Alyssa (The Shady Glade) (shadyglade) | 22 comments The only book I know of with a wall of ice surrounding a women's convent is The Singer of All Songs. Doesn't sound like it fits all of your points though...

When did you read this? Is it fantasy? If not fantasy, where and when is the story set? Modern times, ancient times, etc.?

Michele | 2488 comments Was it aimed at kids (YA) or adults? When was "high school" for you? Do you know if it was new at the time you read it, or older?

Bargle | 1762 comments Seconding "The Chanters of Tremaris" trilogy suggested by Alyssa. I read them recently and all your points are in one or more of the books.
Chanters of Tremaris Trilogy

Note to self: correct answer.

Bargle | 1762 comments I'm sure this one is solved by the Chanters of Tremaris trilogy. I'm sending a message to Jo.

Bargle | 1762 comments Well, no reply from Jo. A Mod can move this to Solved, I think.

Since the OP hasn't been heard from since 2014, we'll move this to Solved. This has been requested twice before, here:
