In fact I bought it because you talked so well about it. It is really worth to be read despite those repetitions.

I looked for it right now. It's interesting! I hope it will be broadcasted in the small theater I usually go.

PattyMacDotComma, review of Lincoln in the Bardo by George Saunders on Goodreads.

[This is a totally tongue-in-cheek parody of the reference style used to such great effect throughout the book. :)]

Having a problem with Goodreads and cannot add the book link. I'll try to fix it later.

The fifth installment in the Anne books.

Sorry, no. But how did you get it? I saw a banner but was busy at the time and didn't click on it & it has now vanished...

It talks about how faith should "humanize" the human being, but also that faith shouldn't be lived in a rigid way, but it should help to open to other people and emphatize with them.

Thanks -- I have found it :)

Eleven Pipers Piping started slow and I was on the fence at first. But the characters and their squabbles ..."
Eleven Pipers was my favorite of the 3, probably because of the bagpipes, Burns Night, haggis, and all that. The first book required a second reading for me, with a notepad where I started keeping a detailed list of all the characters and the backstory of Father Christmas. But maybe all that paid off, because I felt so invested in it by then. I loved his quirky daughter, and his secretary, of course, with her notes to her Mum all the time.

There are a lot of characters. :D
I like Madrun, too. Her letters to her Mum are hilarious. I didn't put much thought into the daughter, I have to admit. I found her love of French a little strange for a child that age but that's a great skill to have so early in life.

The second book was

Finished yestarday A Great Reckoning by Louise Penny and loved it as much as almost all the others. I find astonishing that a writer of mystery - a genre that I love but that I don't consider what is definied as "high literature" - can write such deep books, in such a light manner.

Great review, Christie. I liked the book as well but I do agree I felt like there were a lot of loose ends.

Thanks, Heather. I particularly marvel at her ability to switch between different jargons, play with words and ........I like the strength of character Daniel imbibed in Elisabeth. I like how one character molds another.
