Cornerofmadness | 823 comments Let's see I have some suggestions for this. All but Invictus are also LGBT. I'm probably reading TimeLabs myself or Dirk Gently.

Invictus
The Pill Bugs of Time
Time for Destiny
The Applicant
TimeLabs Inc
A Time Traveler's Valentine

Amanda (amaflynn) Four that interest me:
The House on the Strandby Daphne du Maurier
Kindred by Octavia E. Butler,
Summer of Love: A Time Travel,
The Time Travel Trailer

message 56: by Caitlin (new)

Caitlin (catielane) | 60 comments Crossing in Time by D. L. Orton sounds interesting.

message 58: by Lisa (new)

Lisa (lisag311) this is also the prompt I am most excited for! I've been in a mystery/thriller/crime kick for most of 2016 and I am so glad I found this challenge:)

message 59: by Dan (last edited Dec 19, 2017 05:35PM) (new)

Dan | 7 comments How to Be Both by Ali Smith, for one that isn't primarily about time travel.

But it's a different book depending on which if the two versions you buy - which half comes first? The one I bought began with the story from the viewpoint of the renaissance painter disembodied in modern times.

I might just read a Doctor Who book.

message 60: by Melissa (new)

Melissa Webb | 16 comments I'm going to read The Impossible Lives of Greta Wells for this prompt. It would also work for the "characters who are twins" "mental health" and the "celebrity book club" (Emma Roberts' Belletrist) prompts. Part of the book takes place in 1985, so for me it fits in the "birth decade prompt" too.

message 61: by Conny (new)

Conny | 154 comments I am currently reading The Shining Girls (and loving it!!!), which fits the bill perfectly. For some reason I did not think of it when I made my reading lists, plucked it from the TBR pile the day before yesterday, and now it's too late :D
Warm recommendation for the thriller genre!

Oh I've got that on my "read next!" list and I didn't realize it was about time travel!! Even though I groused a bit when I first saw this category, I already have a book picked out for this one (Just One Damned Thing After Another) and now I don't know which one I'll end up reading because I want to read both of them!!

Niru (niruds) | 9 comments Conny wrote: "I am currently reading The Shining Girls (and loving it!!!), which fits the bill perfectly. For some reason I did not think of it when I made my reading lists, plucked it from the T..."

Yes! This was on my TBR list and forgot it was about time travel.

message 64: by Crumb (new)

Crumb | 395 comments I think I am going to do The Time Traveler's Wife by Audrey Niffenegger.. never got a chance to read it.. and am thinking it would work perfectly for this prompt.

message 66: by Samantha (new)

Samantha (jamsandl) | 6 comments Nancy wrote: "Dark Matter isn't a time travel book, he travels across alternate realities but not through time."

For there to be alternate realities, there has to be time, though! If you are in one timeline and you travel to another (maybe the darkest timeline, for Community fans?), I would define that as time travel. It's not traveling "through" time maybe, but "between" time for sure.

This is what I am reading for the prompt (had to slow myself down so I don't finish until Monday!), and for those of you who aren't big into sci-fi, I'd recommend it, as this is not a genre I generally like either. It does get a little into the weeds with some of the science about half way through, but you can skim it.

message 67: by Heaven (new)

Heaven Leigh | 1 comments I’m gonna try to track down The Time Traveller’s Wife by Audrey NiffenNegger. I loved the film, and I can only imagine how great the novel is

Britta | 97 comments Melissa wrote: "I'm going to read The Impossible Lives of Greta Wells for this prompt. It would also work for the "characters who are twins" "mental health" and the "celebrity book club" (Emma Robe..."

From the description I think it would also fit the "death/grief" prompt, or am I interpreting that wrong?

Anyway, it sounds interesting, thanks for the recommendation!
You just filled my #50! ;-)

message 69: by Josie (new)

Josie Egan | 1 comments Just stared reading The Summer Of Impossible Things by Rowan Coleman, it involves the main character going back it time so I’m hoping it counts!

message 70: by Linda (new)

Linda Varick-cooper | 25 comments I really really loved All Our Wrong Todays. I wish I hadn't read it yet, so I could read it now for this category!!

message 71: by Shelley (new)

Shelley | 231 comments A Wrinkle in Time is absolutely a time travel book. Mrs. What very clearly states that they are manipulating time so that they will arrive home 5 minutes after they leave. Ok, it's probably just a throw away line, but it is definitely in there to calm Meg down.

If anyone is reading only non-fiction, The Time Traveller's Guide to Medieval England: A Handbook for Visitors to the Fourteenth Century is a history book written as a travel guide for time tourists.

message 72: by Teresa (new)

message 73: by Sofía (new)

Sofía 'The time traveler's wife' by Audrey Niffenegger
'Ruby red' by Kerstin Gier
'Outlander' by Diana Gabaldon
'Passenger' by Alexandra Bracken

Good to know! I admit I had completely forgotten that (or missed it entirely).

