Shelf: Vampires

Lover Reborn by J.R. Ward
Date Read: 15/09/17
Rating: 4*
Review:
This continues on from the end of the last book and follows Tohrment and No'one as they work to put the past behind them and seek out a new future, with a little help from an angel. I love the way we are drawn in to the lives and thoughts of the MCs of the book and are also given an insight into the lives of the other characters. I can't wait to read the next in the series so as to see how the war between the Brotherhood and Band of Bastards hits up and Blau and Quinn finally get it together.

I wasn't overly struck on this adaptation of Macbeth. Based in a school where the Kingsley Award is the prize in question, Maria will do anything to win this, in the belief that she is being directed by her dead grandmother. I felt there were too many elements in the story as if the author wanted to tick a lot of boxes. Not an author I will be revisiting anytime soon

Review: So basically sums up this book (well at least all I can remember):

How much romance can one person stomach in a book. Well not even romance! It's bloody denial romance! Kai just annoyed me so much in this one that I was actually for once on Anna's side, especially when (view spoiler)
And how bloody typical was it that (view spoiler) Like seriously.

So pleased I got this done in a day. Would've hated for this one to drag out. So pleased it's over.["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>

Review:
It was more YA than I thought it was going to be, (MC turns 16 in the beginning of the book) so I wasn't that excited to read it. It wasn't horrible though. I like the introduction of the Iron Fey and how they came into existence. Reminds me of American Gods, not that these two books are on the same level.
It had the typical YA things that usually keep me from reading these books. Not a fan of teenage love drama, nor the stupid decisions they make without thinking it through. And no one will ever convince my why it makes since that a Fey (or any other long-living being) that has been around for 100's of years will fall in love with a 16 yr old human.
With my personal reading preference complaints out of the way, I could possibly be persuaded to read the next in the series...

I wish Charles Dodson had explained more about (view spoiler) I really appreciated Alyss when she (view spoiler) I still wonder if (view spoiler) will pop up somewhere again.["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>

We have 2 reviews outstanding, both for this weeks shelf, which is pretty good going. Yay Us!!!!
And we've got 3 stamps coming as soon as Steph gets somewhere with good wifi.

You now have an updated BINGO card with a stamp on 'debut author', 'vampires' and 'spin-off'.
[Your updated BINGO card can be viewed on page 1]
Good Job!! :D

I'll be reading

Has it always been this way, every group with the same shelf each week?

So it's not pointless. It's basically a second Free Space! 😀

I have 13 books in my Current Reading Plan shelf, which is always my go-to, unless I need to dig for something. ;-)
I think it will be between

But one is 500 pages and the other is 250..... hmmmmmmm

This has been on my kindle forever and I'm surprised it took me this long to read it. It is a bit like Percy Jackson meets Black Dagger Brotherhood with the saviour of the race being the Argonauts. There's plenty of mythology references in there along with a determined female who is part of a prophecy. All in all a good read. This is one series I will probably continue.

Sunshine, did you decide on one yet?
I'm nearly finished

We first met Holly (Sorrow) Chang in the first book, as a human victim of the mad, psychotic Archangel Uram. He changed her, but she wasn't a vampire or an angel, she was unique. So broken, it was decided she needed to be watched, just in case she went bad ....
Venom, the youngest of the Seven at only 300 yrs old, a vampire with snake eyes, also unlike anyone else ever Made, is one of the ones who trains her when he is in New York, along with Dmitri, Raphael's Second, Ashwini, a Guild Hunter/Vampire & her mate Janvier, one of Raphael's top security vampires.
The snarkiness between Holly & Venom leads to the realization that they truly understand each other, they are very alike in movements, intelligence, and their moral compass. Venom calls her Kitty or Hollyberry, Holly calls him ViperFace. There is no instalove here, it is a long, slow burn......
As Holly gets stronger, she starts exhibiting strange powers, though she keeps them to herself, as she is pretty sure it isn't a good thing. There can be only one cause ~ Uram. And he should be dead as Raphael obliterated him over Manhattan, back in the first book.
Love this series, all the characters and world building and I've waited a long time to find out what happened to Holly. Really looking forward to what happens next.

Review: Once again this book made me well up when (view spoiler) . I don't know why, seeing as this book frustrated me so much, but I just get so invested in the plot, the characters. Although the two MCs annoy me no end, I can't help but fall into them. This is a fantastic light read, definitely a summer read, and it just flies by. I'm definitely Team Jeremiah, as he's just perfect <3 I also think Belly's a little unbelievable, how she (view spoiler) But whatever. I already know this won't be my last time reading this one.["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>

I liked this better than the first one. Missy has headed to Las Vegas for a competition. One night later, she is a suspect in the murder of Marta Cambridge, an old home-town rival and a judge in the competition. Missy calls up Chas for support and he flies to LV to help her. Awwwwwe. :-D These two are so cute.
Quick read. I finished it in one day and look forward to then next one.

How It Fits: #1 in Shifters Unbound
Review
This was a good start to what promises to be a breathtaking series. Kim is a sassy attorney tasked with defending a shifter charged with murdering his girlfriend. To discover the truth Kim has to enter the lion's den, and in learning the truth she risks uncovering the darkest secrets of the shifters. I enjoyed the developing relationship between Kim and Liam Morrisey, the go to shifter. I'll definitely be continuing this series

Just need Sunshine's Demon's review & we're totally up-to-date WOW. Of course the new shelf pops up in an hour & a half's time :D
