Over halfway done with my book. It is getting really good now. 😀

Andrea Cox (andreacox) | 4741 comments That's great! Hopefully it getting really good will speed up the page-flipping a bit. :)

Only a couple of more days for this round. I'm eager to see what categories will be in the next round. Hopefully there will be something that fits our next-up books.

I can do #32 International Cat Day (October 29) or #18: Labor Day (September 4th). The book I'm currently reading works for those...just let me know which one I should do. :)

Monique the Book Geek (moniquethebookgeek) ROUND ONE - COMPLETE

Nicely done team! :)

message 58: by Monique the Book Geek (last edited Aug 29, 2017 10:31PM) (new)

Monique the Book Geek (moniquethebookgeek) I did a keyword search in the book I'm about to start reading, and it can cover the #38 task + the bonus point. :)

“…the cemetery maintenance man raking leaves a distance away” (pg. 77).

"He stood to use the shovel" (pg. 297).

“Younger than springtime, older than dirt” (pg. 43).

An Undivided Heart (Sister Circle #3) by Vonette Bright

"He stoo..."

Awesome!!

Monique the Book Geek (moniquethebookgeek) A book Jamie is reading can cover task #2 because blue and white are two of its cover's majority colors.

Fatal Frost (Defenders of Justice Book #1) by Nancy Mehl

Monique the Book Geek (moniquethebookgeek) A book Kimberly is reading can cover task #18 because something related to sports is in its text.

Twenty-Eight and a Half Wishes (Rose Gardner Mystery, #1) by Denise Grover Swank
“…with fluorescent green tennis balls” (pg. 253).

Monique the Book Geek (moniquethebookgeek) Something Andrea is reading can cover task #3 because there is a beach scene on the cover and in its text.

The Message in a Bottle Romance Collection Hope Reaches Across the Centuries Through One Single Bottle, Inspiring Five Romances by Joanne Bischof
“Torchlights running to and fro on board, on the beach, winding their way up the hill…” (Prologue).

Wow, Monique! Great finds/searching!

Monique the Book Geek (moniquethebookgeek) A book Melanie is reading can cover task #32 because the title contains the letters C-A-T in it.

Oh my goodness, you are right. I hadn't made it that far. Thank you

message 68: by Andrea (new)

Andrea Cox (andreacox) | 4741 comments Monique, that book doesn't work for me, as I've had to set it aside for more urgent ones. I am reading The Inheritance by Tamera Alexander and The Zookeeper's Wife by Diane Ackerman next. I know Inheritance works for #32 or #18 (picnic in text). I'll have to check on Zookeeper. Is someone else able to take #3?

message 69: by Andrea (new)

Andrea Cox (andreacox) | 4741 comments Ah, wait! I think I found one for #3.
Destination Romance Five Inspirational Love Stories Spanning the Globe by Kim Vogel Sawyer is a review book I really need to get to, and it says this:
"It’s pretty
quiet along this stretch of beach. Do you think all the eggs will hatch and the
turtles will make it to the water?”

Melanie, will that line work for #3 A Day at the Beach?

Monique the Book Geek (moniquethebookgeek) Awesome everyone! 😃 So it seems this is our plan for Round Two:

#3: A Day at the Beach - ANDREA ( Destination: Romance... )
#32: International Cat Day (October 29th) - MELANIE ( The Bachelor's Twins )✔
#38: Lawn Maintenance - MONIQUE ( An Undivided Heart )
#18: Labor Day (September 4th) - KIMBERLY ( Bringing Maggie Home )✔
#2: Independence Day (July 4th) - JAMIE ( Fatal Frost )

I'm happy to have helped work this out as I was having trouble sleeping last night. I hope you all enjoy these books! 😃

Andrea Cox (andreacox) | 4741 comments Looks great to me.

Is it possible on future rounds to let me check my books before assuming which task I'll do? My GR "Currently Reading" is so backlogged with books I've had to set aside that it isn't a good barometer of what I've got going on right now. Thank you!

Monique the Book Geek (moniquethebookgeek) Andrea wrote: Looks great to me. Is it possible on future rounds to let me check my books before assuming which task I'll do? My GR "Currently Reading" is so backlogged with books...

Absolutely Andrea! 😃

Andrea Cox (andreacox) | 4741 comments Thanks, Monique!

One of my favorite things about these team challenges is browsing through my books when the categories come out to see which one close to the top of my TBR list will work for each of the categories. I am often able to read something for more than one category, which provides flexibility for the team. I'm so excited about this round's book! Kim Sawyer is one of my favorite authors, and she wrote one of the stories in this collection.

Monique the Book Geek (moniquethebookgeek) Thank you for completing our Round Two #32 task so quickly Melanie! 😃

Kimberly - Your review of Bringing Maggie Home covers our #18 task, so I posted this on our review page. Thank you Kimberly! 😃

Thank you for working on our #3 task Andrea! 😃

I wrote to Jamie about the #2 task on Tuesday and yesterday, and I haven't heard back from her yet. I hope she can cover this task...

I'll be starting on my #38: Lawn Maintenance task book tomorrow and will finish it by the 9th-10th weekend. 🤓

message 81: by Andrea (new)

Andrea Cox (andreacox) | 4741 comments I'm glad to do my part, Monique.

