Kath Middleton | 23860 comments Morning! Day with the grandgirls today. What's not to like?

message 8303: by M.T. (new)

M.T. McGuire (mtmcguire) | 8049 comments I have my haircut once a year, usually after I’ve been on holiday and discovered it’s getting stuck under my arms and stopping me from lifting my head up to breathe when I do crawl in the pool. You didn’t think I’d have a normal reason did you?

Cheers

MTM

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12604 comments Well, yesterday ended up a long day, and was very sore by the end of it. Hairdresser bought me some black peas when they did their lunch order, which was a nice treat, but she did go a bit short on my hair! Had to pick up some clothes from one of my neighbours friends on the way to Costco, which hampered how much we bought, we got everything from Costco in the car, but couldn't fit the Aldi and Asda stuff in, had to go home, unpack, feed the cats and go back again, treated myself to a caramelised orange and cream hot choc for the inconvenience. Didn't manage to do that much housework yesterday, so need to do a bit this morning, then going for afternoon tea with a friend.

That is the funniest reason for having a haircut I've ever heard MT! Nice to see a pic of you GL

I've learned to cut my own. There's a hairdresser here on-site, and I'll visit here one of these days, but it always seems like a bad time to make an appointment when, like yours, my hair suddenly seems mermaid length with no warning.

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12604 comments Well, am absolutely stuffed after my afternoon tea and had to bring some of the cake home - was impressed with some of the vegetarian choices such as garlic mushroom, coronation carrot. And lovely surroundings, as it's in a nature reserve type place. Would definitely go again. My friend's cats bought me two nail varnishes and some chocolate cats too!

✿Claire✿ (clairelm) | 2602 comments Well.... I went up to the shelter yesterday and came home with Jess, a gorgeous black cat who has made herself very much at home! Just waiting for her to get settled enough to eat, drink and use the litter box properly! And trying not to worry about every little thing!

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12604 comments Aww, I'm so pleased to hear that - it can take a couple of days to eat and use the litter tray, so don't worry too much. We need pics when she's settled x

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments Congratulations on giving another little cat a loving home. X

message 8310: by ✿Claire✿ (new)

✿Claire✿ (clairelm) | 2602 comments I've added a couple of pictures to the group photos. Thank you Desley, that's reassuring, I'm a little neurotic at the moment I think! Narla didn't eat much towards the end and it makes me a bit twitchy with her not eating much yet! I'm sure she'll not take long to get there though. :)
Thanks Kath, I missed the company :)

message 8311: by Benjamin (new)

Benjamin Appleby-Dean (benjaminappleby-dean) Morning, all. We're taking the dog out tonight so he doesn't get too upset by fireworks - the weekend was already stressful enough for him.

Glad you've found another cat, Claire - she looks absolutely lovely!

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Good morning, all!

We had a nice weekend in spite of construction noise in our building and a 6 hour power cut yesterday!

message 8313: by Jim (new)

Jim | 21812 comments People were talking about how they'd done a full day's work before getting to church yesterday morning. Discovered they'd started about an hour after I did but being a farmer I was told it doesn't count :-)

message 8314: by Jud (new)

Jud (judibud) | 16799 comments Morning.

Currently night weaning Nathan, it has been 2 nights so far and he is doing well, settled much more quickly last night than the night before. I've heard 3 nights is usually what it takes to get over the worst and to get into the swing of a new routine so fingers crossed it goes well tonight. I'm exhausted today though but it'll be worth it. As glad as I am to stop feeding (I wouldn't have decided to stop otherwise!) I am going to miss it so much and could cry my lamps out at the thought that I won't ever do it again.

Hope everyone is well and had a good weekend.

G J (Gaff to my friends) Reilly | 1836 comments Morning all. Blimey, that as a short half term week. Mrs Gaff's birthday and our anniversary. Trips to Broadhaven, St. David's, Dale and Tenby and a lot of meals out. Could have done with a month.

message 8316: by M.T. (new)

M.T. McGuire (mtmcguire) | 8049 comments Gaff, I hear you re half term. Alicia, clearly you have similar hair to me. Desley, that sounds like a trip and a half! Claire, bless you, I'm sure you won't regret it. :-) Morning Patti. We have painters in doing our front windows and the ceiling in our front room so I can sympathise re noise. They're using some kind of suction thing which is clearly exactly the wrong frequency for Harrison. Poor little fellow, he completely lost his biscuits and went to hide in the wood shed. I think he's OK now although I had to sit in the conservatory for an hour with the heater on with him so we were locked away from the workmen and he could adjust!

Jim, I reckon farming is more of an addiction than a job, it's that much hard work!

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12604 comments Urgh, had one of those rubbish nights sleep where you don’t properly sleep but fortunately don’t feel too tired. Luckily only one day to catch up on, got my flu jab at 5, so will probably need an early night. Not sure if you remember my foster cats from last year, Charlie and Will, but they have been brought back, unfortunately the person who fostered them after me wants them back, I’ve said I don’t think she should but not sure they will listen.

