Arminius I do not hate her but I would not vote for her. She is the closest thing to a socialist that America has had since FDR. What FDR did needs to go no further. America needs someone like Ronald Reagan again.

message 2: by Howard (last edited Mar 03, 2008 02:53PM) (new)

Howard (howardmittelmark) I've heard that she's really after the pool toys.

shellyindallas i hate hillary haters. what'd she ever do to you?
you don't like her politics? well, that's a different story. you don't like her even though you've never met her? get a life.

message 4: by Amanda (last edited Mar 03, 2008 05:31PM) (new)

Amanda (randymandy) WHAT?????? Don't hate Hillary. Hillary is #1. I agree with Shelly about hating Hillary haters. I hate you!!!!!!!!! Stupid Hillary haters.

Arminius, I take back what I said on the other thread about you being good looking. As if that's even your real picture...

message 5: by Arminius (new)

Arminius I will give you three reasons why I do not like her policies:

1. She does not support tax cuts to reverse a recession. The fact is, that is the best way.

2. She states that the economy is not working for the middle class. The fact is that America has the largest middle class in the world and remains the world's richest nation.

3. She vote against drilling in ANWR while oil prices are draining American wallets.

OK, Can anyone give me three reasons to support her? (Not that you would care) I will not hate you if you can.

shellyindallas 1. (and i'm pretty sure these apply to both her and obama): she's against giving tax cuts to corporations who ship their jobs overseas

2. as far as I know, she's not for "100 more years of war" (sounds expensive)

3. she's pledged not to make W's tax-cuts
(http://www.nytimes.com/2006/04/05/bus...) for the super wealthy (which have been proven to widen the already sizable gap between the rich and the poor) permanent

shellyindallas PS- are you still rich when you're
$9,363,292,539,387.64 in debt?

message 8: by [deleted user] (new)

The only thing I have to say is, 'I'm not saying anything...'

message 9: by Amanda (new)

Amanda (randymandy) I like Hillary because I don't have to wonder what she's about. Inasmuch as a politician can possibly be straightforward, Hillary does so.

My 3 reasons:
1. Pro choice
2. Pro education
3. Pro health care

Not that these make her any different than Obama, as Shelly said, but they sure as hell make her different than anyone on the red side.

message 10: by [deleted user] (new)

I think that her ideas for healthcare are admirable. If one could model it after the British system, but fix the problem with wait times for treatment, it would be a great system! Having said that, I don't find anything else about her near as appealing as Obama, and I don't feel that I would trust her any more than McCain. I would say that I am pro choice and pro education as well, but I'd go with Obama on that. I'm glad you're diggin her Shelly, I've tried, and I'd like to. I'd like to feel like I had some options that didn't make me feel sick to my stomach when I thought about them. I'm convinced that it's all a bit of educated gambling, you never know what you're going to get until they get in there. It's like getting married to someone you've never lived with, or worse, never slept with. You think you know them, you think you have a pretty good idea of what it's going to be like and WHAM! You get the REAL them... I lived in Texas while Bush was Governor, and I'll be honest with you, I thought he was going to be a pretty good pres. Was I ever wrong! If I'd have had the slightest idea he was going to turn out the way he did, I would have voted for Gore in a minute! But, we can't go back; there are no do-overs.

message 11: by Arminius (new)

Arminius She will model it after the British or Canadian single payer system. I do not think America would be happy with that. Read the NY Times article:

http://www.nytimes.com/2008/02/21/wor...

We need to make our system cheaper. It is regarded as the best in the world. But it would be a herculean task to reduce the cost of health insurance.

America will rue the day it abandons capitalism for socialism.

message 12: by Amanda (new)

Amanda (randymandy) America will never be happy with anything. We are self-centered assholes.

message 13: by [deleted user] (new)

They're saying she might be back in the game after last night...Maurice, you know about this shit better than most of us, and you are a Hills man, what are her chances at this point...honestly?

message 14: by Amanda (new)

Amanda (randymandy) Oooops, sorry, KD. You said you were a dick, not an asshole. My mistake...

Anyway, I don't think Hillary can beat Big Mac in November, regardless of how much I like her. Being a small-business owner, I have felt the effects, time and again, of just how sexist people are. Even my female realtor calls my business partner and I "the girls." It pisses me off, but even if it's subconscious, I dont' think the US wants a woman as our President.

So, yeah, Obama probably does have it sewn-up.

