Elizabeth Johnson | 86 comments He was meant to be my round 1, I have reviewed everyone else on my list. So what do I do now?

message 52: by Scott (new)

Scott Spotson (scottspotson) Good question, Elizabeth. He was supposed to submit a review by October 11, I followed up with him privately twice since then, and no response.

I would recommend that whoever had Jonathan's book not read it next and skip to the next book. This entire group is not due to finish until December 13, which is still less than two months away, so plenty of time.

If new rounds form, Elizabeth, you are free to join it, explaining the circumstances that you have finished three of four rounds, with the fourth book in doubt.

Things could change quickly, so hold on there and let's give this more time, but no one needs to read Jonathan's book now until we hear more. As I said, plenty of time still. For those of you who still have more books to review, skip to the next book if Jonathan's book is your next review due.

Scott Spotson (scottspotson) Thanks Jacqui. I'm so thrilled you field-tested it on a member of my target audience... that's the best review possible.

Okay, now past the deadline of the first review round, we have nine of ten. As mentioned, we will assume temporarily the fact that Jonathan is not actively with our group, so we will read all books except his. If you've already left a review up for Jonathan, leave it up for now.

It's much too early to conclude, but there is a one-on-one review group for "orphaned" books that missed a review, and only after the fourth and final round is over. So it's a consolation prize.

Scott Spotson (scottspotson) Next round, second review round, is November 1.

message 59: by Scott (new)

Scott Spotson (scottspotson) Three more days (well four actually, but close enough) to the next round of reviews, due Nov. 1.

Can you clarify what happens now, Scott?
Do I
a, Shrug & say I've reviewed the 3 books I was sent.
b, Randomly select an unreviewed book from this group or the general list of unreviewed books
c, Will you allocate an unreviewed book from the group or the general list?

Scott Spotson (scottspotson) Hi Diana,

You only had to do those specific four, and no others. If the author wasn't able to get to you one of those four books (his or hers, that is) then you're relieved of your obligation.

I'll wait until the deadline of the third round (Nov. 22) to see if Jonathan returns. It's then not inconceivable for him to finish all four books in three weeks until the fourth and final round deadline. Similarly, for those reviewing him, it would be their last book anyway, so three weeks is plenty to review his book and have everyone catch up.

If Nov. 22 comes and passes, then I'll declare his participation in this round null and void, and then all four people who were supposed to have their books reviewed by him will have the opportunity (admittedly not as good as the opportunity in this group) to have their books reviewed in the one-on-one group.

https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...

So, in other words, yup you're done and you may join other review rounds opening. Just that if you join another review round and then Jonathan returns within three weeks, then you just finish up his book, that's all.

Thanks Diana!

Scott Spotson (scottspotson) Thanks AJ for the reviews.

Actually, I submitted my book as a trilogy. So you've read one of the three stories. To ensure that your round involving my book is complete, you'll need to read the other two stories, My Wizard Buddy, and Target Earth.

You can check in with me if you still need copies of the story, I can supply them to you.

Don't fret--each story is only 20,000 words, and if you read all three, it's still only 60,000 words. You have only 40,000 more words to go.

Since you've left a separate review for Wizard Planet on its own listing, please leave two more reviews separately on the other two. Thanks!

Scott Spotson (scottspotson) So far, on second round deadline today, assuming Jonathan's out,

- 4 reviewers are finished completely
- 3 reviewers missed the deadline
- 2 reviewers have done three rounds already

Melinda, Florian, and Jacqui, be sure to get your second round reviews in! Thanks!

Melinda Brasher | 81 comments I actually got mixed up, so I'll have my round 3 review up tonight or tomorrow at the latest, then my round 2 review probably next week. Sorry about the mix-up.

message 66: by Scott (new)

Scott Spotson (scottspotson) Not a problem to change the order of your reviews, so as long as you post something by the deadlines within your four books assigned.

Thanks all!

Florian Armas (goodreadscomflorianarmas) | 436 comments Do you know of other reviewers having issues with their review being published on Amazon even when they bought the book?

message 74: by Scott (new)

Scott Spotson (scottspotson) Yes, for years I've heard of Amazon crackdowns on reciprocal reviews, so maybe they're removing reviews of authors who have, in their view, violated that rule. You could email them to ask.

If you've tried to post reviews on Amazon, but Amazon removes them, then you've complied with the rules of this group... we can't force Amazon to leave a certain review alone.

I don't have any reciprocal reviews.
It never happened until now to have one of my reviews deleted. Now it is back on Amazon.

https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...

https://www.amazon.com/review/R29FOYO...

https://www.amazon.co.uk/review/R1GKT...

I purposely gave different star ratings on Goodreads and Amazon. Although the star ratings are actually the same in terms of the way both major websites describe them, I do post the same number of stars for all reviews, unless I'm a little split, as I was here.

I'm all done my reviews! However, I'll stay on as moderator until this round is finished, of course!

message 79: by Scott (new)

Scott Spotson (scottspotson) At this point, so close to the Third Round review deadline, I'm going to declare Jonathan Brown missing in action, as it's too little time for him to read all four books by the final deadline and we've been given sufficient justification for determining unreliability for the rest of the time left. I'll pass on his name to our main moderator for blocking from future review groups on this family of review groups. I'll send instructions on how to submit your book to the one-on-one review discussion group for orphaned books.

Here is the website:

Scott Spotson (scottspotson) Okay, the Nov. 22 deadline for Round Three has come and passed. The next and final deadline is December 13.

Actually, all of us have finished our reviews except for two authors. (We had removed Jonathan from this round).

A.J., please complete the entire book My Wizard Buddy Trilogy in order to clear this group, so you can join another review round! You did post a review, but it was only one of three short stories in the compilation.

Florian, you're due for two more reviews. The third one missed the deadline, hope everything is good! You still have time, until December 13.

Pretty good, everyone!

message 83: by Scott (new)

Scott Spotson (scottspotson) Florian, reminder to do those last two reviews within five days, by Dec. 13. A.J., don't forget to complete the trilogy... the whole thing's only 60,000 words and you have 40,000 words left to read!

Scott Spotson (scottspotson) Thanks everyone and that's a wrap. Aside from the missing one reviewer, everyone did his or her turn. I'll ask for this group to be closed soon.
