suzysunshine7 | 16038 comments ! 3 DAYS TO GO UNTIL POUNDLAND STARTS SELLING TWIN PEAKS AGAIN !

And I know this because I am currently seeing lots of countdown reminders about it online every day now - LOL!!! ;o>

I missed out on trying this Poundland version of Toblerone the first time around. It's not that I am all that much of a Toblerone fan - I've always found them to be almost impossible to break up with your Fingers and far too hard and painfully challenging to want to risk sore Gums or breaking Teeth over by biting pieces off. I was just interested because of all the hype over them which was then followed on by the Court Case.

This time around the shape of them has apparently changed yet again and the news of their imminent return has received a mixed response - as it seems people either loved or hated them.

I just like buying something that is new and a bit different now and then - and so I'll hopefully get four ... one each for M&D's Christmas Stocking, and one for me ... and one to try out now because I don't want to wait until December to finally get to find out if I really do like them?! - LOL!!! ;o>

Craig White | 6727 comments coincidentally, we flung out a half eaten 'twin peaks' on sunday - it had been in the bottom of a tupperware box thing since last year! having said that, they are unspeakably toothsome, both better in taste and in value than a toblerone! and having said that, it would be amusing if david lynch's people now decided to take poondland to court for intellectual theft!

When I read 'Twin Peaks'..i immediately thought of the TV series..and thought..well what special about that..it's been out for decades!

I'd haven't heard of Poundland's version of the infamous Swiss confectionary..nor the legal issues...but then..I've not been inside a poundland, much less eaten a Toberlone! :)

I wonder if the two products are of similar taste and texture.

i'd say yes, but miss tech works in 'poondland', so i can take advantage of her staff discount, which works out at f*** aw %, except for one weekend in mid dec when the staff can go nuts for a whole 10% off! last year she went on an almighty spree which lightened her purse by £2.70! i advised her that the bailiffs would be at the door!

I've still got £4 in my pocket that Mrs Grizzly gave to me months ago - might have to spend it before the Mint change the coins again and I end up with a pocket full of scrap metal! :)

Dinner today is a lamb casserole which has been in the oven on a low heat since eleven o' clock this morning - the chunks of meat are lovely and tender, having just tried a piece for quality control purposes :)

It's got enough legs for it! Wonder how spiders communicate? All I've ever heard is a hissing noise they make, usually, when one gets too close to one...which in my case..is only ever by accident!

There's a simonscat official channel on YT, where pretty much all the clips are there..including some other stuff the creator Simon Tofield has done. He owns 6 cats, of which the two main characters (the other is a cute naughty kitten!) are based off them.

Check out one of my favourites 'Snow Business', the bird just cracks me up! :)

Val H. | 22152 comments From cats to birds (and I have long believed that Simon's Cat was modelled on our Charlie - behaviourally, he's a dead ringer), I know there are a lot of bird-lovers here so some may be interested to watch the live stream of these peregrine falcon chicks.

It's dark here now so they are sleeping at this minute:

http://www.367collinsfalcons.com.au/

" Three peregrine falcon chicks have just hatched on a ledge 33 floors above Melbourne and are a fitting reward for a brave pair of long term lovers. The falcon parents, who mate for life, tragically lost their chicks last year when it’s believed they inadvertently fed them poisoned pigeon. Now, thanks to a live webstream, surrogate human parents can watch the daily challenges of chick raising in real time. And with peregrine falcons being the fastest animal in the world (flying up to 390km/hr), it’s safe to say these babies will grow up fast. Very fast."

suzysunshine7 | 16038 comments 'Scone with the Wind: Cakes and Bakes with a Literary Twist' by Miss Victoria Sponge turned up today ;o>

I have had a quick look through it and it certainly does look to be packed with Cake, and Biscuit, and Dessert Recipes - although unfortunately there doesn't seem to be anything that is all that new or unusual in it to be of any great interest to me and that is what I am always hoping for from my Bookshelf collection of Baking Books nowadays.

It has gone for wasting quite a few Pages on using basic cartoon illustrations instead of showing any much more attractive and also really useful photographs - which is a little disappointing - but a fairly common complaint with a lot of cookbooks.

I have decided to gift it on to a Neighbour, who has only just started getting into Baking, as I think she will get quite a kick out of using it with her six year old Daughter ;o>

I rarely tend to buy any Books these days but I would definitely use the Website again ... 'Booksplease.com' ... the Book came in immaculate condition, was well-packaged, and it arrived within 5 days of ordering it.

message 2099: by suzysunshine7 (last edited Oct 04, 2018 09:19AM) (new)

suzysunshine7 | 16038 comments I had better post a follow up on the Tree that I ordered for M&D's Emerald Wedding Anniversary, hadn't I? Well, I hadn't heard anything after 11 days - but 'Crocus.co uk' had stated that the Delivery would be 'within 3 weeks' and it wasn't essential for it to arrive on the actual day as I also had other gifts for M&D.

I emailed them though, just to see if they could give me some idea on when it might come, and got a very friendly answer within hours that they were in Stock already, earlier than had been previously anticipated, and that I could expect my Order within the next 2 to 3 days.

So, in the end, the Emerald Lace Acer arrived on the evening before the big day itself. The huge Box was very sturdy and undamaged and the Tree was very carefully packed and secured so it had suffered no harm in it's transit.

To be absolutely honest, I was a little bit disappointed though? The small Tree had unusually been trimmed back in a couple of places and three of untrimmed ends were a pale brown colour and looked to be dead? However, my Mum is the Gardener in our family, and she keeps on saying that she is absolutely thrilled and delighted with it ;o>

She says that, while admittedly it isn't exactly the healthiest of Plants right now and has clearly suffered from some Wind Damage, that is only to be expected at this time of year - and that all that it needs is a bit of extra TLC and to get to spend the Winter in a pot in the Greenhouse to help nurture it on and protect it from the worst of the Weather.

I have a feeling that if I had kept to my original Order with 'Tree2mydoor.com', and paid double for it through them, it would probably have arrived in a similar condition as they are very likely to also use the same Growers to source their Website Stock from - so I'm a happy bunny on that score.

My Mum is such an excellent Gardener, so M&D's Anniversary Tree is in great hands, and it should soon rally round and start thriving as a very welcome addition to the Back Garden ;o>

And would I buy from 'Crocus.co.uk' again? ... Yes, I would ;o>

Suzy, I bought my acer from Crocus sometime last year. It was really small and brown and didn’t look well at all and I didn’t expect it to survive. I covered it with frost protector over the Winter and it’s really healthy now. See pic on my profile.
