book series about people who sing (?) to control elements /s

I read this series about 6-8 years ago. As far as I can remember, the main/first character you're introduced to can sing to control ice and/or water as her element. I vaguely remember someone mentioning that they freeze the dead inside the giant ice wall that surrounds their home. She later goes on a journey and meets people who can call the wind with their voices, and finds a horn that is supposed to teach her how to call fire.

I'm fairly sure this is not the book as most of what you have written isn't ringing any bells but the first part reminds me of the Crystal Singer by Anne McCaffrey.
