We talk with author Daniel H. Wilson about his book, Clockwork Dynasty and why we might not need to fear the robots.

Lena Thanks for another great show! I might check out Clockwork Dynasty. I had heard Robopocalypse was a bit much, for me, like the brutal Butlarian Jihad to the third power. Clockwork sounds lighter.

A friend of mine who doesn't read SF too often recently read Robopocalypse and she said it scared the hell out of her. My pointing out that some of the things in the book have happened in real life probably didn't help. :p

Lena Trike, you evil soul! Lol!

Aaron | 285 comments I found Robopocalypse to be a cross between World War Z (the book) and Terminator. Oral history of the rise of our robot overlords. It was interesting.

Louie (rmutt1914) | 885 comments FYI- The documentary that Tom mentions is called The Sweetest Sound, directed by Alan Berliner.

Sky | 665 comments Daniel H. Wilson is always fun to have on the show - glad you brought him back.

I never realized A Boy and His Bot was written by him - I read it to my 15 month old every night :)

Excited to check out The Clockwork Dynasty. It sounds a little more upbeat than the Robopocalypse series which I loved but gotta say was a little dark, and I'm in the mood for something a little happier now.

I enjoyed the segment on attacking sensors to beat the robot uprising. Reminded me of the work that just came out of UW that attacked the sensors on self driving cars by using stickers to turn stop signs into speed limit signs :)

I agree with terpkristin - I am a bit biased too but love his background (along with Mark Lawrence
and Ramez Naam who both write great fiction and have programming degrees/backgrounds.

Lena Just started Clockwork - The male narrator has a delicious voice... a little googling... The narrators are Nick & Adeline from Grimm!!!
