A boy who died get 1st assignment as a guardian angel to a girl

Not sure why the boy died (I think it’s some freak accident or something, he is also a typical popular kid in his school with that attitude) and if I’m not wrong he couldn’t yet go to heaven before completing a task or gets to heaven but still have to work as a Guardian angel. Then he gets his 1st assignment which is to be a guardian angel to this young girl in her early teens.

I think the story is set in England but I could be wrong. The girl is kind of a loser, from a lower income family and doesn’t care about taking care of her appearance much, nobody cares for and even get bullied at times I think. The angel boy tries his best to get her to change and do something positive in her life but it doesn’t work.

So, he lets the supervising Angel know that in order to help her, he must go in person in human form to her. The supervisor disagrees but the angel boy convinces him and enters the school as a new good looking cool kid. Everyone likes him and wanna be his friend but he shows his preference for this loser girl (his charge). He tries to be nice and wants to befriend her to her dismay. She avoids him, scolds him in front of other students.

At the same time, another popular kid at school who used to look down on the girl (bully her at times I think) finds this angel boy as a competition. This kid joins the angel boy to gain attention from this girl who finally start to make some changes to her appearance and look much cleaner etc.

There’s a scene where this two boys are physically start to fight or something and the girl stops them both and says, if they continue to fight like this then she will stop talking to both of them.

At the end, the girl sort of gets popular and liked by others and the local popular kid is into her for real and the angel being satisfied, leaves - disappears back to his non-corporeal angel self.

Not sure if this is part of a series, if it is then it’s high chance that’s it’s the first book. Anyone knows the book?
