A story where the heroine....goes through alot of changing as she battles through every book to stay alive...lots of action and characters coming and going. Shia gets more and more entrenched in the world of The Others (non humans) and with her friend and business partner Sara find themselves abducted and held by the evil, sadistic Max the master vamp...who is a human trafficker. As much as I have enjoyed this series....I can't way it wow'd me. But it was certainly an entertaining read with lots of action and suspense.

Book: Garrison's Creed
Author:Cristin Harber
Date Read 08/29/2014
Rating: 4.5 Stars
Review: Me and Cristin Harber didn't start on good terms. I've tried the 1st book on this series and let it go after a few tries, but I couldn't put off trying another book, so I started Garrison's Creed, and what a story.
Cash is shocked, to say the least when he sees the last woman he could ever tought he could see through the lens of his rifle. Nicola was his first and last love, but he buried her body 10 years ago, when she died on an accident, and her showing up now, on a arms dealer house of all places, is just mind boggling to him.
Nicola had her reasons to stay under the radar playing dead, and now seeing Cash again is bringing back all the memories, both good and bad ones. She's a lot to explain, but there's something that never changed, which is their feelings. But 10 years have passed, and they both have changed. Could they make it work on this world full of spies and intrigues?
Loved their story, good plot, even though sometimes it was too heavy IMO on the emotional aspect and less on the action, but it did picked up and had some twists to keep me surprised. Really loved, and looking forward to Jared and Sugar's story!

Review:
Good ending (although I've seen what appears to be another cover and I'm somewhat confused on that.... *Edit* turns out it's stories 'between' the main books)
It was just a refeshing distopian that ends on a high note, which I oh-so-love (rather than a mass-murder 'let's-kill-off-all-the-characters-the-readers-love'... This is distopian done right. True to ages of characters (still hormonal- after all, they ARE teenagers), sometimes the monsters are not the ugliest thing out there... I just really liked this all around.
Anyone that is a fan of distopian that wants a slightly older read (without being anywhere near racy romance... not racy at all) and that leaves you with hope... check this series out!
Although, I stand by the fact that the 'horde'... it's Reavers from Firefly. Totally Reavers.
*Edit* I got to speak to Anne last night at a book signing, and she didn't even see Firefly for the first time until after she had written this series, but she does agree that I'm not the only one to make that connection. Totally need to check out her sci-fi Grimspace, as I hear it has the 'feel' of Firefly fanfiction (if it hadn't gotten cancelled)... and quote of the night: "boner death", and Anne said you can totally Tweet that!
Items Found
Firwork *word not outright used, but the quote CLEARLY describes a firework - the characters no longer knew the 'name' of such things* Page 368 "I jammed the artifact in the ground, as Tegan had said, lit the wick, and then we all backed up. Sparks flew, then the thing shot striaght up in the air in an orange arc, making a popping, whistling noise, then it exploded in a cascade of colors."
Magic Page 15 "These were odd and fixed, not fire at all, but more like magic from the stories Edmund told of long ago."
skull Page 46 "... smashed his way through three Freaks before I realized he was crushing their skulls with brute force."
crystal Page 12 "The irises were crystal clear, a stunning amber-yellow, with the sclera white by comparison."
Bonus: Sun Page 4 "By the time the sun crept over the horizon in delicate whorls of rose and amber,..."

I just love this author and really enjoyed her "This Man" Series. I was very excited to read this book. I am not disappointed. She provides the same angst, mystery and incredible, sexy....well you get my drift. It was awesome.
Oliva or Livy is a young 24 year old living with her elderly grandmother. She works in a coffee shop and has some deep hurts involving her mom who abandoned her at age 6. She meets the meticulous Miller Hart and his perfect suit and powder blue eyes at the shop where she works. He promises her one glorious night if she gives him 24 hours-hence the title. Livy is so taken with him she decides to throw caution to the wind and take him up on the offer.
After the amazing night he becomes enraged when he meets up with her while she is on a date. But why? It was only for one night? You can see where this is going. They spend more and more time together and Livy starts sharing her secrets about her life and Miller shares nothing. This causes her to be inquisitive and snoops around. What are all these "business meetings" that take him away at the last minute?
Well, let me tell you Miller is keeping a huge secret about himself and we along with Livy find out at the end of book 1. We get the impression he is a bit broken, and he is....but WOW I did not see that coming. Can't wait for book 2 of this trilogy. And I am sure it will be every bit as good as "This Man" Series was.

Love Unrehearsed

Review:
For anyone that enjoyed the first book of the series - what are you waiting for? A freakin' invitation? Read the darned thing!
I propose a book inspired bet: "First woman to fold." Now, to understand just how hilarious this bet is, you have to read it! Although, please place bets responsibly. I'd hate to see the sidewalks covered in bow-legged women... although that's one workout I sure would be willing to sign up for!
I honestly can't decide if I like this one, or the first one better. It's really 'true to life' with fights, divorce, cheating, weddings, movie premiers... it even has Ian Somerhalder's ass in the book. YES, Iam Somerhalder's ass, and Zac Efron's is mentioned as well. My inner theater/movie geek was enjoying the hell out of this book, and it even made my romance addicition happy. There is even lesbian kisses- but then again, what else would you expect out of Hollywoood?
One of my reasons for a half-star missing... I wanted more! Which is funny, because half of what I had to say about book #1 was that it was LONG. This one, I didn't notice if it was long (maybe listening to audio helped rather than reading like I did with #1); I wanted more. That, and there is tons of emphasis on the secondary characters in this book - it was fun, and we saw how that affected Tarryn and Ryan's relationship... but it wasn't a great hurt or anything. Just enough to knock a ½ star off.
Items Found
Flame Page 124 "He was on fire, taking me with him into the flame."
Sapphire Page 64 "His sapphire hanky and necktie suited him well."
Beer Page 68 "Ryan took a swig of beer from the bottle in his hand..."
Tongue Page 13 "...I slipped my wet lips and tongue around the length of him."
Bonus: Lightning Page 167 "The overwhelming anguish blsted uncontrollably like lightning into my chest."

