Barb | 1868 comments I've done that too -- but the bad part is that I almost never remember whodunit, so it's like a first-time read after all :)

Even worse is when you do remember after you’re about halfway through, you know who did it, and now you’ve just wasted all that time. Gack!

message 203: by Barb (new)

Barb | 1868 comments LOL Or when you get to the END of the book and think "Oh yeah! I remember now!" :D

message 204: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer (jhaltenburger) I've finished a couple of my pending reads for this challenge: Midnight Train to Paris (A Paris Time Travel Romance) by Juliette Sobanet The Glass Ocean by Beatriz Williams so i'll take HE and read Hex the Halls by Mindy Klasky .

New pairs: SH and NO

message 205: by Barb (new)

Barb | 1868 comments I haven't forgotten this challenge, I just haven't finished my book yet! I hope to do that this weekend... maybe?

message 206: by Connie N. (last edited Jan 16, 2019 07:22AM) (new)

Connie N. | 3773 comments I haven't forgotten either. I have several books still to read for this challenge, so I feel like I should catch up a little before I choose any more.

message 207: by Barb (new)

Barb | 1868 comments I did finish my book, but I can't remember the letter combination it was for, maybe MI? Or was it TE?

Ming Tea Murder (Tea Shop #16), by Laura Childs, finished 1/9 ★★★.5
Ming Tea Murder (A Tea Shop Mystery, #16) by Laura Childs

I don't have anything that fits SH or NO, but I'll keep an eye on the thread.

message 208: by Connie N. (new)

Connie N. | 3773 comments I had to look it up, Barb! It was TE (in Post #190). Congrats on finishing another one.

message 209: by Barb (new)

Barb | 1868 comments Thanks for looking it up, Connie :) Guess I could have done that, but it never occurred to me. Yesterday was just one of those days...

Jennifer (jhaltenburger) :-)

message 215: by Agnieszka (new)

Agnieszka (agnieszka7) | 616 comments Here's another challenge I neglected awfully but (finally) I read a book for MO - as usual it was a different one than I originally planned :-) Model Spy by Shannon Greenland 6* 2/6 but the beginning to a really cool YA espionage series *jumping up and down*

Since I like both pairs I snatch them and plan to read
Another Shot: A Modern-Day Ruth and Boaz Story for SH and
most likelly Noch etwas Strychnin, Schatz?: Fiese Minikrimis für zwischendurch for NO - I love this title so much it's something along the way Some More Strychnine, Darling?: Nasty (or Deliciously Devious) Mysteries For In-Between (think a couple sitting at the table and one asks something like this as if it were sugar, coffee, tea...) so I hope this collection is rather fun than mean-spirited.

Next pairs: DE & BR

message 216: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer (jhaltenburger) OOH OOH I just started a DE about ten minutes ago! Death By Pumpkin Spice (Bookstore Cafe Mystery, #3) by Alex Erickson Death By Pumpkin Spice.

Next pairs: BR and SI

message 217: by Barb (new)

Barb | 1868 comments I can take SI, The Eighth Sister, by Robert Dugoni. I have an ARC I need to read and review in the next couple of weeks.

Next pairs: BR and CO

So cool I wasn't aware Dugoni's written an espionage thriller it's such a great news. Thank you Barb!

Pairs BR & CO

Barb | 1868 comments Agnieszka wrote: "So cool I wasn't aware Dugoni's written an espionage thriller it's such a great news. "

When I first heard about it, I thought it was a continuation of one of his series, so I was excited to learn that it's a stand alone -- at least for now. Who knows if he'll decide to turn this into another series?

message 220: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer (jhaltenburger) I finished Death By Pumpkin Spice. I'll take BR with The Provence Cure for the Brokenhearted.

New Pairs: CO and HA

message 221: by Elle (last edited Mar 01, 2019 12:47PM) (new)

Elle (elleay) | 1791 comments I realize it's taken me a woefully long time to report in that I finished the books for a couple of pairs I took on last year. Like Barb, I'd forgotten what the pairs were and had to look back through the discussion to find them!
LI - You Wouldn't Want to Live Without Bees! by Alex Woolf
FO - The Forbidden Library by Django Wexler

I'll take HA since I have Half-Witch by John Schoffstall on my March to-read list.

Next Pairs: CO & SL

Happened to me a few times as well, and at a point I just started to note it down in my challenge overview excel sheet so now I just check from time to time if I reported back.

I wouldn't mind it at all. So far everything I read by him was so good I'm looking forward to see what he's come up with this time :-)

I keep a spreadsheet for challenges as well. Hadn't thought I needed to add this one to it since it's an ongoing, no deadline type challenge. Changed my mind and added it yesterday so I don't lose track again.

Next Pairs: CO & SL

message 226: by Barb (new)

Barb | 1868 comments After forgetting the match I made earlier, I've added it to my challenge tracking document too, along with the message number of my post and the pair that I'm matching :)

message 227: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer (jhaltenburger) I keep track only because I pick them faster than I get them read!!

Agnieszka (agnieszka7) | 616 comments I just realised two books I want read this month have a CO word A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur's Court & A Code Of Love and so I grab this pair :-)

I finished my NO book and liked it pretty much. Most of the short stories were rather predictable and not very original but often still entertaining (3-4*). There was a handfull of really great and unique stories in-between and a rare thing for a collection: not one I thought was bad or at least unnecessary.

I still have two pairs to complete so I'm not taking a new one for now.

Next Pairs: SL & WO

message 231: by Connie N. (last edited Mar 28, 2019 01:46PM) (new)

Connie N. | 3773 comments I finished my CA book from Message #173:

Cancun by Kimberly Fox - 3/27/19 ♥♥♥
Cancun (Bad Boys on the Beach, #1) by Kimberly Fox

I can't take anything else right now, so I'll concentrate on the ones I've already chosen.

