Small Mercies by Aussie author Richard Anderson is brand new and an excellent read about a couple dealing with drought and doubt and two adult sons.

Stoner by John Williams is one of those books I've been saving for a 'rainy day'. I figure a pandemic qualifies, and my goodness, I'm glad I had such a good one tucked away. Terrific!

I agree with you, Hannah. It was disappointing. I read it and also gave it 2 stars.
Here are two that have nothing much in common except for the fact that they're the latest books I've enjoyed:On Lies, Secrets, and Silence: Selected Prose, 1966-1978 by Adrienne Rich

Even for Jeanette Winterson this is an unusual, funny, thought-provoking, historical fiction/sci-fi/sex-romp/love story. I’m not surprised Frankissstein: A Love Story was long-listed for the 2019 Booker. Hilarious and scary!

I have finished the Gothic horror Melmoth the Wanderer. I do NOT recommend it! But it is a classic so possibly others will see something of worth in it that escaped me...https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
I finished Oblomov by Ivan Goncharov about a Russian landowner and one of the most endearing couch potatoes in all of literature. This is a re-read for me, and I loved it as much now as I did when I first read it eons ago.

I've finished A Conjuring of Light, the final book in the Shades of Magic trilogy, by V.E. Schwab.https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
Finally got around to reading this literary science fiction classic:A Canticle for Leibowitz byWalter M. Miller Jr. - 5 stars - My Review
A couple of days ago I finished The Secrets Between Us by Thrity Umrigar the sequel to The Space Between Us. Huge fan of both books, gave them 5 unequivocal stars, didn't think it possible but enjoyed the sequel even more. Here’s my review.

I liked the premise of this climate-based apocalyptic fiction (not so much the execution):Rivers by Michael Farris Smith - 3 stars - My Review
