Task: Read a book tagged action-packed
How it fits: Tagged once action-packed
Date read: 10/9/17
Rating: 2 stars
Review: Bleh. That's almost all I want to write.
Although I've read this book before, I can't remember anything about it. It was a rather pointless read, with (view spoiler) So I liked that difference. Almost all of the characters' actions in this book are disgusting. This book makes me feel so shitty for humanity, because even though this book was written in the 70's, I'm sure this wasn't how life went. All of the bullying, all of the hurtful things, the lack of caring about how her mother treated her. I felt really pleased for Carrie at (view spoiler) I totally understand why Carrie did what she did, and I'm not even that sorry about it. They all deserved it.
This book actually reminded me a lot of one of the short stories in Because You Love to Hate Me (Sera).["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>

Shelf #5 - Vampires

Rating: 3 stars
Review:
For the final installment of the trilogy, there was a lot going on but everything came to a good conclusion. Eden is still struggling with her anger with Romany and the need for revenge, especially with the new knowledge about her brother. This creates questions about her loyalty to the Ankh and with her boyfriend, Noah. Tobe is also struggling with her boyfriend, Cameron, who had half his soul removed, leaving him as a functional, but emotionally empty shell. At the same time her parents are kidnaped by the same Soul Eaters that got to Cameron.
The story went quick with all the action and came to a satisfying ending.

Shelf: Vampires

Rating: ★★★★
This is a gritty Bo Blackman, harder, more edgy than previous books. She is working for X, the Kakos Daemon, who has forbidden her to let anyone in on that secret.
Micheal, head of the Montserrat Vampires, is worried about her, and wastes a good deal of his time trying to find her and make sure she is alright.
We have humans, the "tree people", against vamps and missing people & missing vamps. Medici is blindly recruiting for his own ends and the other Families are trying to combat them. We have a mysterious girl, Maria, who has some powers, but has escaped abuse and isn't talking much, now living with Bo.
Definitely a horrible, horrible cliffhanger and I'm so glad I am behind with this series, as the last book is already out and I have it.

How's

I'm starting it today. I desperately needed a Y so I jumped to that book first. :-D

Looks like some people have added entire series & some have added only the first book. Of course the ones that I thought would be there, ie #2 books, aren't. :(

I know! I always want to read the originating series before the spin off.

You now have an updated BINGO card with a stamp on 'action packed'.

Good Job!! :D

Shelf #3 - Debut Author

Rating: 4 stars
Review:
I knew I would like this book! Has everything you would want. Action, intrigue, mystery, a touch of magic/mythology, a touch of romance. We haven't even scratched the surface. Little miffed at the love-triangle. There is too much awesome going on to be dealing with who gets the girl. I want to know more about Celaena! Being only 18 and a renowned assassin?! I haven't read many assassin books. There a lot that goes into becoming one so can't wait to read all her hidden secrets.
Big Question? Definitely Team Chaol :-D

Glad you enjoyed it, I've got it tbr and it seems to come up on a lot of shelves, so I'll get to it eventually.
Off to request our stamp :)

Shelf: Spin Off
Date: 18/9/17
Rating: ★★★
Well, this is a spin off of the Supernatural Prison Story, and whilst I haven't read the original series I had no trouble picking up the previous happenings. JE certainly filled in lots of gaps so it was an easy read that way.
The troubling part was that both MC, Max & Mischa weren't very likable. Neither of them engaged me and if I hadn't been reading this for a challenge I would've DNF it. The things that kept me going were the supporting characters, both Jessa & Brax who had their HEA in the previous series and the others who will have their HEAs in this series.
Background of these stories, supes are not out in the world, and every 25 yrs a group of supes is elected to protect & serve, in this case control the supe prisons. Braxton, Max, Tyson & Jacob are the Compass quad, even though they are different supes, dragon, vamp, magic user & fey, are the latest leaders elected after the big bad battle at the end of the last series. Their friend Louis is the biggest, baddest magic user at this time, and it doesn't hurt to have friends like that when the villan, Kristoff the sorcerer, is back & wants revenge.

And how is everyone doing with Spin Off?
We'll have a new shelf tomorrow, and we don't want to fall too far behind :)

Wow, we learn a lot in this one, but of course there are always more questions.
We join Charley & Reyes & the gang a week after she gets her memory back (see Ninth Grave) and they return to Albuquerque. Beep is with her guardians and Charley is pretty upset that she needs to stay hidden.
As always lots of things & ghosts are happening all at once. A video of Charley performing an exorcism in Africa when she was in the Peace Corps is going viral, and various groups of nerds are stalking her, Amber wants to move to Quentin's boarding school, Cookie is freaking out, ADA Parker wants her to investigate a murder & get his buddy off the charge (he is innocent after all). There is also the knowledge that not only is she a God, but Reyes is as well, but is he Good or Evil? Charley even contemplates using the God Glass on him if he's, you know, Evil! Meanwhile he isn't his usual touchy feely self and Charley is worried. Charley also picks up a runaway girl, Heather, who has a tale of a curse and imminent death. And why is Garrett tailing Ubie?
Really looking forward to #11, and I'm happy to say I've got it here on my shelf.