Lovely pics Claire, she looks very content in the second one. It’s normal to be a little neurotic, you’ll soon settle in a new routine. Sorry your dog found the fireworks stressful Benjamin. I’m lucky that despite Lucy being bothered by lots of noises, including me sneezing, fireworks don’t bother her, although she did jump at one on Sat night. Glad you had a nice weekend despite a power cut and construction work Patti. Poor Harrison MT!

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments Home. Spent a weekend with the grand-daughters who passed a lot of it in bed communing with their hormones! I remember it well.
Washing now, and an early night. Back in the saddle tomorrow.

Jud (judibud) | 16799 comments Oh Desley, that reminds me. I had the most horrific dream last night. I dreamt that I woke up (or I actually woke up) and really struggled to open my eyes, I could only open them a fraction and only momentarily and I couldn't move. I could see the shape of a little girl floating above me, she was like a floater but in little girl shape. I had the whole panic sensation going on when I really woke up. It still gets my heart going when I think about it.

I think it might be from reading the Dear David story a couple of days ago.

one of my colleagues is looking decidedly grey today. The temple over the road from his place has been droning prayers over loudspeakers 24/7 for days.
I'm afraid he may crack soon.

Jud that sounds a bit like sleep paralysis, your brain is either in REM mode as you wake up or as you go to sleep and your body paralyses itself while you're in REM. It's associated with hallucinations, especially things like dark or scary figures, being pinned down and that sort of thing. It's the source of loads of myths across the world, mostly involving witches or demons.
I had an episode recently, would have sworn that Narla was jumping up on the bed behind me but couldn't move to see. Even though I knew what it was, it was still scary!

✿Claire✿ (clairelm) | 2602 comments Morning everyone. Jess seems to be settling in happily. She's currently purring on my chest (which makes typing difficult!) Got to get up for work now unfortunately so she's going to be a bit miffed!

Wild! Try not to go too crazy while you're there.

We dinnae celebrate Guy Fawkes night over here, it is a bit of a contentious celebration (originally) and we have enough of them :o)

The army barracks put on a display last Thursday though, perhaps that is the compromise, somewhere in between Halloween and 5th November. There was no bonfire though.

I did wonder about sleep paralysis Desley, I think I was awake but I couldn't be sure I might have just been dreaming I was awake. I don't remember ever having had it before.

Chucking it with rain here today, I'm glad I went running yesterday :o)

Lynne (Tigger's Mum) | 4643 comments It’s more than overcast further west. It’s landing and blowing.
I had a Hyacinth Bouquet moment yesterday. Somebody put a portaloo on the pavement on our road. OH thought it might be to do with the firework display but I doubted that as there’s public toilets in the gardens further along. Anyway turns out next door but two have serious pipe problems and they are digging up their sewers. They’ve now put the portaloo right in the middle of the front lawn. Really!

It's where the fire-dancing was on! They also had spiced cider and rum.

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments And Happy Birthday, Claire! xx

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12604 comments Got to the docs slightly early and the nurse was also running early, so was done before my actual appointment time! Hurt walking back, but didn’t affect my sleep, although is sore if I rub my arm today, and holding something made it throb a bit. Bumped into a friend who I rarely see in the chemist after, that was nice. Kind of caught up on sleep. Foot was really sore this morning, but realised I could bend my toe quite well, so must have just been all the walking and don’t need to go back to the podiatrist. Got a committee meeting after work.

Sorry your colleague is struggling Patti, bet you are glad you don’t live where he does. That is marvellous Kath. Thanks for that explanation Claire, I’ve had a few occasions where I am awake and can hear things, but unable to move, nice to know where is an explanation for it. So pleased Jess is doing well. Looks like I’ll have 3 cats, I’ve been asked to decide about whether I want to continue fostering my fosters, or adopt them, they were long term fosters but looks like they want that changing.

Jud (judibud) | 16799 comments Sorry Claire, I read your comment on sleep paralysis as being by Desley!

I'm going to blame sleep deprivation and not just for this minor confusion. I'm beginning to seriously worry about myself, I have become incompetent at work. I used to be able to do any task given to me and now I can't even send a meeting request without forgetting something or getting it wrong. I'm beginning to get properly pissed off with myself.

Nathan is night weaning though so fingers crossed I'll get a future full of full night's sleep for Christmas

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12604 comments Oh dear Jud - hope you get more sleep and it helps your brain, I do sympathise, even though I sleep through, I don't feel the benefit and often get things wrong or can't remember simple words

Jud (judibud) | 16799 comments Morning!

I got 8 and a half hours of uninterrupted sleep last night!! 8 hours!!! It seems that moaning does have a purpose. Kids slept in till 7.30, I had to wake them. That was 12 hours for Kitty and 11 for Nathan, I think we might have been drugged. Fingers crossed Nathan sleeps through again tonight.

Think I've got a knot in my back again, it's so sore! Must get a massage sorted
