Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Ah. That 'splains it.

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12595 comments Well, both meetings were cancelled 10 mins before the first one was due to start! Eye is still twingy, think I might go to the optician next week. Came straight home, but my neighbour was going to Aldi so cadged a lift with her, she was taking one of the other neighbours too! Means I shouldn't have to use the car this weekend

message 3953: by Patti (baconater) (new)

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Yeah, that'd be nice Desley. Not looking forward to the drive to the airport tomorrow.

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12595 comments No, I don't envy you that. At least you are going back to better weather

message 3955: by Patti (baconater) (new)

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments True. But my arse is still numb from the drive yesterday. :(

message 3956: by Patti (baconater) (new)

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Chocolate brownie cheesecake.

Orgasmic.

Rosemary (grooving with the Picts) (nosemanny) | 8590 comments Ice cream on a stick. Mildly exciting.

message 3958: by Patti (baconater) (new)

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Oh that lovely feeling of running your teeth over the stick to get the last bit.

Argh.

Sorry.

Rosemary (grooving with the Picts) (nosemanny) | 8590 comments Morning! Big community beach clean this morning so I've got to collect my grabbers from the store and park the car down at the front early to be sure of getting a space. Good news is it's dry and there's no freezing cold wind.

message 3960: by Jim (new)

Jim | 21809 comments Dry at the moment but looks like it's going to be wet later.
Have to go up to Rydal which will be good when I get there but not looking forward to Lakes Holiday traffic :-(

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments It's pissing down here.

message 3962: by Benjamin (new)

Benjamin Appleby-Dean (benjaminappleby-dean) Morning! Dry here, we're off to see Isle of Dogs later. Sadly the cinema won't allow the actual dog to come...

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12595 comments Morning all, was sunny when I got up at 8 to feed the cats, is now raining - no wonder Lucy wasn't in a rush to get up!! Headache still slightly lingering. No plans other than housework and watching TV

message 3964: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments Morning, each. I've been for more teddy wool! It's an obsession, I tell you!

Editing for a while, then back to reading and knitting. I need to get the strimmer on the chicken field. It's so trashed with shallow dust-bathing holes that I cut it last year with hand shears. Not again! Borrowed sister's strimmer. Better shut Mattie up while I do it, though. Chickens are nosy creatures.

message 3965: by Alicia (new)

Alicia Ehrhardt (aliciabutcherehrhardt) | 4836 comments I was wondering what a 'strimmer' was; am disappointed. I love new words.

message 3966: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments Yes, the whole experience was a disappointment - except when compared to cutting the tussocks with sheers, on my knees.

message 3967: by Patti (baconater) (new)

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments I prefer 'weedwhacker'.

Safe and sound at the airport, waiting for our gate to be announced.

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12595 comments Safe flight

message 3969: by Patti (baconater) (new)

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Thanks Desley.

It's so hot in here Ive had to dig my Japanese fan out of my bag!

message 3970: by Alicia (new)

Alicia Ehrhardt (aliciabutcherehrhardt) | 4836 comments How chic.

message 3971: by Patti (baconater) (new)

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Chic chick, me.

We're back in Baku.

Uneventful flight and all the meat I brought back stayed frozen! Yay!

message 3972: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments Welcome back - there. Sounds odd but we all know what I mean.
Typing hindered this morning by the tiniest gardening nick in my index finger. I shall soldier on! Typing and gardening.

message 3973: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth White | 1761 comments Morning everyone.

Pleased you managed to save your bacon, Patti.

Are you tetanus-proofed, Kath?

I need to get into the loft for the suitcases because I'm the one who is still flexible enough and has enough balance to negotiate the hatchway and boards balanced across the beams. Himself will stand at the foot of the loft ladder ready to receive! I may need a holiday after that...

message 3974: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments Oh yes! Tetanused up to me eyeballs!
Himself emptied our loft a year or two back because, within a year or two, anything up there would have to stay!

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12595 comments Morning all, Lucy made me stay in bed for ages, so got a slight headache as I overheated. Housework and TV, felt nice pegging washing out

Glad you arrived safely and food was still frozen. Good luck Elizabeth. Hope your finger isn't too sore Kath

message 3976: by Benjamin (new)

Benjamin Appleby-Dean (benjaminappleby-dean) Afternoon, all. Taking advantage of the weather clearing up to go for a run.

message 3977: by Lindsay (new)

Lindsay (kiwi365) | 3672 comments Afternoon all,

Hope everybody is well?

Not been around too much lately, been ridiculously busy at work and home.

