Who do you think Alyssa will end up with?

*MAJOR SPOILERS FOR UNHINGED INSIDE*
The prophesy.
First, I don't think A.G. Howard would even bring up the prophesy if it wasn't going to happen at all. Because what would be the point? If she didn't want to give her readers that hope, she could have avoided that part altogether and written about something else. She said as much too in her interview: "Readers are smart and hate being emotionally manipulated. The only way to keep that from happening is to let the ending fall into line organically and naturally."
And just think about the implications behind the vision. Alyssa's and Morpheus's baby is supposed to bring new beginnings to Wonderland and make stealing human children no longer necessary to provide the realm with dreams. This is big. We learned the story about Alyssa’s dad’s past in Wonderland, that he was “the boy with the dreams” and how he was saved, thus reiterating how awful the whole idea was.
«My stomach drops. “You steal human children? You kidnap them?”
Sister Two’s eyes narrow. “Is that disdain I smell on yer breath, child? Yer mother was so like ye, disrespected the way things had to be. Rules are there for a reason. For the survival of our world, some have to suffer in yers. »
And now imagine how things are going to change and all this stealing would become obsolete. Isn't it the point? That no one no longer would have to suffer in the human world?
If Alyssa spent another 60 years with Jeb first, the salvation of human children and the good changes would be put off for too long. Yes, it would make for another 60-70 years of stealing. So it makes sense that the magic kid from the vision would have to hurry up :)
Then remember how Alyssa said that she wouldn't be able to fully commit herself to Jeb, knowing she would be with Morpheus one day? This.
And I also remember how A.G. Howard said in one of the threads that she was not going to make it easy for Alyssa, possibly implying that Alyssa would have to choose between the guys, not have them both.
And the kiss from Splintered. Did you notice how the scene that Alyssa saw the first time she kissed Morpheus was the same scene as in the vision. She just didn't see the whole picture, only a glimpse of it. Makes me think like they were destined all along. And Morpheus mentioned something along those lines in Unhinged too.
«Our fates are entwined. That is the one abiding truth from our time together.»
Abiding truth. From their time together as children. So I believe that future was kind of sealed when they were still playmates.
Besides, will Alyssa be able to become human again after all the madness that is going to be Ensnared? A.G. said Alyssa was going to become a full-fledged queen in that one to get things done. Somehow it would be just pathetic to make her become human again after all her queenly glory. Who would settle for a life in a cottage when they can have Wonderland? And I don't think Morpheus would even let her go. We all know how he is. And I'm sure she wouldn't want to leave him anyway if she got any more taste of him. After that one day and especially night ...
And this quote from Splintered: "I stop at the illustrations of the Queen and King of Hearts, where she wrote: Queen and King Red—here’s where it started. And here it will end …"
Could be some random stuff, but also could be foreshadowing for how the story is really going to end. Just think:
Red will be defeated, and she is already dead anyway. Grenadine is an amnesiac not fit to rule. Alison will, of course, stay with Thomas. So here we have it - Queen Alyssa :)
As for the King... again, we have that vision of the future.

And I thought I was getting short of reasons why Alyssa should be with Morpheus...just go on Natalia, you're awesome!

Oh Natalia, I love you so much....

better than mothcakes...ummm Morpheus?

YES *hands Natalia Morpheus*

Well, she did say that Jeb is like her husband, but she also said that, while she doesn't have the traits to keep up with Morpheus, Alyssa does.

I, personally think Morpheus will end with Alyssa.

Alright, I have to object with you about the part of number two where you said "Because otherwise, she wouldn't have any problems with spending the night with him, right?", because for many, including myself, it's not that simple. I respected Alyssa greatly wanting to wait longer until she took their relationship to such a deep level. It shows she takes it seriously and isn't rushing in to anything. Also, Ayssa is very guarded. I doubt she'd be any less hesitant about spending the night with Morpheus.
I sort of dressed a little like Morpheus today. Eyeliner, hat (<3 hats), half zipped-up jacket, cloak (which counts as normal attire for me), and I'm hoping to have black painted nails with silver designs (might include a moth) by the end of the day. Then again, this is what I've decided to start wearing as everyday attire. lol

Sounds great. I was actually inspired by Alyssa for my current gothic/victorian/steampunk fashion style. I mean, I liked those things before, but I wear them all the time now. Also, I had never settled on a style before, often dressing in what I called "looks", and it was after I finished Unhinged that I actually started to iron out what was actually my style.
Cool! I've been wearing a cloak for years. The rest of the style's been stuff I'd where since before Splintered. I've always been weird, strange and such and proud of it. The make-up's the new bit.

Well, you just said it. Alyssa wants to wait more...and they have spent a whole year together. I read your comment about "not having sex until marriage", so I know what you mean. As you know some couples do it on the first day, others after couple of months (I mean 3 or 4)... BUT A WHOLE YEAR! See Jeb is getting impatient and Alyssa still doesn`t want him like that. There must be something more to it!
And about spending the night with Morpheus...we shall see! They have a deal! *smiles wickedly*

Eyeliner is the one thing I don`t leave the house without. And of course bloddy red lipstick. I also happen to be very fond of black leather thight jeans and a leather jacket. But when it gets warm, I replace the jeans with a skirt. I think I`ve turned out gothic! By the way, Elvina, love your idea of nail polish!
Cool! I wish the type of jeans I like came in black. Leather jackets are cool! I'd like to own one. Thanks!
I have brown eyes and hair too ;)
So my prediction from the end of Splintered (and hope) is that she ends up with Morph and Jeb ends up with the Ivory Queen. Or vice versa. BUT I HOPE ITS THE FORMER

Jeb has things to do in the human realm. He has a mother and a sister to take care of. He NEEDS to go back. If he stays in Wonderland forever, he will always be in the way, trying to win Alyssa back. No, Jeb, GO HOME!

