message 1: by Sara (new)

Sara This is a popular prompt every year. I think we all have new books we want to read each year.

message 2: by Kenya (new)

Kenya Starflight | 985 comments Really looking forward to Space Opera this coming year! Catherynne M. Valente has yet to disappoint me.

message 3: by Lindi (new)

Lindi (lindimarie) I love this prompt every year! It forces me to read popular or buzzworthy books when they come out, I have so many books on my TBR people were talking about months or years ago.

Still Me, the third book in the Me Before You series is coming out next year so I'll probably go with that one :)

message 4: by Tara (new)

Tara Bates | 1008 comments I also love this prompt every year, but I definitely usually leave it blank because I'll inevitably find one that I want to read later in the year

message 5: by Stina (new)

Stina (stinalyn) | 464 comments I can't think of anything specific I'm anticipating, but I'm sure V.E. Schwab will come out with something awesome.

message 7: by Kristy (new)

Kristy (kristy67) | 53 comments I will probably end up reading the new Stephen King book that comes out this year. June, I believe.

Raquel (Silver Valkyrie Reads) | 896 comments I'll probably use The Plastic Magician for this. I'd also like to read Artemis, but plan on using that for the heist prompt.

I don't normally follow new releases, so I'm not anticipating a lot of books right now, but I may run across a few more options over the course of the year. :-)

message 11: by Jette (new)

Jette I'm hoping George R. R. Martin releases The Winds of Winter this year. I may have to start the series over to clear up the differences between the novels and the HBO series.

It's a bad joke, I know, but I somehow doubt he'll publish it next year! He's not exactly the speediest of writers

message 21: by Niru (new)

Niru (niruds) | 9 comments I think I'll go for El laberinto de los espíritus - the English translation should be out next year.

If not, I'm sure there'll be plenty of new releases to turn my head!

message 24: by Chinook (new)

Chinook | 731 comments I feel like I’ve been waiting for Children of Blood and Bone forever!

message 25: by Emily (new)

Emily Dixon | 28 comments I'm really excited for Record of a Spaceborn Few! It's the third in the series that started with The Long Way to a Small Angry Planet and I've been so hyped up for it ever since I binge read the first two

message 26: by Melissa (new)

Melissa (eowyn22) Is it too much to hope that GRR Martin will finally publish the next installment of A Song of Ice and Fire in 2018?!?

message 31: by Rachel (last edited Dec 31, 2017 09:26AM) (new)

Rachel (rellareads) | 27 comments Batman Nightwalker (DC Icons, #2) by Marie Lu

One of the first books to come out this year, so it's my first pick. There will definitely be a lot on this one though.

message 32: by Eujean2 (last edited Dec 31, 2017 05:17PM) (new)

Eujean2 | 249 comments Does anyone have any idea if Sorcerer Royal will actually be out in 2018? It still says expected in 2018 on the GoodReads page, but I'm wondering if that will actually happen. I love Sorcerer to the Crown! (There is nothing about a release date on the author's website.)

Or course this prompt could easily be filled by ...
- Record of a Spaceborn Few
- The Calculating Stars
- Bruja Born
- Heroine's Journey
- Night and Silence

All of which I already plan to read in 2018.

whoa, this one sounds awesome!! thank you!

message 35: by Heather (new)

Heather | 17 comments If anyone else is crazy about YA...

I was considering Daughter of the Pirate King for my "set at sea" prompt, and I just discovered that book #2, Daughter of the Siren Queen, is being published this year.

I am so excited to hear that! I read both books.

message 37: by A (new)

A Sue | 6 comments hi, I can suggest a book coming out in April 2018.
it's Come from Away by Genevieve Graham. Genevieve is a Canadian author and I have enjoyed all of her books.

message 38: by Mrs. Hahn (new)

Mrs. Hahn (kate_hahn) | 8 comments I'm about to start Fire and Fury: Inside the Trump White House Kindle-borrowed from my public library. That should be... interesting.

message 39: by Angie (new)

Angie (angelnurse1003) | 2 comments Hoping Go Tell the Bees That I Am Gone comes out this year 😄

message 40: by Frogli (new)

Frogli | 96 comments I'm sure by the end of the year I will have read a few that qualify but right now the one I am waiting to get my hands on is Circe

message 41: by Nuala (new)

Nuala (nuala8) | 6 comments The final Penderwicks book comes out this year!!!

message 42: by Jenni (new)

Jenni (jennigray) | 29 comments I've gone for Time Shards for this one, as both the authors are super nice people whom I've had the pleasure of meeting in real life. Sounds like a fun book too :)

message 43: by Mel (new)

Mel | 90 comments Decided I'm going to go with Beneath the Sugar Sky for this one, because I spotted it at the bookstore the other day and couldn't resist picking it up along with a few other books. Hope it's as fabulous as Every Heart a Doorway was!

message 44: by Emanuel (new)

Emanuel | 253 comments I'll read Pecados Santos.

message 45: by Leah (new)

Leah (leahykg) | 9 comments I am so sad there won't be a Sue Grafton "Z" book coming out.

message 46: by Chinook (new)

Chinook | 731 comments I read Very, Very, Very Dreadful: The Influenza Pandemic of 1918. It could potentially have been squeezed into microhistory or problem facing society today, but I didn’t feel those were quite enough of a fit, so goodbye easy to fill prompt!

message 47: by Daniplx (new)

Daniplx (danipx) | 12 comments I ended up reading Fire Sermon for this prompt. It was..interesting.

message 48: by Nadine in NY (new)

Nadine in NY Jones | 9686 comments Mod
Fire Sermon is on my TBR - "interesting" sounds like faint praise!! Did you like it? I've never read this author before.

Raquel (Silver Valkyrie Reads) | 896 comments I ended up filling this prompt with Unearthed. (At least for now--it could also fill two authors or set on another planet, so I may move it later. )

If you like YA sci-fi adventure with an Indiana Jones feel, I definitely recommend Unearthed. Just be warned, it has a bit of a cliffhanger ending...

message 50: by Christina (new)

Christina (crissytina) | 83 comments Leah wrote: "I am so sad there won't be a Sue Grafton "Z" book coming out."

Me too!! Her death was truly devastating as she has been my favorite author since high school, I have all the books in hardback in this series! I'm on V is for Vengeance as I like to space these out so that I don't feel like I'm waiting as long for the next one to come out, and now I want to space them out even more knowing that there won't be a Z. :(
