November Group Read #1-Those Across the River
YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I cannot wait to read it . It's been on my shelf (literally) for almost a year lol.
Excellent choice! I listened to this one month's ago and hated to turn it off when I had to. His vampire books are great.
I just finished reading this book last month. I wish I hadn't so I could read it all over again (for the first time). Really enjoyable!
I got and started this one a bit early, maybe a third of the way into it now. Enjoying ths sparser prose, versus the lava flow of similes and metaphors I’ve found myself wading through on occasion.Only quibble I have (and it’s just that, a quibble) is that it took me a bit in the beginning to figure out what time period we were in. But then, that might have been intentional on the author’s part, for reasons known only to the gentleman himself, so I shan’t judge him harshly for that, lessen I hear otherwise.
Walter wroteI had the same 'quibble' and did some research. The year is 1935. Franck is 36 and his wife Dora is 24.
Finished it last night. Thoroughly enjoyed it. The Great Depression era atmosphere gave the story considerable added dimension.

Finished it last night. The author has got a new fan! Going to add his other novels to my tbr list :)
This is a terrific story. I loved the foreshadowing vibe of the Pig Chase. The ending is perfect.
I just started it this afternoon, and I love it so far! The time period and location really set the mood. This is the first time I've read anything by this author. I need to search out what else he has written.
I finally started it today! (aside from the prologue that I read last weeK). Enjoying the prose.

I think so, too.
^00^
Aahroooooooooo! (my pathetic howl...)
Finishing up a book right now (Hex by Thomas Olde Heuvelt) but should be able to start it on Tuesday. Coming late to the party---but I brought doughnuts! Hello everyone.

Chris wrote: "I am going to listen to it which may give me a different perspective on the book."Given that the story is told in the first person, and how well crafted a tale it is, I’m guessing it will make excellent listening as an audiobook.

Yeah, this was a great one. Hadn't read enough about it to have expectations, so I was surprised. And the ending was great.

I really wanna listen to it sometime cuz I love that book.I haven't started TATR yet lol. I think I'll bring it with me on vacation tomorrow.
John wrote: "You guys should listen to "The Suicide Motor Club!" It's gotta be the best narration by the author I've ever heard!"Glad to heart it. I have that one.
The Lesser Dead is also narrated by the author and it’s KILLER on audio. It’s my favorite Buehlman, but I’ve enjoyed them all. 🙂

Really enjoying this. So much that i added all of his other books to my Kindle wish list. Thinking now from what you guys are saying that I should get the audio books instead. On the topic of this book--I am loving the between the wars time frame of this book.
The beginning captured my attention, but I found the pacing too slow during the next 2/3 or so . . . (view spoiler)
