re: MEDICAL MC (for bandages) - I've requested a book where the lead char is a doctor ... Heart and Soul
But it's out and I have to wait for it ... So if someone else has one that fits, go for it and I'll use this one for watts/energy.

I've used amazon "look inside" to check the books I currently have in progress ... no white dresses, no weddings, no scars, no obvious geniuses. No red covers, either. Three of these are books I need to read for my F2F book clubs, so I can't put them off ... but at least they'll count for energy.

I hear you! I really don't like those tasks where you have to read the actual book/work that hard to find out books that fit (some feedback from the mods I guess.) But it's perfectly find to use those books as Energy! I don't have a set books to read this month so I know I can find something that fits if you guys are having trouble.

How it fits
Quote from the first book in the series...
"In the end, he had to settle for mostly clean, raking his shaggy black hair into some semblance of order with his fingers and wishing he’d had a chance to get it trimmed before his life had gone down the drain. "

D.G. | 1 comments Of course, this was the time the library card to my most used library decided to expire..Sigh...I'll have to go to Brooklyn to get it renewed.

Also, I want to start before the 'scars' book. I don't think it fit any other of the tasks so i'll have to go to energy.

that sucks - is Brooklyn far? and just cuz I'm nosy - is this a library card you have to pay for as it's out of your 'district' or whatever it's called for libraries?

Brooklyn is not far...I decided to go today and it took me about half hour each way (by bus) to go the closest library that's open on a Saturday. :) Renewing the actual library card took like 20 seconds, LOL!

I don't have to pay for this library card. Anybody who lives in NY state can get library cards to any of the NYC libraries. That's how I happen to have 3 library cards because for some reason, we have 3 different library systems in NYC - Brooklyn, NY and Queens.

Here are the tasks left for the Bride: Medical MC, Genius MC, Red Cover

We're also missing 11 energy tasks (for both monsters) so if you don't have anything that fits the above, you can always work on energy. :)

Marty (martymill) | 1304 comments Okay, I found a couple.

1 medical MC (for the bandages): The Book of Madness and Cures by Regina O'Melveny

320 pages

1 genius MC (for the brains): The Testing (The Testing, #1) by Joelle Charbonneau (Listed on the Genius Main Characters list
325 pages

message 175: by D.G. (last edited Oct 14, 2017 03:18PM) (new)

D.G. | 1 comments Hey Marty - According to the Mod, just because a book is on a listopia doesn't mean that it actually qualifies for the task. In the case of your first book, the description makes it clear that it qualifies but not in the case of the second - we can't tell whether or not the character is a 'genius'. Can you ask in the Q&A thread if the book fits?

Sorry to have to ask but I wouldn't want you to read the book and then find out it didn't fit! (Although we could always use it for 'Energy'.)

(I'll put you for the medical book and wait until you find out about the second...)

That is so cool. Nothing like that here that I'm aware of which is a bummer :(

message 177: by D.G. (new)

D.G. | 1 comments Yeah, it's pretty cool, specially since both the Brooklyn and NYPL have a great audiobook selections (although recently I find they are not getting as many audios...I think this be the publisher's fault though.)

I know, I am reading Carrie and I thought it was going to have an orange / red cover but the one I got from the library is black.

message 180: by D.G. (last edited Oct 15, 2017 05:09AM) (new)

D.G. | 1 comments Hey Jane - Is that Carrie by Stephen King? That was made into a movie...given that the 'genius' task seems to be increasingly difficult (we cannot use listopias and IQ/geniusness is not mentioned as much in descriptions), maybe we can use 'Frankestein' for genius and use 'Carrie' for 'made into a movie'?

Please let me know if that works for you.

Okay, since it looks like D.G. has the red cover, well, covered (couldn't help myself), I'll concentrate on the medical MC & the Energy books. I don't see a particular topic requirement for those or am I missing it somewhere? I'll use The Testing (The Testing, #1) by Joelle Charbonneau for Energy. Qualified Books:

🔌 Graphic novels and poetry books ARE NOT allowed.
🔌 Anthologies are fine, but you must read the entire book.
