Me, too. I liked the setup, and glad to get to more action.
I think I'm one chapter behind you so far.

I am liking it. I think there is lots of potential. I like all the same characters you do, too. I agree on Glinn, I think he's going to be a good guy although he is enigmatic so far. I'm betting that Amira turns out to be a good guy, too. I'm curious how the action is going to start!

Me too! I'm wondering if the real action starts when they get the meteorite on the boat and no one pulls the kill switch or before that on the island. Can't wait to find out!

I think we'll find out shortly on the action. 😊
I forgot to say that I agree about seeing some similarities in the setup of the characters here to Thunderhead. I misread Sloane's character at first in that one, so I may be doing the same with Amira here, too.

message 54: by Matthew (new)

Matthew (funkygman007) | 1005 comments I didn't think of that similarity between characters. Most likely because I read Ice Limit so long after Thunderhead. Glad I have this conversation to enhance my experience!

Glad we can contribute something back after all your helpful insights, Matthew!

Btw, I forgot to revel in my, what I expect to be short-lived, lead in the NFL pick-em game. Way to go Chiefs!

message 56: by Matthew (new)

Matthew (funkygman007) | 1005 comments Yes! Go Chiefs! That must have been quite exciting for you!

message 57: by Terry (new)

Terry | 5364 comments It was a blast, well, until Eric Berry went down at least. Hopefully, this win propels them through. Tom Brady, and definitely the Patriots Def, looked vulnerable in the second half of that game.

I think it's the similarity that both Amira & Sloane are both intelligent, sarcastic women but a bit self involved with themselves. Plus they seem narcissistic with needing male attention.
Of course, I just started this book so Amira might change by the end and I could be completely off on her character.

Nice job on the Chiefs!! I was so happy when NE lost! I'm sorry that you lost Berry though to the achilles tear. I really like that guy. :(

Just got to chapter Isla Desolacion, 3:05pm. It's about 42% into book. I'm not sure if I will be able to read anymore today.

I'm at that same point. The quote you used in your update was hilarious! I agree that Amira's character is growing on me. (view spoiler)

Fun day of football (well, except the Seahawks result I guess).

Ginger | 3903 comments You're right Terry. (view spoiler) hahaha

Ugh, the Hawks killed me yesterday. I swear I was yelling at the TV for most of the game. We still have the same issues as always. No freaking OLine. It's so frustrating and I'm tired of our GM and coach never putting any money into that. Wilson is going to get hurt so bad one day that he'll be out for the rest of the season.
Our defense looks great though!

Yeah, I thought the Hawks missed their opportunities in that game, especially in the first half when GB didn't look that good (although their D wasn't bad either). You're right that they do look the same! Wilson needs something to take so much pressure off of him.

I'm about 50 pages behind you, so not bad. I completely understand about wanting to get it finished. I will try to do that also, but weekends haven't been reading-friendly to me. Hopefully I can make it also. If not, I may start Thinner a few days late. Otherwise, we can wait as long as you need to start on the next Pendergast book. I have a couple of Ray Bradbury BRs starting next week most likely also. Lots and Lots to read!

Oh cool! We're around the same point in the story. I feel like I'm reading a movie at this point and mindlessly eating popcorn because I'm transfixed on what's about to happen with this tanker/meteorite/Chilean commander. It just got so good!

Awesome on reading some Bradbury books. He's awesome!! Which ones?

I definitely want to keep with our Pendergast BRs. I just need to finally get through The Hero of Ages. This has been on the calendar for awhile now with my friend Rod.
Maybe we can start Brimstone at the beginning of October? If that works. I can't wait to get back to our beloved FBI Albino!!

Yep, lots and lots and lots of books. hahaha

I agree about the action in this book. Its so well paced and intriguing, can't wait to find out what happens.

Lets see, the Bradbury books will be From the Dust Returned , The October Country and maybe Something Wicked This Way Comes. Not sure on the order. The only Bradbury I've read before was The Martian Chronicles, but that was like 30 years ago. I need to reread that also. I'm excited for them.

Beginning of October is good for me on Brimstone. I'm enjoying this series even more than I expected!

Sounds fun!! I've been meaning to read SWTWC and October Country for awhile now. Enjoy!

Yay, can't wait to finish this book with you and then move on to Brimstone. :D I'm enjoying this series so much more then I thought. I agree with you.
I get so excited when I start a new Preston/Child book. I had no idea that I would love all of their books so much. They are just great writers with amazing plots, story telling and the suspense is AMAZING. I will definitely finish the Pendergast series in the next year or two.
Including Brimstone, we have 13 more to go. hahaha

I'll add that one as well Matthew!

I don't think you've spoiled anything with that comment. I'm looking forward to seeing how the books tie together though.
I'm glad I read The Ice Limit regardless of Brimstone. I haven't read a technical thriller in a while and it's been fantastic!

This almost made me say something . . . but I have to wait until you are done! I may also wait until after your read the next trilogy . . . they tie this all in together so great!

I have a coworker who has read all the Pendergast and is just now reading The Ice Limit (I recommended Pendergast to him, and he flew through the whole series in about two months!). Even though he has read the whole Pendergast series, he is asking me things about The Ice Limit that have him confused. Such a great confusion! :)

You wont be confused because you are reading it first! :)

And I agree about finishing the series, Ginger. I think next year we'll get there, sooner than later, too the way we're going.

I do have Dandelion Wine on my tbr pile also. Sounds like I need to move it up the list!