Maurice???

message 15: by Amanda (new)

Amanda (randymandy) YES! I've been thinking about this, too! Do you think it could go both ways? I figured Clinton would ask Obama to be her vp, but he would never ask her...

message 16: by [deleted user] (new)

Maurice, do you really think so? I thought so, but was told that there has been too much "bad blood" between them now...

shellyindallas my sister's a repub (along w/ most of my family and all her friends) and she seems to feel McCain couldn't win against Obama or Hillary. (?) Funny how right-wingers think he's too liberal cos he's against torture.
I was gonna vote for Ron Paul b/c I didn't prefer Hillary or Obama over each other and would vote for either of them over McCain. But then Tina Fey and SNL swayed me over to the Clinton side.
This whole delgate/super-delegate thing is such a mess. apparently although Hillary won Texas she didn't win in Dallas, Austin, or Houston where all the delegates are...what a clusterfuck.
And i fucking can't fucking believe Nader is running again. What's with this guy? What is his appeal?

message 18: by Amanda (new)

Amanda (randymandy) I fucking can't believe that there are thousands of fucking people who will vote for him.

shellyindallas i think ron paul is different, and he ran as a republican this year.

anyway, you are right people do say they want change and then tow the party line. how come you get this, i get this, yet nader doesn't get this?

message 20: by Xio (new)

Xio (xioj) I hate them all but I'm the one who voted for that fascist David Duke in the Republican primary years ago.

Why? Why the heck not. He wasn't going to win and I thought perhaps it might start people thinking that if someone like DD could get so many votes perhaps things are worse than they have been not-thinking.

I will vote for Hillary in our noone cares PA primary. And I really really hate Obama and if it comes to it I will vote for McCain since I like to be called ma'am and oh wait wrong group or whatever, because he is someone who knows what pain means and I think that is valuable knowledge.

I want Bill back getting blow jobs in the Oval Office.
That's what I'm voting for.

message 21: by Xio (new)

Xio (xioj) Me too, amusing that is. The last resort of the decadent.

message 22: by Xio (new)

Xio (xioj) laughing. This brought to mind the Diamanda Galas song from her AIDS album---- "Let's not chat about despair"

Right? I hate these armchair chats about the condition of the world. So cozily civilized. So, sure, I'm crazy.

Like a fox...
No, just making stupid joke.

message 23: by Xio (last edited Mar 05, 2008 11:48AM) (new)

Xio (xioj) Donald, take 'old man jowly POW' back. Or go read "The Body In Pain: The Making and Unmaking of the World" and then dis him. I have serious respect for those men and women who have managed to come through that kind of serious and profound injury to their souls and minds.

(I am not angry about it, just think someone ought to make this clear)

And Maurice, I don't feel like searching for Miz Shannon so pls explain?

*I* got your back, and of course all the rest of you if it comes to that.

(Xio is feeling feisty today, she is blaming KD's metal radio station)

message 24: by Xio (new)

Xio (xioj) O bloody hell, another of the junky crew. That's Ma'am to you!

Gojira? Is making me sit on my chair in odd squat ready to pounce Hobbsean style. That's the tiger or the man. Speaking of Leviathan.....

message 25: by Melissa (new)

Melissa I agree with the King Dinosaur. I saw Ralph Nader give an interview the other day--never heard of the guy before in my life, and his small speech was the most down to earth and practical message I have ever heard from any candidate. Someone tried poking around in some sht to start his sparks and he flat out said, something along the lines of "why waste our time campaigning bringing each other down? There are more important issues that need to be discussed." which I give a thumbs up to. Everyone has skeletons in their closet, and who really cares? It really pisses me off when candidates go on and on and on and on about how the other guy would do the job wrong, when they could be spending their time prepping for doing the job right themselves. Go Nader! oh yeah I hate hillary too

message 26: by [deleted user] (new)

no rain...

message 27: by [deleted user] (new)

Bruce looks ridiculously skinny in that little unitard! His son however was HOT!

Was that on topic dear?

message 28: by [deleted user] (new)

Oh, and BAD hair, very, very, bad hair...

message 29: by Amanda (new)

Amanda (randymandy) I noticed the skinniness, too. freakish.

As to the "republicrat" comment:

If I had my druthers, I'd vote for that crazy ufo-spotting Kucinich. His sense of human rights are much more in line with my own. HOWEVER, if we change too much too quickly our society will fucking freak and there WILL be riots. There are things I like about mccain--he seems to be able to get along with the blue team relatively well--but he's still been in bed with GW from the beginning. And I say "EW, EW, EW" I want none of it. Hillary Clinton is extremely liberal in comparison.

message 30: by [deleted user] (new)

Okay Maurice, I'm tired of being the restrainer, and I don't know this Vicki Jean person, so go on honey...let her rip!

message 31: by Amanda (new)

Amanda (randymandy) Dear god, I hope so. I can't even get enough energy up to comment on the Feminists thread.

message 32: by [deleted user] (new)

I give up! Maurice...you are back to being my arch nemesis!
