Angelina Kerner | 163 comments From Daniele:

To add your book, click on the Bookshelf link (either at the bottom of the group's home page or on the side under Swap Reviews where Bookshelf is listed).

Where it says to add books, type in your book's name and click "Search" (your book must already be on Goodreads). When you find your book, click "Add to Group." A box will open up to add it, and all you have to do is click "Save Group Book." It will then be added to the bookshelf.

Lisa Torquay (lisatorquay) | 5 comments Historical Romance - Scottish

Dear All,

My name is Lisa Torquay and I have launched a new romance, The Lass Defied the Laird, - https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/3...
https://www.amazon.com/Lass-Defied-La...

I was wondering if you would be so kind as to review it on Amazon and Goodreads. If so, please tell me which is your preferred format and an email address I can forward it to, so that I can send you a copy.

Here's a little about my book:

Published: February 2017
Length: Category, 153 pages
Word Count: 53,762
Genre: Historical Romance - Scottish
Rating: Hot, Sizzling
Available formats: PDF, RTF, Epub, HTML, Mob.

Aileen McKendrick is on the way to her aunt when The McDougal abducts her. Both clans had been rivals for more than a century. No matter because seeing its chief Taran makes her so dazed she forgets all about it. But he abducts her to seal an alliance between both clans with marriage. Not to him. To his eighteen-year-old son. No way will she allow her destiny to be decided by the implacable giant. Defying him makes millions of sparks fly over the loch as her will to resist their attraction dwindles by the minute.

Taran McDougal has had a bad marriage with his long-deceased wife and no intention of repeating the mistake. His plans for an alliance sound solid up to the minute he sets eyes on the uncompliant, dazzling lass. The untamable shrew fakes a scandal to thwart his designs and now they must marry. She makes his blood boil with vexation and desire. As the later starts winning the race, he is on the verge of losing control and giving in to their explosive passion.

Level of sensuality: hot, sizzling.

Thank you for your time! I am looking forward to hearing from you.

Best Regards,
Lisa Torquay

I'm so happy to hear! I usually help out with adding books to the bookshelf though I'm not a mod and I'm happy to find people being able to add their books themselves. Less for me to worry about ;) Plus, it's been a month where I haven't really been on Goodreads. Yikes.

Awesome Ronit. Thank you for adding your book. If you would like to promote your book for reviews, post a separate post under a different category inside this group since this post is about the bookshelf and people usually just ask their books to be added.

Hi Lisa, I've added your book to the bookshelf. Awesome cover.

I'm going to tell you the same thing that I told Ronit.

If you would like to promote your book for reviews, post a separate post under a different category inside this group since this post is about the bookshelf and people usually just ask their books to be added. People don't read promotional posts in threads like this. Thank you and good luck getting reviews!

Courtney Hello,
My name is Courtney and I recently joined the group! I am still trying to get my footing. If I submit a book onto the bookshelf for review will it then go into the book review pool? Or is there somewhere else I should post the book aside from the bookshelf spot? If you could let me know it would be a huge help!

Thanks so much,
Courtney

Hi Courtney, welcome to the group!

You need to review someone else's book first to get into the review pools. There are now three different pools, all for different lengths of books. Read all the rules here:

Full-length novels, or anything shorter: https://www.goodreads.com/group/show/...

Max 50k-word novels, or anything shorter: https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...

Short stories, anything below 17k words: https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...

Christopher Jessulat | 55 comments The Decline

Good day,

I recently published my first novel (Dec 2016) and am now in the process of trying to pick up some exposure. This group seems to be filled with like minded people!

I tend to alternate between heavy & light reading (bouncing between military non-fiction and sci-fi/fantasy), with a particular lean towards the post-apocalyptic.

I'd like to get started with reviewing right away and look forward to getting underway.

A link to my title (The Decline) for the bookshelf is:
https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/3...

I'll be requesting a title to review momentarily... thanks in advance!

Chris

This is the thread for the group bookshelf, which is totally different from adding your book to a review pool. The bookshelf, just puts your book on the group shelf.

Thanks, Kari

message 91: by Christopher (new)

Christopher Jessulat | 55 comments Good morning all,

Please add my book to the bookshelf - I am in the process of reading for my initial review.

The details for my novel are as follows -

The Decline
Genre: post-apocalyptic fiction/sci fi (...it's a zombie book, no lies!)

I've always been a fan of the post-apocalyptic genre and a true soft spot for classic horror movies (Bela Lugosi, Vincent Prince, Boris Karloff), and in particular have always loved the 'zombie' genre. The challenge I've had is - not unlike other mediums - the 'zombie' genre is getting completely bogged down in gratuitous violence... I have a lot of difficulty in slogging through a zombie book where the ratio is 1 paragraph story and 3 paragraphs gore. I wanted to write something that put more focus on story telling and character development rather than violence, although there's clearly some violent sequences. I hope it's been successful in that it should appeal to traditional fans of the genre, but remain accessible/enjoyable to those who wouldn't normally be into that genre.

It's available on Amazon, Chapters/Indigo (Canadian), Barnes and Noble, Apple iBook, among others, although the majority of my emphasis has been via Amazon and Chapters/Indigo.

Look forward to hearing some of your thoughts!

Best, Chris