I'm waiting 'til marriage, myself. I don't think everyone has to, but I personally feel Alyssa should at least figure out who she likes for certain before sleeping with either of them.
Just my opinion *shrugs*

Ivory is a smart girl. She`ll think of something. She managed to be Morpheus`s girlfriend, so I bet she`s awesome in bed too!

Let us all feast on mothcakes and moonbeam cookies and drink Tumtum juice and go mad and come up with more reasons for Alyssa and Morpheus to end up together :)
HEH HIIIIIIIIIIII. I AM BACK FOR THE TIME BEING (But truth be told I've been stalking this convo for a while)

O u O
We want to hear more of your input :D
Be sure to comment LOL

Ugh, I wish I had a leather jacket, but I lost mine, and I'm more likely to spend my money on other things, and even when I was younger, even since losing the jacket, my mom didn't want to buy me a new one, because we live it Florida, where it doesn't get cold enough to need it. I tell her I want it for fashion and not protection from cold, but does she listen? No.

Thank you!

Alison dies nobly and Alyssa's dad marries Jeb's mom (after some time, of course). Jeb becomes Alyssa's stepbrother (fitting, since he's always doing that "Big brother" thing, and Jen becomes Alyssa's new sister! Alyssa, of course, ends up with Morpheus;)

Oh, HOW ABOUT YES!

Shoving aside my ridiculous need for Alyssa to end up with Morpheus, where a lot of personal logic is involved...including having an entire world to discover and recreate yourself anew, to escape, completely, officially...
I still think Alyssa will end up with Morpheus. This weird thing I don't think anyone has mentioned yet (I haven't read back, but I haven't seen it, either) is that (spoiler) Alyssa saw her life with Morpheus, saw her *child* with Morpheus. (spoiler) And that just seems like a completely intimate thing. Just...yeah

Sydney, I agree. I actually wrote a pretty long post about all those same reasons too. Why even mention that, if it is not going to happen? To make Morpheus suffer? To make his fans and readers suffer? This would be just so CRUEL. People will be pissed if the vision won't happen. It needs to come true, for the sake of our collective sanity if nothing else ;)
Alyssa and Morpheus are a perfect match. They were made for each other.
I usually don't care about fictional couples having children, but this one child I desperately need to be born. Not to mention that the boy is going to bring good changes to Wonderland.

Yes! Plus when she had to rescue Jeb she was TRYING to be mad at Morpheus, but she said something like: I just can`t put the image of our child out of my head!
I'd try drawing it, but I can't draw kids to save my life. Also, note the plural in the previous sentence.

And what's mostly keeping her from endind up with Morpheus is not wanting to accept that she really is a part of that world she seems so intent on avoiding.
SO I really think that they'll end up together, because not only do they bring out the best in each other, but they also comliment each other in a perfect way.
And Alyssa's and Morpheus's child needs to be born so no more children are kidnapped from the human world.
So there.

I know right? Especially since it was the author who put this idea into our heads to begin with. She didn't have to, but she did. Now everyone is expecting her to deliver ;)

I also love that she doesn't take any of Morpheus' crap. They can banter back and forth; she's not helpless to any of his charms. I mean, she referred to him as "son of a bug". Just. I just. Muah. ;)

Huh. Well, I don't like the idea of Alison dying, but, other than that, I'm ok with this scenario.

Let's see some bloodshed and madness!

I guessing you're a part of many fandoms where character deaths are more common then?

Um... General anime, Harry Potter, and Percy Jackson.
...Yup.
Dead parents! Dead parents everywhere! (Well, not in Percy Jackson so much, but... sort of XD)

I'm with you on the Harry Potter and anime. I am also a part of the Superwholock trinity of pain. Although, I still wouldn't wish death on someone unless they were a truly deplorable human being, and each character death always hits me hard every time it happens.

But that's why I love them! I like emotional books, especially the end of Splintered with THE FEELZ.
The more action and death and pain, the more the love shines through... If that made sense.

*nods* It does. The stuff I tend to like actually is pretty emotional, and it is true that when something has so much darkness, death, and pain, any light, any hope at all shines like beacon. That's why, when I was watching a YouTube gamer's playthrough of Corpse Party, when he reached the good ending, I laughed in relief and smiled with happiness, even though it still had many ominous points. In fact, most of the things I read/play/watch give me major feels and a lot of them make me cry. That doesn't mean I like crying. Contradictory, I know. Sometimes I don't even understand myself.

Kind of reminds me of IB- the game is so dark and psychologically creepy and almost impossible to solve. The first time I played it, I got an ending in which my favorite character died, and because of all the horrors you have to play through, it felt like a real loss of a friend.
And when I replayed to get an ending in which he survived and remembered me, I felt somewhat elated :)
It's the darkness in life that shows us the light within our companions.

True. I love Ib, btw. You're talking about *spoilers* Gary *spoilers* right? I cried when I saw an ending where he died too.
@ Nessy: Good points. I freaked out too about the husband reference at first, but then I thought: any author is not necessarily going to project their private life on their books and characters. Might be exactly the opposite, because fantasy is supposed to provide some escape, right? Where is the fun in choosing more of the same thing in a book, when you can relive a completely different experience, something one can't have in real life?
What I want to say is: we don't know anything for sure. There is still hope.
