I noticed that you deffo tend towards the planning end of the continuum so....and this is a note for everyone...how about y'all just go ahead and firm up your own schedules and I will just fit myself around everyone else's plans? As for me, if I really want something to happen...it usually jezzt....magically turns up and falls into my lap anyway...like Broken Empire or RQW or Harry Potter or Robin Hobb or the Golden Key or all them classics reads...literally, they jezzt somehow happen...somehow I'm very lucky like that...😊

If I need something I will directly ask for it tho'...like I did with A Monster Calls. But, most of the time I'm happy to just fall in and march behind the already-flying pennants.

You should ask Ron and Mayim and Petrik and Arkadeb) bcuz I only finished the first book Dani...Gardens of the Moom.
It took me two and a half months but I almost read it thru twice over...going back many times. Since I missed the BR bonus and also sacrificed so many points for reading it twice... ...felt unethical and sleazy to take the book twice...when I was only ever recapping each time I broke off.

Then immediately I started the second book but when all the chars were new...I felt there was no point giving the time and sacrificing so many points when I could do better by stacking more & faster BRs. So I left it. But I am totally going to restart Book 2 once I can give it undivided attention...😂 cunningly I interrogated Jaykro about EACH PERSON in the series and whether or not they will die in the book. Haha, he was so patient and also too frustrating bcuz he didn't reveal much of what the "bad thing" will be.

Everyone finds the series dense and time~/attention-consuming and there are so many clues to hunt and connections to make. Everyone seems to develop their own special and strange relationship with this series, as with the Cosmere.
I am not good at such things as finding clues and making connections...I am not eagle-eyes observant + any guesses I make and conclusions I draw are usually horribly wrong.
Altho' @Jaykro was very encouraging of my paltry attempts...

In addition my cognitive process is diffuse and tends towards the (creepy) abstractions. Mostly my reaction to this series tends towards the philosophic and the diabolic...when it comes to these books my thoughts spread outwards...so...while I am engaged by the story and chars I am almost painfully sensitised by the responses these books provoke.
These are not shareable things...much...I don't think.

If I share them, indications are that they will only appear pompous/pretentious and bombastic and threadstealing and unanswerable and ruining of people's enjoyment in the sheer scale and size of the story. I am not faking this, Dan. Is true. So I (very cunningly) stay quiet bcuz I don't want to ruin it for everyone + be a pompouspreachy arse and crashing bore to boot + let us not be forgetting the malazan lightning rod jinx.
Thus, Oonagh quietly and solitarily worships the Dark Goddess with wordy ablutions in papery glades + stays well away from the community devotions ;-)

But if you really want to sample...I can share you one of my Malaz writings and you can see the mindfunkery for yourself. You are of a thinking and literary turn yourself, no? It may be something you might enjoy...but will you care...since this is not a series you'd want to get into? I remember you and Manju both said the writing style was totally not for you + aaaaaargh + put it off, mebbe forever. I dont want to spaz about taking aphoto and upmoading it and bla bla if you'd rather not. That'd just be pathetic...

Wouldn't you be better off just reading all the things that Sauron said one day longago? He loves it very much...I am only 1/10th of the way in...

The only reason why I'm in so much of a planning fervour is that I'm going to disappear off Goodreads mostly ( except for chatting in these threads because you sneaky lovable people have got me addicted to it here ) from a couple of days to end of December for exams.

And the idea that I have such good books with such amazing people to read is going to a. Motivate me and b. Keep me going without joining any BR's.

Nooo - the second isnt good enough - it is a very normal tropy HR - you have to deffo( you use my word too 😘) read the first one. Otherwise Romancing the Duke when we start that - or else you will end up disappointed in Tessa Dare.
