PI's, you know the drill. Let's find something really autumn-y, Halloweenish, orange, spooky, bump in the night good! Release the hounds!! Go!

Always like Leslie Meiers' holiday reads as she seemed to capture the spirit but I'm afraid we've read all her holiday books. However, I think we can find something good!!

I'd be willing to revisit an earlier Meiers' fall themed mystery as it's been awhile.

Scared Stiff, Mattie Winston Scared Stiff (Mattie Winston Mysteries, #2) by Annelise Ryan #2 in series so it should be easy to follow or to catch up on.

Would be up to revisiting this one as it has much spirit going on. #3 in this series. Again, fairly easy to catch up on. Trick or Treat Murder Trick or Treat Murder (A Lucy Stone Mystery, #3) by Leslie Meier

PugMom (nicoleg76) | 2014 comments I could go for a Halloween-y book!
I'm going to read this one anyway so I thought I'd throw it out. I really liked the book in this series that we read for Thanksgiving last year Trick or Treachery (Murder, She Wrote, #14) by Jessica Fletcher
We're reading this one in my Facebook cozy group if anyone wants to join in! The Diva Haunts the House (A Domestic Diva Mystery, #5) by Krista Davis

Nicole, MSW does a good mystery IMHO. Well written, good plots etc. And there was another one where Jessica's staying at a hotel or the like and gets snowed in and of course, there's an incident. Darn if I can recall the title.

Thanks for the invite. I've read titles you've noted and liked both but I'm partial to Fletcher and would read MSW one again. However, that would make it third time. But it was full of autumn spirit and was good!

Have you discovered Leslie Meier's books? Her earlier stuff was really good. Last five or so were so-so. She started getting political and it spoiled the experience; her earlier stuff was her best.

message 5: by PugMom (new)

PugMom (nicoleg76) | 2014 comments I like the Meier books. I try to ignore the political type stuff. I wouldn't be opposed to reading the Halloween one.

I just read #1 in the series and had won the #2 book from Joyce before she passed away. I'd love to read it.

Mr. Goodwitch has a number of good reviews, though the premise sounds a little odd to me. I would be fine with the Leslie Meier one as well--we've read at least one of hers here in the group, in the past.

PugMom (nicoleg76) | 2014 comments I'll just read all of them LOL I am a sucker for holiday books!

The Goodwitch book is 2nd in a quirky series so you might have to read the 1st one to follow what's going on. There's a lot going on in the 1st book.

PI's, as we seem to have a decent sized Oct. group, what say we bring back main and side read? Sometimes one title just doesn't make for enough traffic, participation. And if our title doesn't make cut, there's a chance the side read could pick it up.

Okay, in attempts to whittle mine down, I'll jump in with my picks. Unless some really good title surfaces, I'll go with this:

So far I'm leaning towards Scared Stiff, Trick or Treachery or Trick or Treat Murder in no special order. One of these as main read and Goodwitch for side.

I also luuuv holiday books, esp. fall and winter themes. New Years, Valentine included. Not a fan of summer mysteries. They just don't seem to have that "...dark and stormy night" feel to them.

PugMom (nicoleg76) | 2014 comments There's a new one coming out in the beginning of October called Death Overdue. It has a very festive cover and is about a haunted library!

Mmm, sounds intriguing. I did see a library series out but didn't look into it. Sounds like it could be a good one. Thanks, Nicole.

PugMom (nicoleg76) | 2014 comments It comes out October 10th so that might be a little late to start a book for October :( Could be something to look into next year though (always fun to look ahead lol).

PugMom (nicoleg76) | 2014 comments OH and there's a new Christmas cozy coming out soon so I'll try to remember to mention that one when we look for December books! I will say it again....So many books, so little time!!!!

Or side read or trail it into Nov. One way or another we'll get it done. ;-)

Poll vote ends tomorrow by mid day should be enough time. So far five (5) for Leslie Meier's Trick or Treat Murder as main two (2) for Scared Stiff as side read.

After 1st round, should we vote another or just take most votes as main read, second popular as side read. One doesn't have to participate in both reads. Pick both or which one you prefer to participate in.

I figured that's what you meant, PI Pghfan but wanted to be sure.

Late Addition: There are two titles that are not to release 'til mid-Oct. or there about but I added them to list should someone want them as side reads. Sorry for any confusion that may have caused.

Voting time up early to late eve.

message 45: by Tina (new)

Tina (tinacz) | 6103 comments Mod
Votes in and counted: five (5) for Trick Or Treat Murder and two (2) for Scared Stiff as side read.

Do you PI's want to vote a round for side reads from titles minus Trick Or Treat or should we count the two votes for Scared Stiff to count as side read selection?

So many books so little time: I was torn 'tween Scared Stiff and the two new releases set for Oct.

message 46: by Nicole (new)

Nicole (nicolevickers) | 1814 comments Either works fine for me!

Nicole wrote: "Either works fine for me!"

Same here, Nicole. So, I'll give PI's 'til 9 p.m. this eve to choose selection process. Should there be no further feedback, we'll just figure Scared Stiff as side read. Hate to rush it but it is already the 27th and we all need to get our books. Fell behind with hurricanes. :-/

message 48: by PugMom (new)

PugMom (nicoleg76) | 2014 comments We can do another poll for a side read! I voted for Scared Stiff as a side read because it was the only option that mentioned a side read.

message 49: by Mark Pghfan (new)

Mark Pghfan | 1939 comments Mod
I will be happily in for Trick or Treat, but will sit out the side read this month. October is always busy for me and I think it will take all my efforts to keep on rack for the main read.

Tina (tinacz) | 6103 comments Mod
Okay, Nicole and Pghfan.

So we can do a second vote for side read. And that won't prevent us from starting T or T. We can reuse list of books minus T or T as it's been picked. Just go in and post another pick for side read. I'm not on my more trusty computer and am limited here but will clear things up tomorrow! Meantime, we can go in and vote. I may change mine also, Nicole.
