’t 100% mean to read them this year, but clearly I meant to read them at some point, so that may work too.

Last year a few of us started the 800-page book in December and marked it off this year's list when we finished in January.

Caitlin wrote: "I really wanted to read Mr. Penumbras 24 hour bookstore by robin Sloan this year"I **LOVE** that book so even if you don't use it for this category you should read it and put it as recommended by a fellow Popsugar-er.
I started Not That Kind of Girl: A Young Woman Tells You What She's "Learned" at the end of 2016, and forgot about it when the 2017 challenge came into my life...so I'm going to finish it for this challenge. A bit sneaky, but it'll be a push for me to complete the challenge so any little helps!
Sad I didn’t get a chance to read Into the Water Sing, Unburied, Sing or The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo plus a whole bunch more, but these were top of the list to read for this prompt!
I have a lot of series im reading so when I have filled out prompt no. 3 I am just going to use this one for the next in the series. This is pretty much a wild card for me.
My Sister Rosa my daughters canoe team partner is named Rosa, and Rosas sister is on the team, so this has been a running joke! Sounds really good!!
I was Planning on reading Hollow City yesterday as my last book of 2017, but it was too busy of a day to get any reading done. So....Starting it today and counting it towards this prompt.
I'm in the middle of Two By Two. I kept putting it off last year because it seemed so long and I wasn't the biggest fan of the last couple of Nicholas Sparks books I read, but it's pretty good so far.
My friend's book Satellite was released in December and I had other stuff on my plate so I didn't read it right away like I meant to.I also wanted to read Lab Girl but I think I can fit it elsewhere. And What Happened, but I'm still not sure if I can read that without rage sobbing.
I read
for this prompt. I actually started it last year and put it away after fifty pages. Decided to give it another go. Finished 1/10
Decided in 2017 that I didn’t know enough about George Washington! Am reading 1776 now - well written, but I’ve heard some criticism from history “purists.” Any thoughts?
I'm reading Rogue Warrior by Richard Marcinko. It's an autobiography and he's the founder of Navy SEAL Team Six. It's an interesting book now that I got into it but not for people who don't enjoy military topics since so much of it is about his tours in Vietnam.
I read The Stand for this prompt. It is over 1400 pages long and I started it in December of 2017 so I definitely meant to read it then. I would recommend but be aware of the length of the book.
I just finished Gizelle's Bucket List: My Life with a Very Large Dog for this prompt and it was so very good. But it would fit for so many other prompts as well. A book about death or grief, a book with an animal in the title, a book about mental health?? Just be prepared to read it with tissues!
I meant to read this last year but I just wasn't in the mood for it. I started but quit after 50 pages. I definitely wanted to read it this year so I made it the first choice for a book club I was organizing. It was so beautiful and fun to read.
Completed 1/10/18
I read Scorched Earth: How the Fires of Yellowstone Changed AmericaWas more about the history of fire policy and the beginnings of the NPS then it was the 1988 Yellowstone fire.
