Joan - I’m listening to the Dandelion Wine audiobook also. I have the one narrated by Paul Michael Garcia. I see there is also one narrated by Stephen Hoye. I rarely listen to audiobooks so I don’t know anything about narrators.

Just started
The Heart of the Ritz by Luke Devenish after finishing the stunning conclusion to J.D. Barker's trilogy
The Sixth Wicked Child. My spoiler free review can be found at https://www.goodreads.com/review/show... and on my webpage https://sandysbookaday.wordpress.com/...
The school of essential ingredients by Erica Baurmeister. Loved it. Now heading for the next part The lost art of mixing.
At the moment I'm listening to His Grace of Osmonde: Being the Portions of the Nobleman's Life Omitted in the Relation of His Lady's Story Presented to the World of Fashion - as other side of A Lady Of Quality that I've just finished: I love Frances Hodgson Burnett!
And yesterday I've just started Child 44 and Il rumore della pioggia. Hope they're nice!!!

"And yesterday I've just started Child 44 and Il rumore della pioggia. Hope they're nice!!!"Child 44 was very good but definitely not nice - alongside the quite gory murders it details the horrors of life during the communist regime just before Stalin's death.
About to start
Elevator Pitch by Linwood Barclay after finishing an emotional read about WWII in the German occupied island of Jersey
The Hidden by Mary Chamberlain. My spoiler free review can be found at https://www.goodreads.com/review/show... and my webpage https://sandysbookaday.wordpress.com/...

I'm liking it this far; a bit ... how can I say, "anxsious" if you see what I mean. I believe that life in USSR in the 50s was .. complicated, to say the least of it, but to think that, no matter what you did, you never knew if you could survive a slander ... well, that is really terrible to think about!

To think of these circumstances as "real life" is scary. One couldn't go to the grocery store without fear of someone turning you in for some made up story.

Exactly what I thought!!!!!
Exactly what I thought!!!!!
Just finished A Fine Balance which left me raw and speechless. Now onto something light and easy: The Lying Game.
Currently listening to:
Das goldene Ufer
The Winter Soldier, quite a novel! Multilayered - history, psychology, morality & sociology, so the reader can take it in any way they like.
Next up is
My Name is Eva: An absolutely gripping and emotional historical novel by Suzanne Goldring. I have just finished the thrilling
Elevator Pitch by Linwood Barclay. My spoiler free review can be found at https://www.goodreads.com/review/show... and my webpage https://sandysbookaday.wordpress.com/...
Started yesterday my secon read of The Fortune of the Rougons by Émile Zola, read the first time in a buddy read here with our beloved and never forgotten Gill. I've loved it the first time with them, loving it now, for more than one reason then
Currently listening to Audible's recording of Wuthering Heights, read by Joanne Froggatt. One of those books that you hear so much about you think you've surely read it long ago. But clearly I haven't! It is not at all what I expected. Enjoying it!

She was precious!

I'm currently reading a short story/poetry collection by British Muslim Women. it's The Things I Would Tell You edited by Sabrina Mahfouz. a very intriguing collection. I didn't get all the poems so far but I'm enjoying it.
Am about to start
The Last Voyage of Mrs Henry Parker by Joanna Nell after finishing Sibel Hodge's latest winner
Their Last Breath. My spoiler free review can be found at https://www.goodreads.com/review/show... and my webpage https://sandysbookaday.wordpress.com/...
About to start
No Time to Say Goodbye: A heartbreaking and gripping emotional page turner by Kate Hewitt after finishing what was, for me, a disappointing read of
The Forgotten Child by D.E. White. My spoiler free review can be found at https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
I am torn between 2 cozies:Ghostal Living by Kathleen Bridge
By Book or By Crook by Eva Gates
I will try both at once. The book that holds my attention wins.
Starting
Where She Went by Kelly Simmons after finishing the magical
The World That We Knew by Alice Hoffman. My spoiler free review can be found at https://www.goodreads.com/review/show... and on my webpage https://sandysbookaday.wordpress.com/...
I finished and really enjoyed The Women of the Copper Country by Mary Doria Russell. I'm almost finished with That Old Ace in the Hole by Annie Proulx. It's a little slow but I still like it! I'm curious where it's going. After finishing it, I'm thinking about switching to sci-fi and reading Altered Carbon by Richard K. Morgan for a real-life SF book club.
Just started
The Lying Room by Nicci French after finishing
Where She Went by Kelly Simmons. My spoiler free review can be found at https://www.goodreads.com/review/show... and my webpage https://sandysbookaday.wordpress.com/...
I have The Perfect Wife here, but need to take it out of the library bag and start reading it! I am currently reading Green Mars and Hard Eight plus a couple of classics, Can You Forgive Her? and A Passage to India.
I listened to the audiobook version of Hillbilly Elegy: A Memoir of a Family and Culture in Crisis; I found it interesting, informative, moving and frustrating. The narration is good.I tried and abandoned The Friend by Sigrid Nunez. The writing style isn’t for me.
I'm at the moment re-reading The Closed Circle by Jonathan Coe and enjoying it quite a lot. Looking forward to the third part, Middle England
I am reading the The Seven Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle. It is completely captivating.Reliving days has become a bit of a theme in recent fiction but this is different and so well written. I hope the ending fulfils the thrilling potential.
Started Bones to Ashes by Kathy Reichs. It is part of a series, but so far the book does well as a stand alone read.
I am opening The Understory by Pamela Erens. It is highly-acclaimed by Goodreads, so I expect a great reading experience.
I've been listening to The Race Beat: The Press, the Civil Rights Struggle, and the Awakening of a Nation by Gene Roberts
Just finished the five star
Deadly Harm by Owen Mullen My spoiler free review can be found at https://www.goodreads.com/review/show... and my webpage https://sandysbookaday.wordpress.com/...Next up is
The Bright Unknown by Elizabeth Byler Younts
Leslie wrote: "I am reading The Castle by Kafka (in small portions!)..."That's an amazing book, Leslie (and welcome back!)
I am reading Fahrenheit 451.Like so much older science fiction it has some great ideas but is a slow read because it feels so dated. The women are hysterical and/or insipid and there is a lot of wordy philophising and inner dialogue.
Leslie wrote: "I am reading The Castle by Kafka (in small portions!) and East of Eden by Steinbeck in audiobook."I loved East of Eden, Leslie. It's a powerful novel. I hope you enjoy it.
