On a suggestion of a friend of mine - closed up in Lombardy as we all are around the world - I'm reading a French noir Blood Wedding by Pierre Lemaitre.
If you like the genre to be recomended. Watch out though, pretty tough!!!

Katz Nancy from NJ (nancyk18) Finished reading The Paris House by Alex George which I didn’t much enjoy. Now I am reading a The Secret of the Castle du Reve by Hannah Emery which pulled me in from the first page.

Katz Nancy from NJ (nancyk18) I hope I can finish my current book, The Secret of Castle Du Reve. While it started out well enough it has gone downhill and I would love to start another book.

message 2711: by Nancy from NJ (new)

Katz Nancy from NJ (nancyk18) I am almost reluctant to begin a new book since my last two weren’t very good. I wonder if I’m going into a case if the book blahs.

It's a wonderful read thanks Christine. What are you reading now?

Oh, I hope not, Nancy. Sometimes you just have a run of books that don't live up to your expectations. Maybe delve into an old favourite for a comfort read. Happy reading 😷❤😍📚

Katz Nancy from NJ (nancyk18) Sandy - all I hear about these days is the “I can’t seem to read.” I even read that editors are having a difficult time reading. I wonder why this is the case? Maybe we’re having trouble concentrating, too much time
on our hands and we can do this later or we’re not choosing the right books for us.

What do you and other members think?

message 2716: by Kim (new)

Kim (kimborams) | 512 comments Reference what Katz Nancy was saying about reading less, with me it has actually been the opposite, possibly because I still get up at the same time as I would when travelling to work but now spending the travelling time reading before I settle down to work from home!
I have found though that I'm a bit more critical of books and not rating as high, I don't think!!

message 2717: by Nancy from NJ (new)

Katz Nancy from NJ (nancyk18) I’m sorry I don’t know your full name but....we are both retired and wake up very early around 5 so it’s not for lack of time. My problem is I don’t always read what I would like to so.....and I have so many books on my kindle which were low priced that I would like to lessen the number of books and reading them is one way. Still I keep buying them since I am a book hoarder. I just think all of doing very little has really played with my brain.

Katz Nancy from NJ (nancyk18) Has any body read Normal People by Sally Rooney? We began watching this movie on Netflix and so far it’s intriguing. The reviews from newspapers and magazines were great but reviews on Amazon were rather divided.

message 2719: by Nidhi (new)

Nidhi Kumari | 432 comments I have read it and liked it.4 stars. But it’s not for everybody just a simple story of unconditional love and trust between a girl and a boy. Narration is fantastic.

Most of the time I have no trouble reading, Nancy. Usually only when a book isn't really interesting me, or I have something that I am really worried about. I think that this Covid-19 pandemic and its economic aftermath are worrying a lot of people. But I have learned not to worry about things that I cannot change. I can only do what I can to protect myself and my family. The rest of it is out of my hands.