Book: Son of No One

Review: Dark Hunter has to be on my top 5 ever, and I even plan to do a tattoo paying hommage to it, but love aside, I think the series has lost the edge somewhat. Before Ash's book there was this kind of waiting like crazy for his story, something to look forward too and the plot line wasn't so dificult. Now there's just about every kind of mithycal being in there and I feel like making a chart every time I read a new book. All in all, Son of No One is your typical (and I mean REAL typical) DH book. Tortured hero, crazy family and a girl who will save him. This book felt like a plataform for something new. And c'mon I can't wrap my head around the malachai, chthonian and the likes, and there are dragons now? Cadegan and Jo's story was really sweet. I don't buy the insta-love, not here not anywhere, not ever. Relationships need to grow and delevop IMHO. If not for myy beloved DH characters, I'd tought this was just some random not-that-great PNR. I do Love Miss SK, but I think it's time to regroup on the serial plotting and books ahead.
Items Found:
FLAME: Thorn moved to sit before his fire and stare into flames. LOC 373
LIGHTNING: Dodging the lightning strikes and daring it to come for you. LOC: 383

SOLDIER: but she had to deal with Valac’s soldiers first. LOC: 369
FOREHEAD: Styxx kissed her on the forehead. LOC: 303

Thanks, Dyllan!
P.S. Stupid question... what's special about 'super bonus week'?

I'm all for trying to pick up the pace and what-not, but I have a harder time with multiple specific words (to look for in a specific week) So many of my books are audio, and many of them are not 'searchable' on Amazon since they are Indie... I'd be willing to try to stick to certain words in a week, I just don't know that I'd succeed 100%

I've had luck this round so far. Flame was the 1st word I've claimed before. I have 3 words on most columns to finish. I'll search later and put in here, and if everybody is ok with it, we can try and match. :)

Water, Wind, Magic, Emerald, Pearl, Dinner, Present, Eyelash, Pupil, Ear
Katya Needs:
Fire, Water, Air, Wind, Emerald, Onyx, Heart, Beer, Dinner, Pupil, Tongue, Mustache
(I) Alana Needs:
Fire, Earth, Water, Rock, Diamond, Onyx, Egg, Flag, Dinner, Eyebrow, Pupil
Suzanne Needs:
Wind, Magic, Jewelry, Onyx, Soldier, Present, Ear, Forehead

Air & Wind....Emerald....Beer....Tongue & Prince....still reading it will post when I finish.

If anyone is looking for pupil, magic, Water, air, prince, heart, onyx (and probably more that I don't remember)

I have put off reading this...not sure why. I was looking for a book to fit all my criteria for a challenge and this one stepped up. Wow. what a great story. Girl finds very erotic diaries in a storage locker of a woman....why is this woman's life packed up? Why did she loose so many things which are so personal to her? Sara, a high school teacher on summer vacation goes to find out why and return these items to her.
She goes to Rebecca's place of work, an art gallery.....and finds out from the owner, a very controlling Mark that Rebecca is missing...on an extended vacation, having run off with her millionaire boyfriend. Since Sara a degree in art, and Mark is intrigued by her, he hires her for the summer. Is Mark the man in Rebecca's diaries? hmmmmm.
Right away, she meets Chris, a famous and very sexy artist she admires and quickly falls into a relationship with him. One which starts with just sex and quickly morphs into so much more. Is Chris some how involved with Rebecca's disappearance? Why does he and Mark dislike each other so much? What secrets does Chris hold? It is all so mysterious.
Great first part of the story...enjoying the read so far will continue with book 2.

Soldier: "Only he isn't like a hired man. A soldier, maybe." Page 41

Prince: "If he had not, he would be your First Prince of the Sword in my place." Page 557

Otherwise... I guess I need something with Prince? It would suck not to get the extra bonus point because of me... and I'm limited because I'm without internet at the house until Friday afternoon. *Sigh* Sucks being poor.

Review:
It's over! "Tink's a Disney whore!" What am I going to do without Jenks, rachel, Ivy, Trent, and the gang? It's with a heavy, but happy heart that I give a bunny-eared kiss farwell to one of my favorite series. It was everything I wanted... well OK I'll admit there was one little thing that I wanted to not be a 'red herring' but it was, and I can live with that; thought I was SO clever thinking one thing and it was just background color instead of the answer to everything. *Sigh* But that's why I'm not a writer, and Kim Harrison is.
It must also be said (*glares at some other PNR and Urban Fantasy writers out there*) THIS is how you end a series. No angry mobs of readers, no hate mail, no threats of getting your house egged... AND still true to the world, the story, and the characters. Can I just say how freakin' happy I am that I still love the entire series after this last book. It will definitely be a beloved re-read series for me until my reading time in this world is over.
Plan C for the win!

Review: Omg, this book was long and drawn out and boring as all get out. I was hoping it was like Terry Goodkind but it wasn't. It was awful!! It took some massive willpower to finish this book. This audio book was 27 CDs, 10 of them were pure scenery description. Let's talk about every blade of grass in this meadow just for the heck of it. Gahhhhh....
