Dan Gallagher walks off the job when Lucy decides to give full resources to Jack and investigate Higgie. What did you think of his reaction?

Anita (anitanodiva) | 849 comments I expected that too. Dan must have known, deep down that Lucy and he were never going to be together and that Jack had an inside track.

Lauren (laurenjberman) | 2240 comments It seemed unprofessional and childish to me.

My thinking exactly. I lost respect for him.

Yes, it doesn't bode well for his book, which is next.

I know and I'm actually dreading it.

Lauren (laurenjberman) | 2240 comments Hopefully, he will be a professional and an adult.

He made Lucy run after him. I can't get that out of my head. He said the hell with the job and the others who were supposed to be his brothers and sisters.

Lauren (laurenjberman) | 2240 comments From the blurb, I don't think the Bullet Catchers play a big role in his book. This would make sense considering he left them in the lurch.

Maybe she (St. Claire) has him come crawling back and acknowledging his unprofessional behavior to the team. Based on the epilogue, I don't think so.

Anita (anitanodiva) | 849 comments I got why Dan has his nose out of joint, but Lucy never gave him any reason to believe they could be anything more than friends. If he doesn't come to terms with that then he is just not the man I thought he was.

Robin (robinmy) | 1214 comments I wasn't bothered by him not working the Higgins case. Dan was already working on a case in DC, and he did help them out by giving Lucy and Jack some info that he discovered.

When Dan told Lucy near the end of the book that he needed a leave of absence and that it was personal, I suspected something had happened while he was in Washington DC. Maybe he met someone, but needs to follow up on whatever mystery she is involved in. I don't think him leaving is just because Lucy is happy with Jack.

Anita (anitanodiva) | 849 comments You are probably right, Robin. It makes plot sense that Dan is off on a personal mission.

Lauren (laurenjberman) | 2240 comments Robin wrote: "I don't think him leaving is just because Lucy is happy with Jack. ."

I agree that his leaving wasn't only about Lucy and Jack, but also because he needed to move on. The connection to his earlier case didn't occur to me but I think you are right, Robin.
