I feel like at the end all that experience taught Monty a lot and I hope he'll still be present in the second book so we can see how it really affected him. I'm also glad that there wasn't too much history in it, as it's a problem with some historical fiction books, as if the author tried to prove to the reader that he knows stuff about that time, but here it was perfectly balanced.
And I can't wait to read Felicity's story because she's a badass! (hide spoiler)]

I really enjoyed this one! It was a fun adventure, not what I expected. I love anything from this era, this was the first queer romance I’ve ever read. (view spoiler)[ Monty was so irritating, entitled, immature, selfish, and a raging alcoholic throughout the entire book but I also saw something in him that made me want to keep reading in hopes that he turned a corner and changed and the ending delivered exactly what I was hoping for. I wasn’t sure where Percy stood for a bit, as far as his feelings for Monty. At times it seemed like he really wasn’t interested. Their first kiss at the music hall was pretty intense. I really liked Monty’s narration, he was just fun and made me laugh a few times. For all his downfalls, he did seem like a fun guy to party with lol. Things took a serious turn when Percy’s illness was revealed and I did not see that coming. While it was sweet that Monty was so steadfast in trying to get the panacea I still thought he was being selfish because HE didn’t want to lose Percy and HE wanted him to be well. It really wasn’t until the very end that he changes and makes a truly selfless decision to leave English society and be with Percy. I liked Felicity but she reminded me a lot of Audrey Rose from the Stalking Jack the Ripper series (which is awesome) so I wasn’t too interested in the sequel of her being the surgeon with the pirates.
