Thibault2000 | 5 comments Hello,

I'm looking for a book that I have read in 2007. The story, set in the USA, is about a husband who is going on a trip in a cabin to spend some time alone, but he never comes back. The second part of the novel is about, if I remember correctly, how the family copes with the disappearance of the husband/father.

Can someone name that book? Thank you for your help! Thibault.

Thibault2000, what's the genre or tone - mystery, crime, romantic suspense, etc.? Does a romance develop between the wife and a new character?

Can you tell us more about the husband and family - their jobs, interests/skills, how many kids in the family, state of the marriage, family or financial problems, etc.?

Thibault2000 | 5 comments Thank you for your message. I am not so sure about the genre or tone. If I remember correctly, it was kind of bittersweet. Maybe the dad/husband was some kind of stay at home dad. I believe things were kind of rocky with the wife, but that's the lot of every married couple from time to time. He was supposed to spend some time alone (maybe fishing ?), but he never came home.

I don't remember the book as being too romantic or mystery/suspense. I believe it was more along the lines of Jeffrey Eugenides.

How would you describe Jeffrey Eugenides books (re: message #3)?

Thibault2000 | 5 comments Two years after, it's hard to say to explain what I wanted to express!

I would say "nonchalant", "bittersweet".
