Stephen (gattman) | 12 comments For those that like Fantasy Books... I'm reading, Age of Legend, the 4th book in Michael J Sullivan's Legends of the First Empire Series. Book 1 was good, the 2nd and 3rd were terrific.

Set in World War II in Poland. It's short, powerful, and brilliant.

PattyMacDotComma I recently enjoyed the prequel (#.7) to Aussie-Irish author Dervla McTiernan's excellent Cormac Reilly mystery series. The Roommate is delightfully creepy.

PattyMacDotComma Loved Death in Delft! This is the first of a brand new series from Graham Brack, (creator of my favourite Czech detective, Josef Slonsky). Master Mercurius is already another favourite character.

message 5489: by Nancy from NJ (new)

Katz Nancy from NJ (nancyk18) I just finished reading Summer of ‘69 by Elin Hilderbrand and rated it with 3 Stars. While I have read this author and enjoyed some of her books especially The Blue Bistro, I found this book very mediocre. I didn’t like any of the characters, thought they weren’t unique or interesting. And since I was in college during the 60’s and remember the summer of ‘69, I think the author missed the true essence of that summer. I rated it with a 3 because of the subject matter rather than the finished product.

Finished yesterday The Floating Opera by John Barth.
Strange book; it was given me by a book-friend and therefore I've read it, also because BArth was an author I had a seminar on in University. At that time I read The Sot-Weed Factor, and, even if as strange as this one, I have to admit I liked it better ...
