I'm reading 'The Jewel' which is set up in the medieval times and is described beautifully although the rich people or the 'royalty' are not so beautiful at heart, perhaps that's the bad thing about medieval times; no matter how beautiful and lively the place is there is always discrimination. Similarly, although there is not a lot of discrimination in the present it doesn't carry that essence of beauty within itself anymore.
The story is in the point of view a girl named Violet who is being auctioned along with others of her 'kind'. The posses an amazing power for which they are tested once they hit puberty and are forbidden to fall in love or basically have a life they chose.
Can't believe it's not a bestseller.
Worth a try.

After reading Station Eleven, I needed to check out her other works. So I'll probably be reading her previous books for the next couple of weeks.

Warbreaker is fantastic!
Granted, I may be (read: I am!), a bit of a Sanderson fanboy. Now I want to go re-read it.
