Can the TH be used for the word THE?

Yes, I did read the first in the series, but it was quite awhile ago, so I don't remember much about it. On GR, I gave it 3 stars, but would have given it 3.5 stars if I could. I'm stingy with stars, so 3.5 is good :) I decided to continue the series, so it couldn't have been terrible LOL

In the end I read two different titles for this one - I wasn't sure if there's a page minimum so read a second one :-)
Understanding Suffering: A Short Book Making Sense of a Big Topic by Kent Locke 5* 11/16
Und dann gab's keines mehr=And Then There Were None by Agatha Christie 6* 11/20

I'm going for TH though I'm not sure about my book I'll read yet.
I read The First Lady of Three Rivers Ranch by Liz Isaacson 5* 1/12

JoAnne wrote: "Can the TH be used for the word THE?"
Looks like you missed this one Jennifer and I was wondering about this one as well :-)
Another question: Can we use books we already started? I started quite a while ago Thunder in the Morning Calm but lost interst. As far as I recall I read only a few pages for sure less than 5 percent of the book. If I would go back to this one - can I use it for this challenge or should I pick another one?

Of course. It’s fine if you already started it. :-)

Barb | 1868 comments Does ANY word in the title count, or only significant words? Can we match "the" for TH, for example?

message 60: by Jennifer (last edited Nov 28, 2017 04:47PM) (new)

Jennifer (jhaltenburger) Yep but doesn’t that kind of suck the fun out of it? But to keep the game going it’s allowed. :-)

I apparently missed JoAnne asking that. Sorry J!

message 61: by Barb (new)

Barb | 1868 comments I agree it's not quite in the 'spirit' of the game, but as you said, sometimes it might be necessary to keep the game moving :)

Barb | 1868 comments Finally finished my SE book:

Sex and Salmonella (Tory Bauer #2), by Kathleen Taylor, finished 12/18 ★★★
Sex and Salmonella (Tory Bauer Mystery #2) by Kathleen Taylor

I read the first book in this series three years ago (yikes!) and liked it enough to continue the series. This second book wasn't quite as good as I'd hoped it would be. I've committed to reading the remaining four books in the series for another challenge, though, so I hope the books get at least a little better from here on out.

I can take the DE with One Dead Cookie, which I'm hoping to read before the end of the year ... maybe?

NEXT PAIRS: BL and MI

message 64: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer (jhaltenburger) I'll take BL and read Bloom and Doom Bloom and Doom (Bridal Bouquet Shop Mystery #1) by Beverly Allen .

New pairs: MI and NO

Agnieszka (agnieszka7) | 616 comments Finally I finished my TH book The First Lady of Three Rivers Ranch The First Lady of Three Rivers Ranch (Three Rivers Ranch Romance #8) by Liz Isaacson by Liz Isaacson 5* 1/12 with two TH in title :-) Three & The

It's my second book by this author and despite beeing #7 or 8 in series it's actually the background story set way before the first book in series. I think I discovered a new favorite author and now I'm double glad I grabbed most of the books in this series and another two or three from other of her series when they were free or discounted so much I couldn't resist :-)

I'll take NO and will read most likely No Safe Haven by Kimberley Woodhouse No Safe Haven or No Accident by Dan Webb No Accident I have both pretty long on my Kindle and think it's time to read them :-)

New pairs: MI & TR

Agnieszka (agnieszka7) | 616 comments I finished No Safe Haven by Kimberley Woodhouse No Safe Haven a few days ago and loved it - just wow!

My next pair will be MI and I'll read The Thousand Dollar Man Introducing Colt Ryder - One Man, One Mission, No Rules (Colt Ryder #1) by J.T. Brannan The Thousand Dollar Man: Introducing Colt Ryder - One Man, One Mission, No Rules - I hope subtitles work as well - if not the only other book I found for these letters I want read in next future (the next three months) would be Five Minutes Late by Rich Amooi Five Minutes Late.

The new pairs: TR & SE

message 67: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer (jhaltenburger) Subtitles work!

I'll take TR and read The Trouble With Witches (Wicked Witches of the Midwest #9) by Amanda M. Lee The Trouble With Witches because i have it up for a challenge this month in another group anyway.

new pairs: SE and OR

Barb | 1868 comments So it took me a month longer to get to this book than I'd hoped, but I've finally finished my "DE" book:

One Dead Cookie (Cookie Cutter Shop #4), by Virginia Lowell, finished 1/31 ★★★★
One Dead Cookie (Cookie Cutter Shop Mystery, #4) by Virginia Lowell

I have a book with the word "or" in the title that's on m list to read soon, but that almost seems like cheating. I'll keep an eye on the thread for other possible connections.

Jennifer (jhaltenburger) The word “or” is fine if you want. Those are the first two letters of that word lol!

Agnieszka (agnieszka7) | 616 comments Finally finished my MI book and I didn't like The Thousand Dollar Man: Introducing Colt Ryder - One Man, One Mission, No Rules very much and switched to Miłość w wielkim mieście=Love and the City which I liked even less - but at least it's Polish so I forced myself to finish it (1* 2/26)

I checked my books planned for the next 6 month and have not a single one with DU so I'll read one for ER most likely Erased or Erbarmen=The Keeper of Lost Causes

Glad to be of help :-)
Barb, RE is great I know at least ten titles from the top of my head that would fit :-)

I just found an interesting free short story on smashwords.com that would remove this pesky DU Dunghog - would you mind if I get a second pair and post a new set?

I'm going to get again a second pair - Barb's RE and will read most likely Waiting for Summer's Return though I'm not sure if I'll not read Operation Zulu Redemption: Overkill - The Beginning first - we'll see :-)

I can take Agnieszka's SI with Sisters, Ink, a book on my list to read before the end of this month :)

New pairs: GR and ST

message 89: by Barb (new)

Barb | 1868 comments And I finished my SI book. Unfortunately, I didn't like it as much as I'd hoped, which makes me sad. A series about scrapbooking sounded right up my alley!

Sisters, Ink (Sisters, Ink #1), by Rebeca Seitz, finished 3/28 ★★★
Sisters, Ink by Rebeca Seitz

message 90: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer (jhaltenburger) Doesn’t Laura Childs or Tim Myers or someone have a scrapbooking series?

I have ten books left to theoretically read this month and how is it possible none of them has an ST??

GRRRRRR. Oh, and ST.

message 91: by Barb (new)

Barb | 1868 comments Laura Childs has one, and it's pretty good, but I think she might be winding down with that series, so I was looking for something to take its place eventually. Guess I'll have to keep looking!

With all the books I have on my list to read in April, I don't have any GRs or STs either. You never know what I'll add as the month progresses, though :)

message 92: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer (jhaltenburger) Sooooo i FINALLY finished one of my earlier picks. it kept getting put off by more "urgent" challenge books. Bloom and Doom (Bridal Bouquet Shop Mystery #1) by Beverly Allen Bloom and Doom. Very good start to the series: i'll be continuing.

Still at GR AND ST.....

message 93: by Barb (new)

Barb | 1868 comments If you want to make an exception to the rules and allow an author name to get this moving again, I can take the GR. Otherwise, I'll keep looking :)

message 94: by Jennifer (new)

message 95: by Connie N. (last edited Apr 29, 2018 12:52PM) (new)