I feel your pain Kath, I was in the garden yesterday and have managed to get the end of a thorn stuck in my finger and i can't get it out!

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments Lindsay wrote: "I feel your pain Kath, I was in the garden yesterday and have managed to get the end of a thorn stuck in my finger and i can't get it out! ."

Were you playing Game of Thorns?

message 3979: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments Put a plaster over it, Lindsay. If it comes off, put another on. It'll soften up the skin and the thorn will eventually come off stuck to the plaster. We got a piece of glass out of our son's knee like that. It had healed up with the glass inside and he had a painful lump there. Took nearly a week!

message 3980: by Patti (baconater) (new)

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Got a copy of yesterday's times for free on the flight. Dave is pouting cuz there seems to be no sudoku in it.

Have stopped doing them?

Lynne (Tigger's Mum) | 4643 comments Good afternoon. I’ve just cocked up. I had 3 big chicken portions and i made a curry. It was big enough to save and freeze half but on serving up I forgot I meant to save half. I could hardly take it off the plates when I realised so he says he can hardly walk as he’s so full and I’m pogged. Still I won’t have to do any tea.

message 3982: by M.T. (new)

M.T. McGuire (mtmcguire) | 8049 comments Afternoon all. Je suis en France. It's overcast but warm and I have just bought the most beautiful rummer from a junk shop for €5.

Skiing was wonderful. I didn't but there were walks through the trees in the sun and it was stunning. I also wrote any insane amount while they skiid. The walking was only to use enough calories to be able to stuff my face as much as the others.

Now working on a blog post but it won't be up until next week.

Cheers

MTM

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments I just served up pasta I'd frozen before we left. Thank goodness I did as I sure as hell didn't feel like cooking.

I'll do a curry this week if I don't get called in. I'm booked on Friday but I've already told Dave we'll be going out for dinner Friday night.

What's a rum met, Mary?

message 3984: by Patti (baconater) (new)

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Or a rummer, even.

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments Patti (baconater) wrote: "Or a rummer, even."

Something to transfer rum from bottle to person?

message 3986: by Alicia (new)

Alicia Ehrhardt (aliciabutcherehrhardt) | 4836 comments Watching my youngest daughter's ballroom dancing competition at Rensselaer Polytechnic via livestream. Nice quality, but a lot of dancers. Next best thing to being there, except I can't focus on just my chick.

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12595 comments Glad you've had a productive week MT. All I need to do is wash up after tea

Rosemary (grooving with the Picts) (nosemanny) | 8590 comments A rummer is a large drinking glass Patti - I'm surprised you don't know that! ;)

I am recovering from having 223 people turn out to help clean the beach yesterday. Only had about 60 grabbers (which is usually more than enough) to give out! Some of the wee ones spent the whole two hours nurdle hunting - they're those tiny little bits of raw plastic - and managed to fill a bag. What a team :)

It's been a lovely day here. I went to air my beach hut, it's slightly damp after the winter.

message 3989: by Patti (baconater) (new)

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments I think you can blame David Attenborough for the turn out, Nosemanny.

message 3990: by Patti (baconater) (new)

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Do you own ginners?

Rosemary (grooving with the Picts) (nosemanny) | 8590 comments I don't know what they are :)

And yes I'm sure you're right about David Attenborough

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12595 comments Morning all, cold but dry and bright out. Think I only have a boring admin day today

message 3993: by Jim (new)

Jim | 21809 comments foggy here

message 3994: by Benjamin (new)

Benjamin Appleby-Dean (benjaminappleby-dean) Morning all. Dry and bright here (we're meant to reach the giddy heights of 10 degrees this afternoon), but rain on the horizon.

message 3995: by Patti (baconater) (new)

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Not a cloud in the sky. Balcony door wide open.

message 3996: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments Morning. As was. Grey here...

On the upside, my mega bag of toy stuffing is due this afternoon. Allegedly. It should have come Tuesday, then an email said it would come on Saturday. A semi-literate message later from Hermes said they'd tried to deliver it on Saturday which they most defintiely didn't. I suspect they attempted to put it on the van but it was full!

Now - today. Don't hold your breath.

I wouldn't hold my breath - Hermes were the ones who lost a heated drier that we ordered for mum, and Amazon never told us it was lost until we emailed to find out where it was. DPD delivered a replacement the next day. And Amazon still got it wrong by telling us that we had to return the first one or they would charge us for it.

Will Macmillan Jones (willmacmillanjones) | 11324 comments After a few frustrating days and some yelling, I now have a newly rebuilt phone line and a new router.

And I seem to have stable internet, for the first time in almost a month.
