Paranormal Click (paranormalclick) | 24 comments I posted this in another group, but I think I should have asked here. lol Just starting the last avail bk in a series that I'm loving. It's erotic with a big intelligent PLOT which is sooo hard to find. It's like you either get steamy sex or intricate plot. I clicked this series after seeing in on a blog I stalk saying it was for sale. So happy I did, but now I'm on the last one until sept. :-/ Damn, I even read the short story. Not sure if it's still on sale. FYI first book had typos, but I just didn't care. They're getting better each time, which never happens!

Hidden Ecstasy (Guardians Of The Realms, #0.5) by Setta Jay
Ecstasy Unbound (The Guardians of the Realms, #1) by Setta Jay
Ecstasy Claimed (The Guardians Of The Realms, #2) by Setta Jay
Denying Ecstasy (The Guardians of the Realms, #3) by Setta Jay reading this one now and am screwed till Sept!

Anyone have ideas? I have to have HEA, no cliff if possible, SMART characters a MUST. I hate when the characters are stupid and make me want to throw my reader. I know that makes it hard. :( - Also love, Lora Leigh's Breeds, Laura Wright's Marked by Vampire Series, BDB and LOTU, but want dirtier like the Setta Jay Series.

Gina Wilkins | 13 comments AMEN TO THAT!!!! I am in the same boat as you!! For the past month I've been roaming from book to book leaving DNF's in my path. :(

I don't have any idea, I just finished Erica Hayes' series Shadow Fae. They have a lot of bad reviews but I actually really enjoyed them. It has a plot, it's erotic, and it has all types of PN characters. What I liked best about them was the whole new spin on the typical Fae. I thought it was awesome! Good luck and I will be checking out the series you just mentioned. TY

Sandra J Weaver (sandraweaver) | 451 comments You might want to look into Dana Marie Bell's books. She has several series going. I enjoy the Halle Shifters and the Gray Court books. Maggie's Grove is definitely different-a dryad and a vegetarian vampire. And these are all on the steamy side with a good dose of humor.

Thanks! I will check. I haven't read her! Yay!

Shannon | 65 comments I checked out your shelf and looks like you have most of my favorites (Showalter, Cole, Ione, Kenyon, Adrian, Ward) covered. I noticed you have only read one of Naughton's Eternal Guardian series. They are some of my favorites. Also Jeaniene Frost's Night Huntress series (Cat & Bones are great together) and Karen Marie Moning has both her Highlander series and the Fever series.
Oh, another is Jennifer Ashley's as well as Rachel Vincent's Shifter series.
Not sure if these will be as "dirty" as you want since I am not a fan of Lora Leigh, but you could give them a try :)

Thanks! I just joined so I haven't added all my books. When I went in to add from authors it was weird. I only saw some of the books to rate. I'm sure it was me. LOL Still getting used to Goodreads, but it's fun so far. I haven't tried Jeaniene Frost or Rachel Vincent, I will check them out. :)

Hi Paranormal,

One of my favourite authors is Felicity Heaton.
Felicity Heaton Felicity Heaton

In my mind she is a Paranormal Romance goddess Lol! All her stories are about forbidden love, hot & steamy sex, true love. Her male characters are strong sexy Alphas and her female characters are intelligent & resourceful.

The only books that have real cliff hangers are in the first 3 books in her Vampires Realm series (http://www.felicityheaton.co.uk/vampi...) the Prophecy Trilogy Prophecy Trilogy.

The Vampire Erotic Theatre Series is smut! ;-)
http://www.felicityheaton.co.uk/vampi...
There are 6 books in this series and the 1st one "Covet" is free on Amazon. Covet (Vampire Erotic Theatre Romance, #1) by Felicity Heaton

I hope her books are what you're looking for.
x

Sarah | 7 comments I'm always interested in finding new books too and it's so hard to find that perfect balance of steamy romance and actual intelligent plot. I think I'll be stealing your Setta Jay rec since it sounds so good.

Some of my favorite authors that I think do romance and plot well are Meljean Brook and Nalini Singh. They each have a series of books. I'd recommend reading them in order because, even though each book is a complete story for each couple (no cliffhangers), there is an overarching plot that carries through each of the books.

I love Nalini Singh, but I haven't tried Meljean Brook. I will go check her out. Thank you for the rec! :)

Shawn | 375 comments You may want to try Laurann Dohner Fury New Species Series(this is the first in the series) The first book isn't the best, but pretty good ... I love this series. It is hot, smutty and has a great story. (similar to Breeds by Lora Leigh).

Also .. Marisa Chenery Ra's Hunger Also, very hot, steamy and a pretty good story.

I like Laurann Dohner. Need to add more of my reads to the shelf, but was having user error with the way it pulls them up. lol Haven't tried Marisa Chenery. Just added. Thanks!!!

