SOLVED: Children's/YA > SOLVED. YA and set in a post apocalyptic / dystonian type of world. There is 3 brothers who who owns a ship + hence access to an island with resources. A pretty lame book I'm looking for :) [s]

iyo (iyouwu) | 2 comments Hi, I am looking for a book from my middle school / early high school years, so in NO WAY is this a well written work of literature. Considering how I've searched for it for quite a while, I don't believe it was that well known or gotten much attention. Either way, at the age I read it at, it left a strong impression on me, and I would really like to relive it!

plot + characters I remember
I remember the book is YA and set in a post apocalyptic / dystonian type of world.
There is 3 brothers who who owns a ship + hence access to an island with resources. They come to the mainland area to pick up boys to do what is essentially labor for them. The boys parents generally want them to be picked because they will be fed and healthy, offering everything they had to have their boys picked. (ie. rabbits / last cigar... etc)
The main character and a boy called rei (i think) was chosen at the same time and brought to the island, which seems to have its own hierarchy with the older boys who have worked there longer + the 3 brothers (and their father i think?)
Other than that, I remember one of the boys names was cookie... and he was the cook for the group!

this is all i remember and may not be 100% accurate!

some trivial things I remember / know about the book
(might not be 100% accurate)
- I found it on the 'new books' shelf in the library near my house - I don't know the specific genre
- It was probably published around 2007 to 2010
- the version of the book had a ship on the cover (i think)
- if i remember correctly, the books author had a really generic name
- if i remember correctly, the books name is also really generic... like... 'the _____'
