Interestingly I got a couple of comments on my review from the author. She was very understanding, but it always makes me cringe when I think about the author reading a negative review from me.

Connie, That's interesting! I've always wondered if the authors check back to see our reviews...
I finished this one from #448:
Tomorrow, the Stars Robert A. Heinlein 6-10-20
I'll pick CO and read:
Conversations with God, Book 1 Guidebook: An Uncommon Dialogue Neale Donald Walsch
The new letters: LE and TO
OK, I finished that one for CO! A great book on a different type of religion!Conversations with God, Book 1 Guidebook: An Uncommon Dialogue Neale Donald Walsch 6-29-20
For the next one I'll choose TO:
Mr. Putter & Tabby Toot the Horn
The new letters: LE and TW
Finally read my book for GO, way back on an earlier page. I'm not a big romance reader, but I like Jenn McKinlay, so I figured I'd give this one a shot, and liked it more than I expected to. That's a win, right?Paris is Always a Good Idea, by Jenn McKinlay, finished 7/11 ★★★.5
I don't have anything for the current pairs, but I'll keep an eye on the thread and jump back in when the "right" letters pop up :)
I'm glad you both liked your books, ladies, because both are on my TBR!I'll take HE with
.New pairs: AR and OP
I can take LI because my "you look mahvelous" book for this month is
Legacy of Lies. Next pairs: OP and EV
The book I read for TO was a fun one!Mr. Putter & Tabby Toot the Horn Cynthia Rylant 8-9-20
Now, I will pick a spiritual one for OP!
An Open Heart: Practicing Compassion in Everyday Life Dalai Lama XIV
New Pairs: EV and TR
Finished my book for AR : The Dead in Their Vaulted Arches (Flavia de Luce #6), by Alan Bradley, finished 8/3 ★★★★
I finished my book from Post #457:LE - Her Leading Hero by Maggie Dallen - 8/10/20 ♥♥♥
I can take ST and will read either: Stroke of Luck or Stroke of Midnight. Both are on my schedule for August.
I might as well also take EV and will read: Every Time You Go Away which has been on my list for a while.
NEW PAIRS: SA and ON
I finished my pick for LI -
excellent legal thriller/southern mystery. I can take ON with
which has been on my TBR for years and in my personal library here since long before I joined GR...... I think it's time. New Pairs: SA and QU
I finished my ST book from Post #467:Stroke of Luck by Opal Carew - 8/14/20 ♥♥♥
CURRENT PAIRS: SA and QU
Finally finished my book for TR : Death With All the Trimmings (Key West Food Critic #5), by Lucy Burdette, finished 9/22 ★★★.5
I have been very remiss in posting updates on the letter pairs I've taken on (more than a year ago!) and I apologize. Here are two that I have completed:TO: Men Explain Things to Me by Rebecca Solnit (7/26/20) - I know many people really like this book, but me, not so much. I probably shouldn't have read it in 2020 when so much is happening. My mind was perhaps not in the right place to properly take it on. I may give it a re-read at another time.
HA: The Left-Handed Booksellers of London by Garth Nix (9/26/20) - fun retro fantasy (set in 1980's London) by a reliable author.
I'll take QU since I have The Queen of Attolia by Megan Whalen Turner on my October reading list.
New Pairs: SA and EV
Heh. You're remiss in posting them -- that's better than being me, and being remiss in reading them! LOL I'll take SA with
How to Save a Life.New pairs: EV and SP
I changed my OP from #464 from a spiritual one to a mystery.OP=
Open and Shut David Rosenfelt 10-14-20
So, now I'll take SP.
New pairs: EV and AN
Don't know how soon I'll get to it, but I'll take the AN. Maybe it will motivate me to read this much-needed Y title sooner rather than later?
New pairs : EV and TR
From #474, SP is:Mrs. Smith's Spy School for Girls Beth McMullen 11-9-20
Now I'll take: EV
New pairs: TR and BL
I finished a few that I don't think I've posted:
,which means i'm only behind by five on this challenge. That's almost respectable! I'll take TR with
Fake Truth.New pairs: BL and NO
Finally finished my book for AN. It was an entertaining listen, but I preferred the sections read by Al Michaels rather than those by his co-writer. It was weird having someone else read "I went to the airport..." when he was talking about Michaels and not himself! You Can't Make This Up: Miracles, Memories, and the Perfect Marriage of Sports and Television, by Al Michaels and L. Jon Wertheim, finished 12/19/20 ★★★.5
I have lots of books with NO and ME in words in the titles, but nothing with a title word that *starts with those letters, so I'll keep watching :)
Barb wrote: "Finally finished my book for AN. It was an entertaining listen, but I preferred the sections read by Al Michaels rather than those by his co-writer. It was weird having someone else read "I went to the airport..." when he was talking about Michaels and not himself!"I agree! I don't know why famous people don't read their own audiobooks, especially if they have a distinctive voice. I listened to Alan Alda's Never Have Your Dog Stuffed: And Other Things I've Learned, narrated by Mark Cashman. I kept feeling a little off all the way through because I wanted to hear Alda's voice.
The weird thing was that Michaels read parts of the book and the other guy read the rest, and they kept switching back and forth. Wonder why the powers that be thought that would be a good idea?
All right, that's it -- CHALLENGE ACCEPTED, Barb.I'll take NO with
Nothing to See Here.New Pairs: RA and MU
Finished my AT book from way back in Post #319:At Risk by S.G. Redling - 1/29/21 ♥♥♥♥
A good suspense from a new-to-me author.
I'll take CR and will read Crazy for You.
New pairs: VA and LO
Finished my book for MU. It was a good start to a new series, but I could have done without the MC reminding herself over and over and over again that "writers should avoid cliches." Yes, they should, but ... she is a successful author, why does she need to keep reminder herself? That annoyed me enough to knock off a half star. Murder Ink (Writer for Hire #1), by Betty Hechtman, finished 1/26 ★★★
I finished one too -- the "NO" book from post 488.
Nothing to See Here. I did not expect to like this book. I expected it to read like a circus sideshow review and be utterly nonsensical in places. It didn't, and it wasn't. I really liked it -- 4 stars.Pairs are still VA and LO
I finished my BL book for Post #480. Not the one I planned on, but this one works:Bloody Mary by J.A. Konrath - 2/10/21 ♥♥♥♥
I can take HO, but I'm not sure which I'll get to first, How Dogs Love Us: A Neuroscientist and His Adopted Dog Decode the Canine Brain or How Music Works -- probably the dogs book, since I can use 'love' for my next Top 100 song :) Next pairs : VA and SL
Finished my book for HO. It entertained this dog-loving science geek more than I'd expected, but I'm sure it's not for everyone :) How Dogs Love Us: A Neuroscientist and His Adopted Dog Decode the Canine Brain, by Gregory Berns, finished 2/14 ★★★.5
I'll take the SL and hope that motivates me to get to Sleeping Lady, by Sue Henry sooner rather than later :) NEXT PAIRS : VA and LI
I recently finished a backlog book for this challenge:
. Nice holiday story.I'll take LI with
The Lies That Bind.New Pairs: VA and BU
