Stephen (gattman) | 12 comments Finished Rage of Dragons by Evan Winter. I almost quit the book early on. So many characters with unusual names was hard keeping things straight. But then the action picked up and really enjoyed the 2nd half of the book. Give it 3.5 to 4 stars. I think it's the first book I've ever "E-Read". I still prefer an actual book. Old-School lol.

I have heard good things about that book - I'll have to try harder to find time for it.

Petra | 3324 comments I finished reading Fools Crow today and I thoroughly enjoyed it.
Told from the perspective of the Pikuni Blackfoot Natives, this story tells of the confusion and disruption White men brought with them to this land. Well told.

Joanne Eaton (andy100) | 44 comments I have been reading some of the poems of Edgar Allan Poe and his most famous poem The Raven was really enjoyable to see again after so long. His imagination knew no bounds and he has an uncanny ability to build up tension and suspense in his writing. Some of his short stories are the stuff of nightmares and i really am enjoying my book Selected Tales by him.

Petra | 3324 comments I've enjoyed a few of the Andy Carpenter series and decided to start from the beginning to get some back story. This series is very character-driven, which I enjoy.

Open and Shut is the first of the Andy Carpenter series. I enjoyed meeting him at the start of this series and learning about his beginnings.
My review of this book and the others in this series does not mention the mystery. I find these books more character-driven. The mysteries are to remain a mystery until they are read. They are entertaining.

PattyMacDotComma I recently read the perfectly titled Sweet Sorrow by David Nicholls. Young summer love, Shakespeare, and much ado about lots of things, romantic and otherwise.

PattyMacDotComma I loved Aussie author Tabitha Bird's debut novel A Lifetime of Impossible Days. It does cover a lifetime, and it is impossible, but I was happy to suspend disbelief and enjoy her fine character/s!

Lesley and Laura, these are cozy, comfort mysteries, with a warm, humorous character and dogs. As with most series, the first book isn't the best, it's an introduction to all the characters. I've read some of the others in the series and it gets better. Unfortunately, it seems that the second of the series is out of print. I'm on the hunt for a copy, though. There must be a few around.
I recommend this series as a fun and entertaining read.

Katz Nancy from NJ (nancyk18) I am halfway through Leaving Everything Most Loved by Jacqueline Winspear and really enjoying this book.
The main character, Maisie Dobbs is one feisty psychologist/detective you won’t soon forget. I’m not much of. Mystery/Thriller reader but the first book I read in this series was recommended to me by a book
seller at Barnes & Noble and I am forever grateful to her. This series so far is 15 books and begins before WWI and is now up to WWII. This is the 10th book I can safely say that each one is a winner.