Still: SL & WO

message 232: by Barb (new)

Barb | 1868 comments Finally finished my SI book. Wow, what a ride!

The Eighth *SI*ster (Charles Jenkins #1), by Robert Dugoni, finished 3/29 ★★★★
The Eighth Sister (Charles Jenkins, #1) by Robert Dugoni

I'm glad you liked this book so much so now I'm looking even more forward to read it. I see you've found out as well it's a first in series - when I've seen it last week I was so happy.

Barb | 1868 comments Agnieszka wrote: "I see you've found out as well it's a first in series - when I've seen it last week I was so happy."

Yeah, funny how that worked out. When I started it, it was still showing as a stand alone. By the time I finished it, just two or three days later, it was listed as a series #1. And I was so proud of myself for reading a stand alone instead of starting a new series I'm not going to take the blame for that one LOL

message 235: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer (jhaltenburger) Like you can refuse blame just because you want to. Puh-leeze. I’m pretty sure you’re to blame for the Lindbergh kidnapping, the outlaw Josey wales and the untimely death of liberty valance as well as the bicentennial, the second and third moon landings, the deplorable state of reality television, and—oh yeah—my TBR. Did I forget anything? :-D

Just kidding barb!!!

message 238: by Agnieszka (new)

Agnieszka (agnieszka7) | 616 comments I finished my CO book - as usual I read a different than originally planned - but what's new :-)

Pancakes and Corpses book 1 of The Peridale Cafe Series: 10 Book Box Set 4* 4/4

I'll take RE and read one of my seven books with Rebel in title but have no idea yet which one (Rebel's one of the April words for my Key Word Challenge) so it fits perfect.

Next pairs: SL and AL

message 239: by Agnieszka (new)

Agnieszka (agnieszka7) | 616 comments Just finished my RE book The Rebel's Redemption book 2 of Wounded Hearts - Books 1-3.5: Love Conquers All 4.5* 4/9 - what a roller-coaster!

I'm taking both pairs:
for AL I plan for now one of these Always There, Sweet Home Alaska or Falling for Alaska
I'm not sure yet about the SL book - I want to re-read Slaying Your Giants: How to Have Massive Faith soon but didn't find anything about re-reads so I'm not sure it it's possible other than that most promissing looking right now are Sliced Up or The Sleuth Sisters though that can change anytime :-)

Next pairs: IN & CH

Thank you! So now I know which one I'll read either after Easter or the beginning of next month :-)

Agnieszka (agnieszka7) | 616 comments I just finshed my AL book: All-Butter ShortDead book 1 of The Oxford Tearoom Mysteries Box Set Collection I by H.Y. Hanna 5* 4/11 - didn't expect it to be so good - read way too many mediocore cozies since I discovered this genre for me - so I'm even more happy now I took the risk and got the book set when it was on sale :-)

I'm takinig IN - I'm sure one of those with in in title will fit - right now I suppose it will be In His Shadow

Next pairs: CH & TO

message 243: by Elle (last edited Apr 11, 2019 05:50PM) (new)

Elle (elleay) | 1791 comments I'll take TO since I'm planning to read The Long Way to a Small, Angry Planet soon (-ish?).

Oh I see how it is! Pick on a girl when she's on vacation with no internet access and unable to defend herself. But that's ok, I have broad shoulders and can take it :)

Barb | 1868 comments While I was away, I finally read my book for WO (message #233), and once I got into the story, I liked it a lot more than I thought I would -- and learned a few things in the process, which is always a good thing :)

The Book Woman of Troublesome Creek, by Kim Michele Richardson, finished 4/12 ★★★★

It wouldn't do any good, so why waste the effort? ;)

message 248: by Agnieszka (last edited Apr 27, 2019 02:13AM) (new)

Agnieszka (agnieszka7) | 616 comments I finished this week my (planned) IN book In His Shadow by Tiffany Snow 4* 4/25 and started today my (again planned) SH book The First Shot by E.H. Reinhard - thought it's nothing for the faint of heart and borderline what I can deal with. I hope it won't get more violent I wouldn't want to go for a replacement (even if I have one in mind - the continuation of the first one in this message :-)) since I finally start to work along my plans.

I'm taking both of the current pairs. I'll read most likely one of the following. For
CH: Chronisch krank: Wege zu Gelassenheit und Zuversicht (about chronic illness), Choose Joy: Because Happiness Isn't Enough, Changes That Heal: The Four Shifts That Make Everything Better…And That Anyone Can Do, The Chairman or The Cactus Creek Challenge
MA: Alana Candler, Marked for Murder, Never a Mistress, No Longer a Maid, Mansfield Park, A Map of Heaven or Marked

Next pairs: BY & DR

message 249: by Jennifer (last edited Apr 27, 2019 08:17AM) (new)

Jennifer (jhaltenburger) I'll take BY with Death by Chocolate Cherry Cheesecake (A Death by Chocolate Mystery #1) by Sarah Graves Death by Chocolate Cherry Cheesecake and DR with Dry Bones (Walt Longmire, #11) by Craig Johnson Dry Bones, both of which are on my very-next-up list.

New Pairs: EA and KN

message 250: by Agnieszka (last edited Apr 28, 2019 01:10PM) (new)

Agnieszka (agnieszka7) | 616 comments I finished my SH book The First Shot 3* 4/28 - wasn't bad though I still doubt I'll continue this series - too gory, violence a little bit too graphic and the perp too evil.
I have still three pairs (SL, CH & MA) so I won't take a new one right now.

Current Pairs: EA and KN