Does anyone have big plans for Labor Day weekend? My family is planning on barbecuing on Monday. I'm trying a new-to-me burger recipe, so I'm hopeful for that. I've been meaning to find a good homemade burger recipe, and I might have just found a winner. Taste will tell the story, though, so we'll see.

Monique the Book Geek (moniquethebookgeek) I spent Labor Day with my family... Barbecued chicken, corn on the cob, and potato salad. 😃 I hope you all had a blessed weekend!

message 83: by Andrea (new)

Andrea Cox (andreacox) | 4741 comments Yes, it was lovely! Sounds like yours was too. My family and I barbecued turkey burgers and hot dogs (after making s'mores), and we also had Chocolate Deluxe (a chocolate lover's poke cake). And we went to see Leap! on Sunday afternoon. Cute little movie, but there were some crude jokes.

Monique the Book Geek (moniquethebookgeek) Would you recommend Leap Andrea? I first heard of this via 700 Club Interactive last week (6:28-20:06 on this video with character interviews).

Jamie wrote me back and she is for sure reading Fatal Frost for our Round Two #2 task. If you read this, thank you Jamie! :)

message 85: by Andrea (new)

Andrea Cox (andreacox) | 4741 comments Yes, I would, Monique. There are some things that might not be appropriate for all children, but some of it might go over their heads. But it was a really cute movie with a fantastic message. Very enjoyable with funny characters. I love that it features ballet. That was one of the main reasons I wanted to watch it.

Andrea Cox (andreacox) | 4741 comments I'm about halfway through my book right now. Working on it as we speak. :)

Monique the Book Geek (moniquethebookgeek) Andrea wrote: "Yes, I would, Monique..."

I'm still a kid at heart and will likely be watching Leap. Thanks for the mention Andrea! :)

I'm working on reading my book as we speak too. ;)

Andrea Cox (andreacox) | 4741 comments How far are you into your book? Is it interesting? Remind me which one you're reading again, please.

I just finished the second novella in Destination Romance Five Inspirational Love Stories Spanning the Globe by Julane Hiebert .

Monique the Book Geek (moniquethebookgeek) I'm about halfway through my book (An Undivided Heart), which I'm loving and will finish it by the end of this week. :)

message 90: by Andrea (new)

Andrea Cox (andreacox) | 4741 comments Jamie, how's your book coming along? Are you enjoying it so far?

Monique the Book Geek (moniquethebookgeek) Melanie - Is there any chance the book you are currently reading could fulfill our #2 task if we don't hear back from Jamie before the Round Two deadline (9/13)? It would work because the majority color on the book's cover is blue.

Beneath Copper Falls (Rock Harbor #6) by Colleen Coble

I read this book very recently and enjoyed it. I hope you are too. :)

Yes, I can do that if she doesn't get it done in time. I'm loving the book, but have had little reading time this week. Can't wait to read more!

message 93: by Andrea (new)

Andrea Cox (andreacox) | 4741 comments I'm excited to see which categories are called on Wednesday. I just went through and made notes on which of my September books will work for which categories. I hope one of the ones I can cover pops up next (there are lots that work for the three books I'm planning on getting to next). This month is a really busy one for me with two editing jobs and tutoring.

Monique the Book Geek (moniquethebookgeek) Thankfully I finished my book for our Round Two #38 task. I might not be online much these next few days as I'm preparing to be hit by Hurricane Irene tomorrow and might experience a power outage.

So, just in case I can't get online Wednesday to see our Round Three tasks... Here is the book I'll be reading over the next two weeks:
A Place to Belong (Sister Circle Series Book 4) by Vonette Bright

Some of the tasks this book can cover are:

#1: “The summer was only a third over and she was already eager for school to start again” (pg. 176).
#4: “…to the pool with Cynthia and her mother” (pg. 147).
#5: “…she and her husband and son had gone camping in Canada” (pg. 49)
#6: “…the June sun was hot and she needed her sunglasses” (pg. 7).
#11: “…and pulled out a pint of mint-chocolate-chip ice cream” (pg. 149.
#12: Lucinda filled the glasses with iced tea” (pg. 24).
#13: “Evelyn sliced off the hard green skin of the watermelon” (pg. 148).
#20: “…cookies for the Fourth of July bake sale” (pg. 82).
#21: “Mae held her mug of cinnamon-apple tea under her nose, drinking in the spices” (pg. 260).
#22: “If Frank hadn’t died in Vietnam” (pg. 152). Frank was a soldier who lost his life in the Vietnam war.
#23: “…making a moat of three pillows around herself” (pg. 308).
#25: “Mae took a peppermint from the candy jar” (pg. 147).

I’ll add to this later if I can…

You guys, I'm gonna try my best to get the second book done in time, but it might not happen. This week has been incredibly busy. O.o

Monique the Book Geek (moniquethebookgeek) With the power out yesterday from Hurricane Irma, I ended up fulfilling our Round Two #3 task with a book I started reading earlier this summer and needed to finish before my library loan expired. So if you can’t finish this task for whatever reason Andrea, I can post for this round tomorrow. :)

Taken by Dee Henderson
"They walked a good stretch of the beach in silence, her attention on the waves coming into the shore” (pg. 491-2).

Also, no worries Melanie. It turns out Jamie finished her task #2 reading on Friday, so I posted to our team review page for her. :)
