Lynne (Tigger's Mum) | 4643 comments Good morning. I’ve got a really good pinny you can borrow Will. It’s got a sexy bra, knickers and stockings design. it’s so really well done that I made the milkman gape.
Must I get up? I can hear howling wind outside and rain splattering the windows, sounds lovely.

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments Morning! Disgusting weather. Decamping for the day to the garden room so we can pretend to have a day out and a picnic!

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments I see we're being offered payment for reviews again. We don't do that here.

Rosemary (grooving with the Picts) (nosemanny) | 8590 comments Morning all! Offending comment gone, Kath :)

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Oh.

Thanks Rosemary.

If it happens again, she'll need to be tossed from the group.

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12595 comments Morning all, the predicted snow has arrived but after rain so it looks a slushy white mess outside! I have no plans and little housework left, contemplating going through the shoe rack, other than that, reading and watching TV before having a bath.

Am sure you will find some reduced eggs Patti, although Morrisons had none on Fri! That is bonkers MT! Stay in bed Lynne

Jay-me (Janet) | 3784 comments Morning

We have the snow happening here.
Good job it didn't arrive yesterday as we were over at the coast visiting my brother and his family. We also had a chocolate torte, no caramel but chestnuts included in the recipe. Two more slices brought home.

We took mum to the Easter Mass over in St Annes, and to my surprise we were sat in front of someone that I knew from infant school. Surprisingly we recognised each other and spent some time chatting and remembering the time when I was May Queen and she was one of my attendants.

In the afternoon it was a little chilly but we had a walk around Fairhaven lake and then watched Paddington.

I also finished the last few chapters of the book I bought last week so another tick on my challenge. I can't decide what to read next.

✿Claire✿ (clairelm) | 2602 comments A belated Happy Easter everyone. Worked yesterday so today is chocolate day. Think I earnt it after yesterday, I'm based at a fire station and we're allowed to use their gym if we want so I decided to give it a try and actually enjoyed it. Might use it regularly as it's far nicer than a commercial gym!! Today is essay work, packing and housework though. 5 days til I go home, 1 week til my hand in and a week and a day til I go on holiday!!

You sound busy busy busy! I'm impressed, can I borrow a bit of that motivation please?

Alicia Ehrhardt (aliciabutcherehrhardt) | 4836 comments Odd. Half a world away from most of you, we had snow overnight, too.

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12595 comments Had a lovely lazy day, would have been better if Lucy hadn't spent most of it in her bed! Finished one book, hoping to get a good chunk of a second finished in the bath, currently using the ice pack on my foot. Told my neighbour my diet starts tomorrow.

That is crazy Alicia

Diet? Do you HAVE to? I'd wait until your foot is better - you don't need two miseries at once.

Well, maybe a bit less weight will help my foot!

Yes, in principle. But in practice it will make little difference for a long time. Percentagewise. And your foot being well would make it so much easier for you to move more, go for a walk, do more stairs - all the things that make weight-loss better.

Not saying don't - that's for you to choose, and sometimes the psychological effect of diets is profound. Just get that foot in better shape. I know. I can't walk or stand for more than a very short time. I would give anything to go for a decent walk.

When it's warmer, I can ride my bike for a bit - and I feel like a released caged animal. I just have to worry about vertical instability. It's always something.

Rosemary (grooving with the Picts) (nosemanny) | 8590 comments Wouldn’t trust a seagull as far as I could punt it.

Trying to snow here! Ridiculous

I'm just cutting back on carbs - tonights tea is pasta and garlic bread! I'm sorry you can't go for a decent walk

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments It's not rained here all day. Just looked to be on the cusp so I didn't fancy venturing out.

Dave was quite happy with that. He read what he said was the best book he's enjoyed in ages.

The Giver

I'll have to check it out at some point.

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments Morning. Had an interesting phone call yesterday. May be able to tell you more later tomorrow. Not to do with books, btw.
Stopped raining finally, after the wash-out that was bank holiday Monday.

Lynne (Tigger's Mum) | 4643 comments Good morning, school holidays for the little lad so I’m not having to rush. I almost have to start cooking his lunch while he’s eating his breakfast as he’s so leisurely about eating.
My poor toe is really mangled. I think the nail is coming off, if anyone treads on it - they are dead!

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12595 comments Afternoon wasn't as bad as I thought, had a lovely thunderstorm, came home to find my neighbour was worried that a roof tile has slipped on my roof, so got a local builder looking at it tomorrow as well as the canopy. Now eating slightly burnt tea, was determined to finish my book - thanks Kelly!

message 3897: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments Morning - again.

A few weeks back I came across the term Trauma Teddies. People make and donated knitted teddy bears to either the police force or fire service, to be carried when responding to call-outs involving children. When a child's involved in a traumatic event, they are given a teddy. In policing, it stops the child believing the officer is a remote figure from whom you 'get into trouble'. In the fire service, the child may well have lost personal possessions in a house fire or have been involved in a road accident.

I loved the idea and found a (pretty inept) pattern on the internet, which I tried out, then adapted. They are around 10" high and really fun to make. I took three teds and four copies of my pattern to our flower arranging group and they hoovered up the patterns.
One of the ladies is married to a retired fire fighter and offered to contact the local force with an offer to supply them with trauma teds. She heard back over the weekend and we were trying to set up a meeting for today but it's fallen through as the man (Liz and he are now on first name terms!) has to be at the other side of the city. So, it's still on and to be rearranged.

He's come across this scheme in the force he used to work with and is keen to set up a trial, suggesting maybe the callouts to road accidents initially. We need to ascertain how many they think they'll need - I have a dozen ready - and then circulate the village - via the bi-monthly magazine in which we can put a picture and the pattern.

Elizabeth White | 1761 comments M...er...afternoon everyone.

SNOW overnight and still sleeting.

If I could knit I would help, Kath. I discovered years ago that although I can manage plain and pearl, casting on and off is above my level of competence.

Sorry to read about your toe, Lynne and hope the day goes as well as possible, Patti.
