Good Job!! :D

I'm 62% done with my Debut Author book, & I've finished my Action Packed book.

I've still got 5 hours of listening on my debut-author. I'll probably get another 30-45 mins of it done today, but my uni is stressing me out with tests and assignments and I sense a break-down coming on so I need to try and keep calm and just do it.

And how nice to have a friend visiting from NZ Sunshine, bet you all had a fab week.
I've finished my Debut Author book & will put up the review shortly, but the hubby & I both came down with nasty colds yesterday, and he decided not to spread it around work, so he's home today. We think we picked it up somewhere on the weekend. Its definitely not fun :( but we'll live.

Shelf: Debut Author

For a debut book it is really rather good. The writing is a little stiff, but the plot and characters were for the most part fleshed out sufficiently.
Evony, an Amazzi warrior (think Amazon) comes from a tribe loyal to the Emperor Galen, but not the Empire he has conquered. After winning an archery contest among her tribe, her prize, if you want to call it that, is to go to the Palace to be a Bride Candidate for the Emperor.
But the bride candidates are really there to flush out traitors to the Emperor, as there have been rumblings amongst the nobles. Turns out that Evony is the only 1 of the candidates he can trust, the only 1 who is loyal to him and it doesn't hurt that she starts training his soldiers as well.
Lots of Palace intrigue, snooty up themselves girls, archery & assassination attempts, and unlikely friendships.
I'd be happy to read more from this author.

This shelf should be relatively easy I think. I know I've got plenty to choose from.

Review: I did really enjoy this book, but at the same time I'm glad it's over. It took me so long to listen to, as I had the audiobook. The concept of (view spoiler) is so interesting! The way Higgins brought it all together, all of the intense talks describing stuff with (view spoiler) There were a few parts that I had to rewind and listen to again, because it was a lot of information to take in, but I really did like the story. One thing I disliked immensely was the fact Anna wouldn't stop bloody crying! She cries about EVERY FREAKING THING and it's like 'shut up bitch stop crying we get it you're over-compassionate'. I also hated her (view spoiler) So yeah bit of a ragy review but there you have it. I'll definitely be continuing the series.["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>

Review : I love this series and how we follow one couple's story through the novel. This time it is the turn of Vishous' twin sister Payne and Jayne's former colleague Dr Manny Mannelo. We follow them through the ups and downs of their relationship as Payne recovers from major surgery. We are also given a glimpse into the ongoing relationship between Quinn and Leyla, and Blay and Sexton. There are also some new Vampires in town.
Lots of twists and turns to keep you going to the end.

Review:
Big finally to the series. Rose has escaped prison and is on the run with Dimitri. She is trying to find the lost secret Dragomir child to help Lissa in the Court while simultaneously trying to clear her name for the murder of the Queen.
Everything happens in this book! Someone big dies, someone big comes back, betrayal, broken hearts, mended hearts, court politics, and a happy(ish) conclusion. While Rose's story has ended, other's are still left unsatisfied. Good things there is a spin off cause I need other characters to be happy too!

Review:
My initial thoughts on this that it was a mix of Chitty, Chitty Bang. Bang; Wizard of Oz and Chronicles of Narnia rolled into one. This was slow going at first but when Scarlett learnt more about her inner character and the workings of Caraval the pace picked up. I enjoyed the twist at the end which I didn't see coming. I may continue with the series but not in the near future

ETA: Some books are tagged incorrectly (IE: "Visions of Heat" is found on the VAMPIRES shelf, but there are no vampires in the book.) however, if it is found on the shelf (appropriately tagged or not) it is acceptable.

We only need 2 reviews and we'll be totally up to date apart from this week's shelf.
Sunshine have you tried speeding up the narrator, I presume, for the House of Night books? I don't really read audiobooks but that's what I've heard folks do :)

Audio for Marked? I'm loving it. I find her voice when she narrates the teacher's voices is really weird, but it's alright haha.

I listen to 3x when the option's available, otherwise I have to settle for double speed. I love 3x speed because it's way faster than I could possibly read, and I get through books so much faster!

Review: This is the fourth time I've read this book, and there's always parts I forget, but I think each time I read it it gets worse. I remember loving it the first time I read it, but this time, because I knew what was going to happen, it wasn't as intriguing.
My favourite part of the book was when Zoey found Nala. I know it's a strange thing to like, but everything else in the book was totally predictable, and I like how Zoey immediately trusted Nala. Sometimes people need animals in their lives.
Some parts I found weird: (view spoiler)
I was also extremely annoyed when (view spoiler)
It also didn't go down well with me how the main character's always special. I mean, why can't the book be from the special person's friend, or even their enemy! I'm sick of everything always being perfect for the main characters. I know they have shit happen, but it all turns out fine in the end. Annoying yet typical.["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>