Yvonne | 40 comments Linda wrote: "I really really loved All Our Wrong Todays. I wish I hadn't read it yet, so I could read it now for this category!!"

That's the book I am picking for this challenge...someone over in one of my book groups on facebook posted about it and now I can't wait to get my hands on it, it looks so good

Shelley | 231 comments Nadine wrote: "Shelley wrote: "A Wrinkle in Time is absolutely a time travel book. Mrs. What very clearly states that they are manipulating time so that they will arrive home 5 minutes after they lea..."

It's a throwaway line that I think was added in to hand wave over the potential plot holes. That's why it stood out to me.

message 78: by Dayna (new)

Dayna (textbookcase) | 6 comments I wonder if Life After Life counts? I've been meaning to read it for awhile. I would love to re-read The Time Traveler's Wife as it's one of my all time favorites, but I'm trying to do books I haven't read before.

message 79: by Alice (new)

Alice | 21 comments I'm going with either Slaughterhouse-Five or Outlander

message 80: by Crumb (new)

Crumb | 395 comments Can anyone tell me if Life After Life by Kate Atkinson would fit for this prompt?

message 81: by Lily (new)

Lily (bagatelle) | 6 comments I'm wondering if How to stop time by Matt Haig counts ...

message 82: by Amanda (new)

Amanda (amandabg) | 9 comments Does Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children have time travel?

message 83: by tif (new)

tif flynn (itsmetif) | 17 comments I just finished The First Fifteen Lives of Harry August and noticed that lots of people have marked it as time travel. I hadn't really considered it as time travel but who am I to argue with the masses ;)

message 84: by Lindi (new)

Lindi (lindimarie) My girlfriend and I are reading the Outlander series together this year. So I'm going with the first one in the series!

message 85: by Kirsty (new)

Kirsty CS (kirsty_csk) | 2 comments This is the 1st book completed in my 2018 challenge - The Immortals by S. E. Lister

message 86: by Jackie (new)

Jackie | 740 comments Amanda wrote: "Does Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children have time travel?"

Yes, it does; pretty good book too, so I'd recommend it.

message 87: by SadieReadsAgain (new)

SadieReadsAgain (sadiestartsagain) | 767 comments Amanda wrote: "Does Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children have time travel?"

Yes, the "Loops" the Peculiars inhabit are frozen in time. The first book (I've only read the first two) had more time-hopping, if I recall. I think the second book is mainly set in one time.

Deborah (dg_reads) Conny wrote: "I am currently reading The Shining Girls (and loving it!!!), which fits the bill perfectly. For some reason I did not think of it when I made my reading lists, plucked it from the T..."

Thanks for the recommendation - I've started this one and enjoying it so far!

message 89: by Chloe (new)

Chloe (grrrlbrarian) | 33 comments A few ideas:
Making History by Stephen Fry
When You Reach Me by Rebecca Stead
A Discovery of Witches by Deborah Harkness (also ticks off prompt 39)

message 90: by Torie (new)

Torie (wanderingtorie) | 21 comments Time's Edge
I am reading this for prompt #3 as well as this one; time travel and book #2 in a series.

message 91: by Carol (new)

Carol Roote | 119 comments Excellent time travel novels:

Lightning - thriller

11/22/63 - historical fiction/romance/small amount of sci fi

Kindred - historical fiction

message 92: by Alaina (new)

Alaina Martin (alainarose) So my original plan was to use Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children for the movie one, but I think I’m going to use it for this prompt!

message 93: by Cristin (new)

Cristin | 25 comments I just finished All Our Yesterdays, and while I am using it for a different prompt (author with same first name), this YA novel most definitely checks the box for time travel. It was a fairly quick read, and more focused on character than nitty-gritty science-y details.

message 94: by Kate (new)

Kate Daysh 11/22/63 is brilliant. Loved the book and the TV series did it justice

message 95: by Kristi (new)

Kristi (sweetheavenlygrace) | 8 comments I will be reading In the Shadow of the Moon by Karen White. The book that I own is actually a two in one kind of thing with a completely different cover. The title of it is Spinning the Moon.

message 96: by Amy (new)

Amy | 46 comments I think I will be reading Timebound
It's also a series, so if it's good, I'll read the second one.

message 97: by Jess (new)

Jess Penhallow | 427 comments I echo the people who have recommended Connie Willis for this prompt

message 98: by Crumb (new)

Crumb | 395 comments Does anyone know if How to Stop Time by Matt Haig would work for this prompt?

message 99: by Lily (new)

Lily (bagatelle) | 6 comments Just One Damned Thing After Another by Jodi Taylor fits perfectly here and is well worth a read :)

message 100: by Jaclyn (new)

Jaclyn (jayinbee) | 24 comments For those who like crime solving books A Murder in Time is pretty awesome. 2 books of the series are out and another one to be released this year. All three will fit prompts for the reading challenge too (1. Time travel 2. Feminism 3. New book released in 2018 4. About Death or Grief)
