Pass The Parcel Round 9 - Q&A / Theme Announcements
I've uploaded the progress spreadsheet in msg 1 of this thread. Also, just to reiterate one of the RRRC reading rules since it is generally taken from granted:
All books read during RRRC challenges must not be started prior to a call or start of the challenge. If you are currently reading a book when I make a call, and it fits the call, you must either start from the beginning or pick another book.
Jane, are we reading multiple books this week to fully spell the word or just filling what letters we can with 1 book each?
Shannon wrote: "Jane, are we reading multiple books this week to fully spell the word or just filling what letters we can with 1 book each?"Just one book ~ filling in whatever letters you can with a book each.
Hi everyoneJust a general heads-up that with only two more theme calls in the challenge, if you are not getting your books selected in time (before the next call) or fall behind by more than 2 books, I WILL remove you from play as per the rules.
oh noes... I'm really sick this week so I'm going to have to use my pass for wk9, but in the middle of my wk8 and i'll continue that one :)
Fyre.Katz wrote: "oh noes... I'm really sick this week so I'm going to have to use my pass for wk9, but in the middle of my wk8 and i'll continue that one :)"Did you post this in your team thread F.K?
Hope you feel better soon!

They did! =)
hey Jane, just want to double check: "a", "an" and "the" at the beginning of the title don't have to count as starting the title, correct? i.e. I can use something like The Duke for "D"?
Rachel C. wrote: "hey Jane, just want to double check: "a", "an" and "the" at the beginning of the title don't have to count as starting the title, correct? i.e. I can use something like The Duke for "D"?"Yep :)
lol. So, I'm predicting the category for this week (or next week) ahead of time. If I'm wrong, my psychic abilities suck, but if I'm right...There was one category that I didn't have any books picked out for, and that was the double letter one, so I thought I should try and find at least one, since, with my luck, that would be the category called on the last call. I started looking through my "currently reading" shelf, and I found 14 books in the first 15 that I looked at.
beppy when I first read your message I thought Jane had asked you to make the call. I was so excited because I thought you were going to give it to us early! LOL

Hi Jane!Quick question....if Kat has Master of Freedom on her shelf, and it's part of two series, Mountain Masters & Dark Haven #7, 1001 Dark Nights #16, can I read any title in either of these series?
Thanks! I think the answer is yes, but want to double check before I choose my book :)
No royalty for me, lol.

ANNOUNCEMENT for our final weekDue to a few members pulling out or dropping out, a couple of teams heading into the final round have only 4 players.
To make sure we are all playing on a level field, we've decided to add another rule* in the final week for this round.
The WINNING team will be the first team that:
1. has read all their books from the prior weeks
2. has a SELECTION post for each of their current team members for week 11
3. is the first team to post 4 COMPLETION posts for week 11
4. AND posts back into THIS thread that they have finished.
Depending on the time, one of the mods (if I'm asleep) can then determine if all posts qualify and announce the winner.
*Please note: this rule is subject to change each round depending on team composition and challenge flow heading in to the final week.
Can any member of the team post, because due to time differences I too may be asleep when the final player in our team posts their completion post.
Lisa wrote: "Can any member of the team post, because due to time differences I too may be asleep when the final player in our team posts their completion post."Yes - any team member can post the "finished" comment in the Q&A thread.
Elizabeth wrote: "Jane, how much time left for the final category?Does the rule with four completion posts apply?"
I'll post in 30 mins. That's 6pm EST USA.
The winning team will need to have selection posts for all team members, and 4 completion posts...
Week 11Option 1
8. Gloppy - what a great name.
Read a humorous book from one of the following lists:
Humorous Romance Books
Humorous Paranormal Books
The Best Humourous Gay Romances
Quirky Southern Fiction
Best Humorous Historical Romances
These are compulsory lists. Your selected book MUST come from one of these lists. You must link to the list and note which page/which number it is on that list.
Option 2
Key date: 19 May 2017
If you use this option, this week you must select your book from the team shelves immediately below your team in this list. The last team picks from the first team.
5 Lord Licorices Ladies
4 Gramma Nutts
12 Candy Strippers
6 Suckers for Romance
10 SweeTEN Sassy
11 Lemon Drop Ladies
13 Gumdrop Mountain Maidens
3 Rainbow Reading Queens
1 Eyre Heads
8 Lollipop Lickers
7 Team of Smarties
2 2 Sweet Gumdrop Dolls
9 King Kandy Krusaders
Eg. Team 5 picks from team 4's members bookshelves. Team 9 picks from team 5's members bookshelves.
Please ensure you follow the format shown in msg 3 of your team threads. when you post your selection and completion posts.
Jane, I understand why you change up the pick for option 2 in the last round but I have just looked through the team below me and there are very few MM books to choose from, if any, One person's shelves are set to private, so to access them would be a friends request and waiting. Also the team having to choose from my teams shelves will have a difficult time. A couple of my team read a few MF but we were mainly MM readers which would restrict that teams choice.
Thus limiting the option to take option 2.
Lisa wrote: "Jane, I understand why you change up the pick for option 2 in the last round but I have just looked through the team below me and there are very few MM books to choose from, if any, One person's sh..."I realise this Lisa but that is how we have always played this game in the last round. Most ppl in this week are selecting from the humour lists...
Next round I will try to ensure that all teams have a mix of MF/MM players to allow better selection in the final week.
The winning team must be done with all the weeks though, correct? If there are 4 completion posts for week 11 but a player has an outstanding book, then the game is still going?
Stacie wrote: "The winning team must be done with all the weeks though, correct? If there is still an outstanding post from a week prior to week 11, the team can't finish.
Thanks Jane! And thanks once again for hosting and putting up with all of us...I know we don't always make it easy for you!
