I used to love Turkish delight - only really discovered it in my teens, in Turkey, funnily enough. Haven't had it in years though.

Real turkish delight in turkey is very different from what you get here. Here is a kind of sickly pink jelly in chocolate.
Yep, it's gross here.Best I had was homemade by a colleague. With homemade rose and violet water.
Sugar powdered by hand in a mortar and pestle.
Made on a block of marble that was used for five generations.
She also makes baklava. You can read through her pastry. She also speaks five languages fluently. Amazing woman.
I'm all for christmas :) bags packed, most of narla's stuff ready, just got to do a last few bits in the morning and we'll be away! I don't mind clothes for Christmas from certain people. My sister got me a dress and tshirt for my birthday because she knew I was looking for one but didn't have a clue what to get! And we always get socks and things from our parents, it's become a tradition :) Wouldn't want clothes from anyone else though.
Had a random thing today, one of the girls was waiting for a parcel. DPD delivered a parcel addressed to a male colleague, girl got an email saying it had been delivered and had her order no on so we opened it and was hers, but with a different name on! Afternoon was utter chaos, only thing that made it feel like last day! Someone else left today, compounded some of the recent things so ended up crying. Then ate cake. So glad that we got everything done so I'm not back till 8th Jan. Have had a drink, tea is crisps, mince pies, cheese and chocolateLove turkish delight but don't eat the chocolate covered stuff. My granddad hated presents and the only thing he would accept was turkish delight.
I miss clothes shopping with my sister. She'd wander through the store throwing stuff in the shopping cart (we have carts in Canada, not trolleys), I'd try them on and love 99% of it. She'd never give me clothes for Christmas, though.
Good morning.I'm awake with the birds.
No idea why they're singing already. It's still pitch dark out.
Good morning. My birds are gargling. There's so much water about. When Roger went to the turkey farm it was chaos. They'd had a fire last week and had to use so much water to put the fire out, he darent get grandson out of the car as the standing water would have been over his wellies in parts. They were loading up for M&S and Waitrose so if that's where anyone is buying from it's all free range, organic and wet.
Misty moisty here but not quite raining.Apparently, my re-issued parcel is 'out for delivery'.
They said that about the last one, too.
Just survived an early morning trip to Waitrose. The store and its customers are in full "apocalypse" mode - a plague of cranberries? - with enough food and drink being sold to last an ice age. Now I need a coffee and a mince pie to recover.
Morning all, woke up at 5.30 with a sore hip and cold shoulder from sleeping in an odd position round the cat! Dozed till 7.30, got up to feed the cats and went back to bed with a cup of tea. Failed to get back to sleep. Supposed to be doing housework, got a friend coming round just after lunch for a catchup, then going for a walk with a different friend. Aiming to wrap the last of the presents today. Good luck with your parcel Patti. I do think we forget that shops only shut for one day now Will!

Am drinking coffee and eating mince pie as I write
Have no real intention of going anywhere near a shop until January now :-)
In the absence of a Waitrose I just braved the local Aldi for a few things, and came home via the High Street because some numpty has sent us something with insufficient postage on it which needs to be collected from the Post Office. Stuck in a huge long queue for over 10 minutes due entirely to an apparently urgent cress delivery. The Cress Company - your driver cannae park!
Parcel arrived! I think it was the original that was supposed to be here on Monday. I may end up with two.Gone really foggy here. Visibility is about 20 metres. Glad we have nowhere to go today.
I'm going to make kippers for dinner. Dave talked me into buying them.
I've no idea how to cook nor serve them. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
I had a beautiful hand made card from a friend and had to pay excess. Did it online and they delivered a couple of days later. My lovely little grandson is winding his mum up a treat. He’s saying he wants to go ‘home’ if he’s refused something. Home is Grandma’s house. It is my fault as in the mornings when he’s getting dressed etc, I say we’ll go home to Papa or Grandma is going home now. Oops.
If they're hot smoked kippers they don't really need cooking Patti, just heating through. Put into a pan of boiling water and poach for a few minutes (lid on or it gets very stinky!), or under the grill (v stinky) or in the oven 10-15 mins, wrapped in foil with a little butter and lemon (probably least stinky). I don't eat them because I hate the bones!
Oh bugger. I hate bony fish. It's come in a paper thing that you fling into the oven it seems, now I've read the instructions on the package.
I'll have to make something else for myself.
I really hate bony fish.
This seems to be the first day in ages that I haven't been enveloped in a fog..trying desperately now to finish the few jobs necessary before the christmas break can kick in with urgent shopping...
OH loves proper kippers. I once did them under the grill and they curled up and stuck their tails to the element. House stunk of kippers every time I put the grill on for weeks after.

Add: be sure to take the trash out right away, or you will wish you had. And protect from animals outside getting into your trashcans.
How do? I had kippers the morning our Jen was born. Eat them with bread and butter - helps the bones go down!Cor, I think that's me done for the hols, apart from baking, which is fun, not work. Mince pies and lemon cupcakes tomorrow.
That's me off work until the 2nd. Lovely. Shopping all done and just got a pile of wrapping to do now. At any other time of the year I don't mind popping gifts into a gift bag but at Christmas all presents must be properly wrapped in lovely paper! No big food shop to do as my mother-in-law takes care of all that. :)

I thought you were about to say that they were still repeating on you :-)
Personally I avoid kippers. I am however, partial to an Arbroath smokie. Delicious :)And only mildly stinky

I thought of saying I could still smell them - just to wind Pattie up!
Well, didnt get much housework done, but all presents wrapped. First friend was late but she brought alcohol as well as a present, second friend got messed around by the sofa men so we are only just ready to go for a quick walk! I'm cooking tea tonight too!
My friend Alex has her birthday in January, so just bought tickets for us to go to Spamalot! Now all I need is to get her a christmas pressie.
I wanna see Spamalot.Good morning.
I've been awake since 3, reading.
Probably shouldn't have gone to bed at 7:30...
Morning all, woke up really congested and with a sore cheekbone, not what I want as it's raining and I'm fundraising outside this morning. I get to cuddle Doris though. Then getting the last stuff from the shops then my friend is coming to borrow my freezer
Morning all! Tried to donate blood today but they've had no spaces left.Hope you feel better, Desley.