I have read a lot of Elora's Cave through the years. I like how dirty they are, but usually the plot falls short for me. It doesn't stop me reading them. lol

I thought I answered this. If it did sorry. I have read a lot of Ellora's Cave through the years. Fun, dirty reads, but the plot usually falls. I still read them as I find them. lol

I agree ... many of them don't have a great story ... It takes some effort on my part to find a good one. I usually read the reviews and use google if I find one that has a good blurb .. That's how I found Ra's Chosen and New Species. Good Luck on your search ... I hope you find the great dirty, smutty and not so cheesy book you are hoping for!!! ;D Happy Reading!

Komal | 162 comments Have A Hunger Like No Other (Immortals After Dark, #2) by Kresley Cole and Pleasure Unbound (Demonica, #1) by Larissa Ione been mentioned? Both worlds are very intricately crafted and they have a ton of dirty sex. You'll enjoy them if you loved LOTU.

message 25: by Sandra J (new)

Sandra J Weaver (sandraweaver) | 451 comments You might like Dana Marie Bell. She has a couple of PNR series with quite a lot of sexytimes: The Gray Court series if you like the Fae (four books so far-the second one contains a m/m/f menage) or Halle Shifters (three books so far) or Maggie's Grove series (two books so far-vampires, ghosts, dryads, witches, shifters) all have one couple/book, a plot resolved in the book, and an overarching plot that runs through the series.

Love them! Thanks. Finding something like those with a thought out world with an erotica kick doesn't seem to happen much.

message 29: by Jenny (new)

Jenny (4-hbabe) | 4 comments This is my ongoing dilema. Finding quality books with interesting, engaging plots/characters that also incorporate steamy sex. It doesn't seem like it should be that hard. Now when I find a good series I find myself trying to make it last just so I don't have to start the search all over for another one.

In my opinion, and as has been mentioned above, you can't go wrong with Larrisa Ione or Nalini Sing. They both write great stories, creating interesting worlds, and fill them with excellent characters who like to have a lot of hot sex.

I would also add to that Lexi Blake's Theives series. She writes a couple other hot BDSM series, so you know she has the erotic cred. This series has the same main characters through all 5 books and is set in a world that includes vampires, weres, demons, and fae.

The other series I would recomend is the Merry Gentry series by Laurell K Hamilton. I know she has a bad rep lately for the way she's destroying her Anita Blake series. I admit I have even given up on that series after 20 books because it just decends into non-sense. But the point to remember is that the first 15 or so were really good. And the Merry Gentry series is really hot. If you don't mind a lot of really hot sex with multiple partners then you will enjoy this series. The main paranormal element is fae and it does take a while for the "romance" to get started, but the plot is pretty fast paced and exciting. I would recomend reading the first 7 books in that series. The 8th book, Devine Misdemeanors, was terrible and I haven't read the 9th book yet. I'm afraid this series will suffer the same beating-a-dead-horse-then-resuscitating-it-to-beat-it-again fate as the Anita Blake series. So, I don't know if I'll finish it. But that's ok. Swallowing Darkness (the 7th book) was a fine end to the story.

OMG Thanks! I love Merideth Gentry, I'm pervy that way. I've been hesitant to start last book because of book 8 too. I never got into the Anita Blake for some reason, I read one and it didn't hold me. I will have to add Lexi Blake to my list. I came on because I just found another to fan girl for. Kit Rocha. Beyond Shame (Beyond, #1) by Kit Rocha She one ups the Setta Jay's with multiple partners, OMG does she, but I thought she did it in a way that was soooo good for me, but I have a friend that wouldn't touch it because she doesn't like it if other females are involved, so there's your warning. :) The first was free on Amazon and the second I just started. The plot was interesting and kept me going all night. It wasn't the same basic story with ridiculous misunderstandings and stupid women that go off when there is danger. That's why I love my Setta Jay's Ecstasy Unbound (The Guardians of the Realms, #1) by Setta Jay , but the next one's not until Sept. Now I have Kit Rocha's to keep me company until then. Thanks again!

I'm a Kit Rocha fan!!! I read this series a few weeks ago. A lot of people were not liking them because of the female involvement but hey....it doesn't bother me. The books are so well written it's not a problem. I started the Setta Jay books this week from reading this thread. So far so good!!

I'm over half way through Beyond Control and already can't wait for the next!!! I know the female thing gets to a lot of people, but I like it as long as the author writes it so I don't feel it threatens the H/H relationship or is going to cause a "misunderstanding". I love the intrigue too!

I Hope you like the Setta Jay! :) It's totally different than the KR, but I love it and they keep getting better as you go along! Can't wait for the next one! :)
