So good! I flew through that whole series last bingo round, now I need to find something new that I can get at my library.

Heather ~ Marceline | 1017 comments I am going to read Consumed (Dark Protectors, #4) by Rebecca Zanetti for this week's shelf. It is book 4 in the series.

I'm at 67% on my free shelf, so hopefully I will be done soon!

Ora (oeamis) I love Rebecca Zanetti and Cynthia Eden.

I just realized that bingo was called today. I'm not quite sure which book I am going to read for 2nd 3rd or 4th yet.

I am going out of town tomorrow until Sunday. I am not sure how much reading I will get done or how much time I will be on goodreads either.

I never really binge read series. I started this series last year in April. I've loved all the books though.

Anita Reads | 595 comments For the new shelf I'm thinking of these:

Changeless (Parasol Protectorate, #2) by Gail Carriger The Stone Sky (The Broken Earth, #3) by N.K. Jemisin A Second Chance (The Chronicles of St. Mary's, #3) by Jodi Taylor

It all depends on when I can fit the audios in (all 3 are audio options). I am pretty close to finishing Fool's Fate. I'm super excited for The Stone Sky, but I think it's a bit longer than the other 2.

Finished 8/20/17
3.5-4♥

Review: this was an interesting take on a dystopian type world. Food companies have been making low cost Manna in different flavors and people are eating less 'real' food. Nelson is at a food job fair when things go wrong. He hooks up with Javier whom he'd been flirting with and two others barely make it out of there only to discover riots in the streets. They make it to Javier's pal, computer geek Tim's van and get away. Honestly for me this was a little rushed, all takes place in the span of 3-4 days with lots of stuff thrown in and totally insta everything,

Hunted (Dark Protectors, #3) by Rebecca Zanetti

Hunted by Rebecca Zanetti

8/18/17 ★★★★

So far I have read this series fairly sporadically, so it always takes me a little bit to get back in and remember the other characters, the world it resides in and what all is going on. Since I read book two during the last bingo round, I think, it wasn't as hard to get back into, and it was such a fun ride this time. In book two I remember Conn warned Moira he was coming to get her, now that his 100 promised years had passed, and he did not lie. This book picks up with Conn arriving to claim Moira, 100 years after what was supposed to be a fun night between the much older vampire and young witch, but instead ended in Conn marking her, much to Moira and her family's dismay. Conn agreed to go away for those 100 years to give Moira, the seventh daughter of a seventh daughter, the much needed century she needed to train and grow into the powers she would have. But Conn is having it no more. However, the two have to get through a century of miscommunication, which is a lot of baggage to deal with, as well as a frustratingly high amount of kidnappings for any couple in a single book. Despite my frustration with the kidnappings, this was another great installment in this series, as a cure of the virus was continued to be tested and the Kurjans were continued to be battled.

Anita Reads | 595 comments I got 'The Stone Sky' down on my audible, so I'll probably end up going with that one for the shelf call. I hope to start it soon.

I started on my freespace book and I'll try and have that finished as soon as possible as well. My reading has been a bit sporadic the past week, as I've had a lot of things on my plate.

Ora (oeamis) Hi team! This is my first chance to get on goodreads for several days. Between traveling and then going to an eclipse party I just got home. I will get reviews updated tomorrow. I am just too tired and do not want to turn my computer so I can link reviews. I have no idea how to on my iPad.
I am going to listen to Dreams of Gods & Monsters (Daughter of Smoke & Bone, #3) by Laini Taylor tomorrow.

So I absolutely loved the first two books in this series, this was kind of anticlimactic. The story was slowly building up to something big happening and then it just fizzled out. I am not sure if I would have wanted to finish the book if I didn’t listen to it. There were some things I wished either wasn’t in the book or would have had a better reason for happening. The angels travel through a portal to Earth, stays for a few days and then leave. Yeah the author gives a reason, but it is kind of lame. Why even bother having that in the book. I really thought there was going to be more to it. There were other things with Akiva’s people, the Stallions (not sure if that’s the correct way in spelling since I listened to the audio) and the big prophesy that didn’t happen. I was just really frustrated with the last third of the book. At least I loved the characters.

Consumed (Dark Protectors, #4) by Rebecca Zanetti

Consumed by Rebecca Zanetti
8/21/17 ★★★★

I wasn't as excited about this installment of the series. I don't know if it was because Jordan wasn't one of the Kayrs brothers, or if it was because we had already been dealing with Jordan and Katie's back and forth for a couple of books already. That anticipation would normally pull me in more, but for some reason I kind of dreaded this one. But... I was greatly surprised! I actually really enjoyed this book. The twist of Jordan being infected with the virus at the very beginning of the book, added a rush to this story that made me not want to put it down. Everyone has a deadline of the upcoming full moon in this book before Jordan will no longer be a cat shifter and instead will turn into a mindless werewolf that will need to be taken out. There are several heartbreaking parts as Jordan and Katie have to make life altering decisions, but there was a great progression to the series in this book. I can't wait to get through the next couple books and get to Janie's book #7 to see what all happens between Janie, Zane and Kalin.

This was a hard one for me. I found one I really wanted to read, averaged like 4.6 stars but neither of my libraries had it available. Hopefully you are able to find one you like!

Book The Night Circus

I absolutely loved the magical world that was created. This is a book I believe would make a wonderful movie. At the beginning there is a wager made for a game. You really don’t understand the scope of the game until later in the book. I thought the men who had Celia and Marco play the game were callous. I mean how could you want to someone to play that game when you know what has to happen for it to end, especially Celia’s father? Hard to say exactly what it is without giving away huge spoilers. For a debut book this was wonderful. I loved the circus and how Celia and Marco worked together on the labyrinth together and creating other tents. I really wish there were more interaction with Celia and Marco along with Poppet and Bailey.

message 93: by Anita Reads (new)

Anita Reads | 595 comments I feel like I got a better sense of Poppet and Bailey than Celia and Marco. That was my main dislike about the book. I ended up giving it a 4 stars as well. Pretty amazing for a debut book. I wonder when she'll come out with something new.

I still haven't decided on what to read. It might have to be a contemporary book, because I have them at hand immediately.

I'm thinking about either of these:
Pushing the Limits (Pushing the Limits, #1) by Katie McGarry The Hate U Give by Angie Thomas A Study in Charlotte (Charlotte Holmes, #1) by Brittany Cavallaro

Review - while I enjoyed this story - it may have gone better for me if it wasn't on audio. It was hard to keep track of all the different people (especially - the upper class) and how they fit together....or didn't. First by this author that I've read and I enjoyed the characters and secondary characters enough that I will continue the series. I think I'll do book #2 reading instead of listening. I'm hoping book 2 is Will's book.

That sounds like the first couple of Dresden Files books I read. Really good but kind of drags. Hopefully they will pick as the series goes. I don't think I would have been able to continue with the DF if they didn't. Kind of sucks that I am caught up on the series now.
