In between my Brockmann glom books, I squeezed in Hate to Want You by Alisha Rai,which I enjoyed. It's more mainstream than her previous books, I think (they were erotic) but still on the hotter end of straight contemporary. The conflict/set up felt very soap-ish with feuding families and lots of angst and generational conflict. Angst and high drama aren't my usual jam, but I liked Livvy and Nicole together and am looking forward to the next book starring her brother and her best friend.

After that it was back into the Brockmann's with Into the Storm which I somehow missed back when it first came out. Loved Jenk and Lindsey together and it was refreshing to read a hero who wasn't outrageously tall for a change. And I'd forgotten how funny Brockmann could be, too. Was going to dive into the next one, but just got approved for the upcoming Laura Griffin so I have a decision to make.

I'm reading an ARC of A Daring Arrangement, Joanna Shupe's next Gilded Age historical romance. I'm delighted that she is continuing to set books in this period and adding more great American historicals to the romance mix.

I just read an excerpt of this, Eloisa James and Tessa Dare's new releases in Buzz Books 2017: Romance: Exclusive Excerpts from Forthcoming Romance Titles by Tessa Dare, Alexandra Ivy, Eloisa James, Gena Showalter, Joanna Shupe, Meredith Wild and Many More. I'm excited for all 3 of them. What a good idea to put a book out with excerpts of all the upcoming releases. It was a great teaser.

I, too, am excited that Joanna Shupe is continuing to set her books in this period, Janga. I really enjoyed her earlier series and look forward to this one.

I'm actually floundering in my reading selections these days. I must have picked up 10 different books in the past 2 weeks and nothing is keeping my interest. So, I'm doing a lot of re-reading/skimming some of my comfort series - Stage Dive, Virgin River, Chicago Stars, The Bedwyns...

I inhaled my ARC of Touch of Red by Laura Griffin in one sitting last night. It was a solid addition to the Tracers series, though I've loved others more. Still I liked the hero and heroine and the mystery was good.

Trying to decide between the other ARC I have or another Brockmann.

Irish, have you read Jo Bourne's new one, Beauty Like the Night? I couldn't put it down. I thought it was an extraordinary conclusion to a consistently excellent series.

I have not read Jo Bourne's newest, Janga. I think I'm a book or two behind on that series and didn't want to buy this one before finishing the others. In fact, I don't think I finished Adrian's story!!! Which is unbelievable to me because I absolutely loved him throughout the series and couldn't wait for his story to be told, but I found the book with the bookmark placed somewhere in the middle. LOL

I absolutely love her books but, how do I say this, I have to be in the right frame of mind and be able to concentrate with no distractions to read her stories. RL has been one big distraction lately getting my 2 kids back to college! I'm pretty sure that's why I never finished The Black Hawk... I was probably getting interrupted or distracted, kept re-reading the same passage and then forgot what happened previously and just gave up.
