Yay! Dark Protectors! have you read her Sin Brothers books? I am excited about her next Blood Brothers book (spinoff of the Sin Brothers)

Sorry to hear that. It sucks when the only reason to finish a book is for a challenge and not because you are enjoying.

I loved this book. At times I laughed and others I got choke up with emotion. Spence and Colbie were both having realize that past events do not define what your future is. Even though their reasons were different, I love how both Spence and Colbie were a little standoffish with getting to know most new people. Spence with his fame from an interview he gave which threw him in the limelight and Colbie being a well-known author writing under a pen name. One of my favorite things Spence did was read Colbie’s list of 10 things she wanted to do in San Francisco and willing to help her complete them, in addition to showing her a few things she didn’t know about to do.
It was nice reconnecting with other characters in this series and see what craziness the women got into while dragging Colbie along for the ride. I would highly recommend this series to anyone who love contemporary romance.

Review: Starts where book 1 leaves off. Jake has finished his first six weeks of treatment for his bipolar disorder and has been staying with his boyfriends , Cris and Chet during this time. He now feels he needs to return to his apartment to ensure that he can take care of himself on his own. Jake drove me just as nuts in this book as he did in the last one. It's pointed out numerous time and totally rung true for me. Jake was too young/immature to be in this relationship with the other two and I never felt like he truly matured. I enjoyed the parts about Dell and Taro. Hope they will get a book but if the next books are about these three again I will skip it.

That sucks when that happens. I am glad I remember an author that writes Magical Realism and found a couple of audios for her books at my library.

I probably would have enjoyed the book more if everyone didn’t get their HEA. When a character (Josie’s mom) is horrible throughout the entire book, I just do not like seeing them find happiness when their behavior doesn’t change. There are several stories within this book. I did like seeing Josie starting to break free from her mother’s domineering behavior with a little help from a spirit (at the time she didn’t realize she was one). At 27, Josie starts to finally live her life for herself looking for happiness. Along the way, she develops two very special friendships. I did enjoy Josie’s story the best. It did intertwine with her new friends. I’m not sure how I feel about Chloe’s story. Her boyfriend cheated on her and she eventually takes him back because she loves him. There was a lot of drama in between along with a book about forgiveness that kept popping up for Chloe. I did have a problem with the justification of why he cheated and how she could forgive him after finding out who the woman was. I do like the narrator the author gets for her books. This is the second book I have listen to from her and she does a wonderful job drawing you in.

Review: this was an interesting concept but the writing style didn't really jel with me. I liked Charlie and his daughter Sophie. It finally got really good about 60-75% into the book. I've never read this author and do plan on reading book two as it may have just been the world building etc and #2 might be better.

Though I enjoyed this one, I kind of felt like it was a bit of a filler book in the series. It often felt like the whole book was just a build up for the next book in the series, Jase's. Kane and Amber's story was just sort of ho hum for me, Kane was way too analytical and Amber too accepting of his moods and the whole crazy situation. In the other books I felt pulled into the story and really was rooting for the two characters to fall in love, whereas, in this book, I was more feeling kind of like, get it over with, and let's rescue Jase. Which, really doesn't seem like the point, but at the same time, I can't wait to read the next two books.

So I'm in a really, really bad reading slump right now. I don't even listen to audios. I feel really bad, and I don't want to let you down. If you want to find someone else for me, I'll definitely understand. Otherwise bear with me. I'll try and get something finsihed over the weekend.

Anita, the game hasn't got very long to go, so I suggest you read something that always makes you feel better for Reader's Choice, and do good re-reads for your missing shelves. That always makes my reading slump go away, hopefully it works for you too.

Review - so this story is different from the others as it is told in dual POV from Mercy and Adam who are separated for most of the book. Listened to on audio ~ it was fabulous. The beginning of the story sees Mercy in a car accident and kidnapped by Marsilla's old lover, powerful European Vampire - Bonarata. Cut off from her bounds to Adam and the pack. Don't want to tell too much but I love that Mercy is always able to take care of Mercy ~ even though the she gets herself into the craziest situations. Love that even though Adam knows Mercy can handle herself he still goes all Alpha when something happens to her. LOL - Matt Smith (the Doctor), submissive wolf - too funny!! Have to say for what Bonarata did - he got off way too easy in my mind.

It seemed to be a very well-liked book with the average rating. I just had a hard time really enjoying the book because I really didn’t like the MC and also had a hard time getting into the world the author created. I found it hard to believe how quickly life changed for everyone and how it was accepted by the majority. I really can’t see society as a whole willing to have rights go back over a hundred years without more protests and fights. Less than five years for society to change to drastically, along with new customs that are really disturbing. I am going off how Offred talked about her daughter being in preschool and then three years since the last time she saw her, and her daughter should be about 8 years old now with how long it’s been. At least on a good note Claire Danes did a good job narrating.

This book was okay to me. I loved LK's Wallflower series so when I saw this on the list I jumped at reading it since there were so few books appealing to me on this list. The first half of this book was very slow. We learn a bit of the ghosts history at the house, and we get to see the decline of Alex's marriage and his fall into his drinking. It doesn't really pick up much as we catch up to present day of Alex and Zoe's lives, but it is slightly better as we see them meet and have Alex discover the ghost at the home his brother is renovating. Once Alex and Zoe are working together to renovate the cabin for her grandmother, and Zoe is able to see past Alex's bitter shell, the book was much easier to read through, but that was almost half way through. At that point, it did become a sweet read, as Alex did sweet gestures for her and stopped drinking, drastically improving his personality. As we discovered the identity of the ghost, and more of his story is remembered, along with the growth of Alex and Zoe's romance, the book became much more enjoyable, but it seemed to take too long to get there. It wasn't awful, but it was a bit slow to get through.

Oh, it is always so wonderful to revisit early Mercy. This something like my fourth or fifth read of this one. As I read the most recent book earlier this year, I was thinking how much I wanted to go back and re-read the majority of the series, and what fun it is. I always enjoy going back to see how we were introduced to Mercy, Adam, Samuel and Bran. Patricia Briggs is such a wonderful story teller, and revisiting these stories are such a great treat for me. My plan this time is to read this series and the Alpha and Omega in their reading order so that I can track all the events as they should go.

Never mind - book not long enough. I'll figure something else out :)
